NeedaBreak4Me replied to Andi07's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Wow thats awesome... you have lost what i have left to get to my doctors goal!! Thats great work. How are you losing so quickly? What's your secret? -
Will WLS work if the problem isn't overeating?
NeedaBreak4Me replied to WitchySar's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I agree with the two posters above. . It is not all about overeating, eating junk and being sedentary. I no longer have a normal metabolism, i will always gain if i have above 1000 calories a day... so i had surgery so i am able to have the lower calories without feeling like i am starving. -

If the surgery team did not answer then one needs to take responsibility and ask them again..... not a bunch of people on a Internet forum. There will always be differences of opinion. Some will say yes.. some will say no How would the OP feel if they left them on.. and the hospital had a strict no acrylic nail policy and cancelled the surgery until they were removed? All that hard work for nothing... the only advice one should follow is their doctors.... especially when you are on a operating table with your life in their hands. So forgive me for not wrapping everyone up in cotton wool and enabling them to make potentially dangerous choices based on random people on the Internet. -

Oh thank you for clearing that up.... i was thinking why you would be offended when i had the "hehehe" & the emoji and me saying later "on a serious note" Sorry if i jumped down your throat on that one.... i am just sick of people lately getting offended every time something is not "supportive" and a joke Once again, i apologize ☺ -

Um, it's was a J-O-K-E... look up the meaning in the dictionary l.... it might help you relax before you jump on the "you are being rude" wagon. and for your information i actually didn't mean it in a condescending way... i meant it in the way i said it.... it would be a tough choice.. I'm a girly girl and it would be a tough choice. And yes... lack of oxygen does cause brain damage... so how is my post not accurate? -

Why are you eating staples?? They were not in the "allowed" foods factsheet my NUT gave me -
i am to please.... no really its because i like hearing my own voice... so really you are doing me a favour hehehe ????

Well myfitnesspal has that graph too, and you can track your calories and Protein, fat, carbs etc... you just input your meal and it calculates it for you. For me i use it to monitor what i am doing and too look at why i am stalling... eg too low calories.. not enough protein or Water etc Your dad is a wise man... as long as the weight is going down... thats a win for you... Celebrate the small victories... the reep large results long term I am really excited for you... i feel like you are going to do wonderfully and because you are so young you have so many positives on your side... keep me up to date with your progress... and feel free to ask anything... nothing is off limits
-
I know this will be an odd question.... but is your breath stinky? If so, and you are getting full from having a few bite, you are probably in ketosis, which is exactly where you want to be at this stage. In regards to tracking.... i would download myfitnesspal... track your food, Water and weight through there... it keeps you accountable. In regards to scales... there are 3 types of people post surgery... type 1... who don't care about the numbers too much..but weigh weekly or monthly.. but don't obsess type 2... who weigh every day to keep themselves on track (this turned into obsession for me, and with my already damaged ego, i decided to back off to save my sanity) Type 3... the follow up appt weigher If you choose to be a type 1 or 2... buy yourself a new scale... because having an unreliable one will only do your head in... My personal advice though... if you currently have body image issues or you are self critical or have too much pressure on you to lose weight... i would suggest option 1... it really can get out of hand and manifest into a very unhealthy relationship with your scale and food
-
That might help.... if that doesn't help next month... you might need to increase your calories.... 800 is a better number at 3 months post op.
-
Rosiecheeks.... i had mine 2 days after you... and i am also experiencing a sudden slow down.... i have lost 33lbs since surgery... so it looks like our stats are very similar... I remember when i had my band... weight loss also slowed right down month 2... and literally melted off month 3... by month 6 i was at goal. It is annoying though.... are you getting enough calories? are you meeting your protein and fluid goals?.... looks like we are stallin', stallin', stallin' (rawhide) hehe
-
Well at 135kg... i would assume you would lose a substantial amount of weight post op. If i, as an ex bander with a confirmed screwed up metabolism can lose that much... as a virgin sleever i do not see why you won't... Yeah scales are terrible... mine were very finicky... if you move it a couple of inches to the right... it changes my weight a couple of pounds.. How are your clothes feeling? Have you/will you take measurements? But i will say .... in the grand scheme of things... its a number on a scale... what matters most is getting physically, emotionally and mentally healthier. That is what matters most.... but it would feel great to prove your point to that doctor...
-
Hey Kaze.... at 6 weeks i had lost 28 pounds... but i am considered a "lightweight" so weightloss is slower But it also depends on your starting weight, age, metabolism, how long you have been yoyo dieting etc. I am assuming you are on the pre op diet now if your surgery is on Tuesday .... how much have you lost so far? What is starting weight?
