    "Sugar Free"

@@taracutch Since you are on the pre op diet, you technically aren't losing fat, you are losing Water, as your body goes into ketosis. . Water gets pulled from your body and burns glycogen.. hence why we get flatter tummies and are advised to drink lots of water. I agree with you about eating whole foods and good fats... luckily i have always enjoyed eating that way... its amazing how bad some "healthy" food is l. Eg.. some "healthy" smoothies have more sugar than a coke!!

    Regret before surgery

I think its normal and common to question your choice. I literally went back and forth in my head until the moment they wheeled me into the operating room.. I was scared, excited, nervous, mourning the loss of my stomach, hopeful, disappointed that i had gotten to that point, thankful, sad, happy, scared, uncertain, apprehensive .. you name it... i felt it.. and that was only in one day! Its completely normal, allow yourself permission to feel these emotions and remind yourself why you are doing this, the benefits you will gain through doing this and what this surgery will enable you to achieve. The head stuff is much harder than the physical stuff... but take each day as exactly that... one day.... Wishing you best of luck for your surgery
  4. Well i am in Australia, so i am not sure if my one would be available where you are.. But here is the link to the brand i use http://www.healthy-lifespace.com/adult/broad-spectrum-probiotic-capsules/ It is expensive... but im sure you can find something similar.. hence why i posted the ingredients... and a plus with this brand the Capsules are small so no issues there
  5. You need to give it time for it to work. All also, try a broad spectrum probiotic. Having acidophilus alone is not enough, you need the different strains to really see the benefit. Attached is the list of strains to look out for... this is the one i use, and i can definitely see the difference when i don't use it.
  6. Honey... it is completely normal... I always prided myself on having poop that doesn't ever smell bad.... Since surgery i am like ] On a serious note.... maybe try prebiotics?

Sure.... but by the sounds of it... you might need a bigger bed! Hubby, cats, dogs, tea, ipad and now mini horse...... its gonna get kinda squishy... Makes me think of that kids song... " there was 3 in the bed and the little one said.. roll over.. roll over"

Well it sounds like you are on the right track.. doing research and trying to make informed choices... thats what this is about isn't it.. being accountable and responsible for our bodies and health. I wish you all the best with your surgery and feel free to contact us anytime you have a question
  16. See... this is the strange thing with me.... i lost all my weight with my band... got to goal.. had the "i see myself as bigger than what i really am" phase.... my brain finally caught up and i knew i was slim and everything was normal and in proportion. Fast forward removed the band, gained weight quickly over 12 months... and my brain thought i was thinner than what i was.... Now that i am sleeved and losing... my brain thinks i am bigger than what i am... So it funny how your brain creates an illusion to what you really look like. Now i try to get family members to point out people who are a similar build, so i can get it right in my head. Its amazing how your mind plays tricks on you. You would think after going through the process, all the head stuff would be easier to recognize and deal with.... but nope!

    "Sugar Free"

I hate artificial sugar... it tastes really weird to me... i can tell straight away when its in something... For me its either real sugar or no sugar... artificial sugar makes me feel weird after eating it, so i avoid it as much as possible

    "Sugar Free"

One suggestion... do not stock up too much.. your tastes might change post op, and i find i am getting bored of certain foods quite quickly... only get enough to last a couple of weeks otherwise you can have a whole heap of stuff you might never want to eat again.. Keep us updated on how everything goes

Somedays I can eat more than others

Yes, yes and yes... As an ex bander we don't have a tight esophagus like a virgin sleever, so we can take in more than them... Water isn't an issue as much for us either... i can gulp water no issues and could from week 3 onwards. Weight wise, unfortunately this is also true, we lose at lower rate because its not the first time we have shocked our body into losing weight. It will come off if we stick to the plan, it might take longer... but in grand scheme of things, it isn't a race. . And bonus is you will have less loose skin, if any depending on your size

    "Sugar Free"

@@Shaydi.Laine Yes you are absolutely correct. If you cut out too much of everything your body rebels and fights back. Basically its either low carb/sugar and high fat ir high carb or low fat... no one should do low carb low fat.. the only thing that'll give you is a stall, low energy and your body going into starvation. Do these NUTs even study nutrition? @@Kaze I would suggest reading the labels on the canned food... add yoghurt, lentils, Beans etc that is much more nutritionally dense than oatmeal ☺

    Soup

It really depends on the size of your sleeve. And as an ex bander you will find you can fit more in due to the esophagus being less tight because of the band. Soup is a slider food... it basically goes through the sleeve with ease, as you get further out it becomes easier to have more. For me as an ex bander i can probably have a cup of soup with no issues at all. (Oz wise i don't know how much that is... us aussies use the metric system) If it is a clear base, and low carb/ calorie i do not see an issue with allowing yourself this treat which is a favourite past time. @@Sophie74656 it is not very productive to say someone has a BAD state of mind because they want to enjoy something they did previously... granted the OP will need to measure portion sizes and keep them relatively small.. but accusing them of having a bad mindset without giving proactive advice doesn't help. I think the OP is looking for a comparison also not an excuse to guzzle down 3 bowls of soup

    "Sugar Free"

I don't think having a little bit of sugar is going to hurt... i think just keep it minimal to avoid dumping. In relation to going sugar free, low fat and low salt.... you might want to NOT go low fat and low sodium.... if you go low carb and low fat, you can potentially screw up your gallbladder.. and going too low on sodium will throw off your electrolytes and you will feel like crap because of your blood pressure. During the first couple of weeks it doesn't really matter. . What is more important is getting your fluids and Protein to promote healing.... if a "little bit of sugar helps the medicine (water/protein) go down" it won't do any damage. Just don't go crazy with the sugar... a small amount is okay.
