    What's a good protein drink?

I want something as close to Water as possible, consistency wise. I don't like smoothies, shakes any of that. I'm weird about food. Sent from my SM-G935T using the BariatricPal App

    What's a good protein drink?

I used the muscle milk with 40grams of protein. It's about $4.50 a bottle but compare that to the cost of food during the day. They have a few great flavors. ImageUploadedByBariatricPal1460480139.511954.jpg I asked a friend about these and she told me they didn't taste all that great. I'm just going to try suggestions until I get one I can get down. What's a good protein drink?

If you are using the Protein shake as a Meal Replacement rather than just a shot of protein, it doesn't need to be that light, in fact it's better to have more calories. I use the SlimFast meal replacement shakes branded High Protein/Advanced Nutrition. They have 20g of protein, 180 calories, 1g of sugar and 8g of healthy fats, plus 5g of fiber, and a panel of Vitamins and minerals at about 1/3 the RDA. They cost about $2 each for 11oz. The chocolate ones are quite tasty in my opinion. See: http://slimfast.com/products/advanced/shakes/creamy-chocolate Yeah, it will pretty much be my only source of protein. Will check this out, thanks. Sent from my SM-G935T using the BariatricPal App

FMLA approved....one more hurdle to go.

Is it a copay or your deductible that it's being applied to. If it's your deductible they aren't allowed to collect up front...a claim as to be submitted and the insurance company as to approve based upon the contracted agreed amount. If it's your copay, then that amount is usually already outlined in your summary of benefits. Hope that helps. I work insurance and I know how frustrating it can be Sent from my SM-G935T using the BariatricPal App

3 diet attempts in past 2 years

I don't believe it has to be detailed by the book. My PCP basically listed and went off of our visits where diet and my exercise were discussed. You can get your previous PCP to contact current I'm sure. Sent from my SM-G935T using the BariatricPal App

    Psychological Evaluation

I did mines about a month ago. It went better than I expected. I thought for sure because of depression and anxiety, and a history of psych medications that it would complicate things. But she ultimately felt that I didn't have unrealistic goals about the surgery...meaning that I knew I would still have to work my butt off and that it wasn't a quick fix. Take the extra time to really prepare yourself. You'll be fine. Sent from my SM-G935T using the BariatricPal App

    Sleeve or band

My final weigh-in is May 3rd. I'm going to let him know then that I've decided on the sleeve. Between the stories here and then general research I believe it's best to do the sleeve. I also see how many people are having problems getting approval for revision surgeries, I rather avoid that problem. I'm hoping for a quick approval approved a date for the middle/end of May. Almost all of the stories are like yours. I don't want these problems at all. Sleeve is sounding more and more appealing. Where in NY did you do yours? I'm doing it Langone Sent from my SM-G935T using the BariatricPal App Hi I live in Rockland County, NY but my surgeon and hospital is in Hackensack NJ about 20 minutes from me. He is the same surgeon that did my band. I know the choice is yours but if i had listened to others 10 years ago when i got the band i would've gotten the sleeve .... RNY TO ME is still last last resort im terrified of the symptoms one can get and again its my opinion only and what i have witness my close friends and family who had with the RNY. where is Langone, NYSorry, I'm doing it at Langone Hospital. That's in Manhattan. Sent from my SM-G935T using the BariatricPal App
  11. I had to do the 6 months as well...except I started back in 2014. I moved away and thought I'd just diet and exercise. No luck. I moved back and went back to my surgeon...after a few visits he suggested I gain a few pounds because insurance required my BMI to be at 40 (I was 38/39) gained a couple of pounds. Last visit is May 3rd and I'm hoping for a date for the end of the month. This has been quite the process, but I'm so ready. Sent from my SM-G935T using the BariatricPal App

    Sleeve or band

Then mines must know something that so many others don't know...lol I'm running in the opposite direction. Sleeve all the way. Sent from my SM-G935T using the BariatricPal App I have been banded for 10 long years. Hoping to get a revision to the sleeve. Crissy, do NOT get the band!!! I. HATE. IT! I have gone through so much crap with the band and it has been horrible. Don't do it!!! My surgeon doesn't even do them anymore, so what does that tell you? I will be devastated if my ins doesn't approve me for the sleeve. That is crazy!!! I'm so dumbfounded as to why he is still sort of pushing it. I hope they do approve it. That is also another reason why I don't want to do the band...insurance issues if it has to be removed. They already give a hassle to even get approved. Sleeve or band

First off...WOW how utterly scary to have gone through that. Glad it all worked out. Based on the reviews of those that have had it, seems all have had to do revision. My friends all have done sleeve and one bypass. She says skip the band and sleeve and do bypass. I'm just afraid that I'm not big enough for bypass. I'm 5'3 and I'm a little over 100 pounds from what is normal. So I'm thinking sleeve will be perfect. Sent from my SM-G935T using the BariatricPal App
  16. So most insurance will list these surgeries as not covered. However, if something is medically necessary and your Dr's can provide proof of that then you can submit for an authorization to get it done. Your surgeon would submit your medical history and outline why you need this. There's usually a standalone department that consists of nurses and Dr's that will then verify if you do qualify for the surgery. If denied you can appeal, twice I believe with most. I work insurance and I've seen things not covered, paid out by the insurance. Best of luck with it all. Sent from my SM-G935T using the BariatricPal App

Thank you. Reflux is very mild so I'm thinking I'll be fine. The maintenance of the band is definitely a huge factor. Good luck!! Sent from my SM-G935T using the BariatricPal App

    Sleeve or band

Dont do the band! I had the band done 6 years ago... obtained successful weight loss... no major issues until 5 years later... . had it removed... in 12 months by eating well... i have gained most of my weight back. It does not teach you good food choices... actually quite the opposite. Very common problems are Food getting stuck Not being able to drink a large amount of Water The band getting tight when stressed The band is tight when ovulating and during periods Cant eat decent healthy foods No dry chicken.. meat etc And so much more. Ask your doctor to do a manometry test. This tests your esophageal pressure... if this comes out good. You should be able to address your reflux issues. I'm so confused as to why he wants to go forward with that. Honestly I think it's because insurance doesn't pay for the upkeep of the band after I believe the 3rd visit. I picked an excellent program, but this choice had me baffled. Sent from my SM-G935T using the BariatricPal App Wow!!! All of the comments are definitely making up my mind. I'm already a very picky eater (you wouldn't think with all of the weight lol) but I don't need any extra complications. My reflux isn't bad, my GI really thinks it's just the extra weight. My upper endoscopy was fine with the exception of mild irritation in stomach. Thank you for the information. Sent from my SM-G935T using the BariatricPal App Good luck with your weight loss journey.. keep us updated on how you go Thank you!! Definitely will. I definitely don't want to have to do that. I don't want complications and restrictions. I've already invested so much time trying to even get this done...I would be beyond mad if I follow his lead only to not reach my goal and still have to go back for revision.
