Best Brand for scar strips and cream
NeedaBreak4Me replied to ausmith's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
I have used the dermatix... its crazy expensive like $70 for a little tube.... it didn't do much in my opinion. The second time i had surgery i used nothing and the scars faded over time. (Took around 2 years to fade) Bio oil is supposed to be good... i haven't used it on scars though. Now i have had the sleeve, i just use Vitamin e cream and nivea all over to keep my skin moisturized... and to prevent my skin from looking rippled from weight loss. The Hiruscar is around $20... but i have never used it -

Hey... You are probably in ketosis. Are you eating really low carb?? When you are in ketosis your breath stinks... and no amount of brushing will get rid of it.... if you want to be sure... you can buy ketostix from the chemist... you pee on them and they advise if you have ketones. -

At 10 days post op you are expecting to have 2 hour marathon sex?????? Maybe wait a couple of weeks before trying anything that strenuous... perhaps walking would be a better way to get in some activity lol -

Usually being numb in the fingers is either a circulation/nerve issue or a Vitamin deficienct .. If you are taking a multi perhaps have a look at the values... Magnesium and thiamine deficiencies sometimes cause numbing. Daily recommended values from our surgeon's office are: Iron - 18mg B1 - 1.1mg B12 - 2.4mg Calcium -1000mg Folate - 400mg Magnesium - 400mg But, i would highly suggest you see your doctor for follow up -

Can you elaborate on what things you can't do? What are you eating? Are you taking Vitamins? How far out are you? -
Don't worry @@mikaylag ... i don't feel 34.. i still feel like i am on my early 20s... and i can be pretty silly and immature lol
-
Good for you!! You must be so proud of yourself for being committed to 4 jobs to get this surgery. .. some people can learn something from you... if anyone deserves this surgery its you ????
-
At 19 i had barely anything too... but when you get to my age... it adds up in the end... i feel so old next to a 19 year old haha... im 34
-
Aww you are so young!! Lucky you... your age is not working against you... good on you for doing something about it at your age before it gets worse
-
@@mikaylag You can access your super to pay for that.. you need to have one form filled out by your GP and the other by your surgeon. They must say on the form that it is life threatening.. eg diabetes etc. Then you apply through human services... they review it and send you a letter saying yes.. then you send the letter to your super fund.. and they transfer it to your account. .. its pretty simple actually

@@podg25 hahhaa too funny... i guess your autocorrect choose the most appropriate word lol

Yeah i am pretty impressed i can fit that much in... i have 2 one litre bottles that i drink throughout the day... not sips, more like small gulps... mind you first 2 weeks i could barely get a cup in... so yes big difference. Hunger... hmm its a different hunger for me now.. its like.. i should eat now... i feel a little empty.. so i listen to my body .. i wouldn't call it actual hunger though
-
I had mine done 6 weeks ago now... time really does fly!! I am doing great, back to normal... drinking 2 litres easily, getting 80g of Protein daily.. It is so much easier now than the first two weeks... each week gets easier and easier. I don't regret it so far... i have had moments when im like... i would like to eat this or that... but thats in my head.
-
Hmm not really... i did have a few numbers on the anesthesiologist quote... i don't remember them though... maybe that's what they are. I wasnt to worried about the extras cause i knew i was covered
-
Yeah... are you getting the sleeve? If so, call bupa and ask them if you are covered for item number 31575
-
Yeah the 5k sounds about right... with private health insurance Mine was almost 6k but i am getting some back from medicare for the anesthesiologist around 800 i think (i haven't claimed it back yet.. lazy one i am) Could the 14k be the quote for out of pocket?
-
@@podg25 I was wondering what an sloth aussie was... i thought i was up to date with all the lingo hehehe
-
What!! Thats crazy expensive!! Is that out of pocket or with health insurance?? I was quoted 21k without insurance and 6k with, that includes everything, surgeon and hospital and anesthesiologist. Who is the surgeon? What hospital?
-
I had a food funeral and i don't regret it one bit.... it actually was therapeutic in the sense of i let go of my old lifestyle that day and started a new one. I took a picture of me eating my last pre op bite... and now being 6 weeks out... i look at it and im like... damn i have lost weight since then.. its sort of symbolic for me... and having my favorite "big meal" was my funny way of having closure. If you feel you need one... have it... just don't make it a month long thing, pick one or two of your favourite meals and enjoy it
-
@@KindaFamiliar yes dear... you are special ????
-
He was okay...i didn't interact with him much.. he did my initial lapband surgery and then he left the clinic... so i was transferred to my current surgeon who looked after me after my band.. and he also just did my sleeve 6 weeks ago... You should be okay....and mater is a good hospital so aftercare should be good... How are you doing though? Nervous as hell i bet lol
-
Ah... i had Dr Taylor who initially did my band years ago... he is alright...
