Congrats guys!!! Last appointment tomorrow and we can submit. Should be no issue with approval. This will be her 3rd one that I miss, but definitely worth it. I am so excited for tomorrow and for surgery. Sent from my SM-G935T using the BariatricPal App

  4. I'm one weigh in away and I'm trying to decide between the sleeve or the band. When I initially started the process I wanted the band. But after speaking with my PCP, friends that's have done weight loss surgeries and general research. I decided on the sleeve. My surgeon is saying now to the band because I've been having problems with acid reflux. My personal thought at first was, he knows what's best, but ultimately I feel that the band will be an inconvenience, and lessen my weight loss goals. I'm new here, and welcome any thoughts, advice etc... thanks

    Sleeve or band

Thank you. I have heard from like every other person that their surgeon rarely if ever performs the band. So that was a big factor as well. Sent from my SM-G935T using the BariatricPal App

Haha I grew up in SI, then moved to Miami. When I came back it was a different world. I don't think New Yorkers can pull off the ratchet charm as they do in the south. Sent from my SM-G935T using the BariatricPal App

Where did you get samples? I'm so picky, I don't want to buy to only have it sit. I was lucky Vitamin Shoppe had samples out the day I went. Sent from my SM-G935T using the BariatricPal App

    Sleeve or band

Thank you!! I started this journey back in 2014 after trying yet again to diet with little success. I had a few friends that had done it or were about to and that's when I started to look into it. I wanted the band, it seemed the easiest thing. But after my PCP told me sleeve, I started looking there. It's been so helpful reading all of the stories from you guys. I definitely don't think the band is for me. Haven't told my surgeon yet, I see him on the 3rd, but my mind is completely made up. Sent from my SM-G935T using the BariatricPal App

    What's a good protein drink?

It is AWESOME!! The banana and the chocolate ones are great. Seems my taste for the strawberry has changed. I had one before and really liked it, but now it was just "ok" for me. Seemed a little chalky. I haven't tried the vanilla yet. Sent from my SM-G900V using the BariatricPal App Everyone has told me premier. I haven't tried it yet. I found a mix at Vitamin Shoppe that I really like. It's Cookies and cream, and I actually look forward to drinking it. I'm going to BJ'S to see if they have premier there so that I can try it. 15. I want to start getting prepared for post-op and I'm wondering what drinks you guys like. I randomly came across an already mixed drink from Iconic Protein. It's 20g of protein, has Fiber, B12 and only 130 calories...but at almost 4 dollars a bottle I'm wondering if it's worth it. Any suggestions Sent from my SM-G935T using the BariatricPal App

This may sound quite horrible...there were days where I was just under what I needed to be for weigh-in....let me go back a bit. My insurance requires 6 months of weigh ins that reflect in my case a BMI of 40+ I was pretty stuck 39.99 (yes I'm serious) so their (Dr's office) advice drink a few cups of Water before I got weighed. Have a huge Breakfast next visit. I say all that to say my surgeons office really worked with me because they knew the requirements. So I don't get why you're having to torture yourself at this point. Why aren't they helping a bit more I guess Sent from my SM-G935T using the BariatricPal App

    Sleeve or band

I'm finding it so strange that's the route he wants to go. I think after reading the comments I'm going to move forward with the sleeve. Seems the easiest route to go that will better help me reach my goal. Sent from my SM-G935T using the BariatricPal App Do the sleeve reading the comments the band is a waste. ???? Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G930A using the BariatricPal App Already decided. I'm going with the sleeve. Just waiting on the 3rd which will be my final weigh in to let him. So excited. Sleeve or band

Thank you!!! Nope he's not overweight at all. The crazy part is that I was way smaller when we met so I don't get it. He's gone now and my focus is completely on me for the first time in a long time. I can't wait, fingers crossed insurance does not put up a fight. Sent from my SM-G935T using the BariatricPal App
  21. This has been happening to me. Did an upper endoscopy and GI put me on medication...I followed up with an ENT and after looking saw that I had post nasal drip which was contributing to the choking sensation. Prescribed me Flonase and it has helped tremendously. Sent from my SM-G935T using the BariatricPal App This has been happening to me. Sleeve or band

That's awesome. To be honest, no one seems to get why I'm doing this. They live in this strange land where being 100+ pounds overweight is fine...meanwhile it's a struggle to shop, eat, walk, talk, put shoes on and stairs forget that. I actually had my ex tell me if I did it he would never speak to me again. I beat him to the punch and just left. Lol...my daughter is supportive at 6 years old, wants me to be skinny again. It's great you have the support and found the therapist. I have one and she's just the best thing ever on tough days. I am counting down until the 3rd, we get to submit then and I'm hoping and praying all goes well. Sent from my SM-G935T using the BariatricPal App

    What's a good protein drink?

I want something as close to Water as possible, consistency wise. I don't like smoothies, shakes any of that. I'm weird about food. Sent from my SM-G935T using the BariatricPal App Look into Protein Water. They don't have as much protein in them so you'd have to drink more (but counts towards fluids too). I bought Trumino Protein infused water. There may be other brands with more protein. Thanks will look that up now. Sent from my SM-G935T using the BariatricPal App

    Sleeve or band

My final weigh-in is May 3rd. I'm going to let him know then that I've decided on the sleeve. Between the stories here and then general research I believe it's best to do the sleeve. I also see how many people are having problems getting approval for revision surgeries, I rather avoid that problem.I'm hoping for a quick approval approved a date for the middle/end of May. Sent from my SM-G935T using the BariatricPal App Good for you as long as you did your research and you weigh the pros and cons for YOU then all will be well. May 3rd you still have time hang around ask question read previous post whatever comes to mind ask / Good Luck !I definitely will still be doing research. I want to be as prepared as possible and this is a great tool for that. How's your recovery going? Sent from my SM-G935T using the BariatricPal App

FMLA approved....one more hurdle to go.

Is it a copay or your deductible that it's being applied to. If it's your deductible they aren't allowed to collect up front...a claim as to be submitted and the insurance company as to approve based upon the contracted agreed amount. If it's your copay, then that amount is usually already outlined in your summary of benefits. Hope that helps. I work insurance and I know how frustrating it can be Sent from my SM-G935T using the BariatricPal App I honestly don't know, I'm not the brightest in the insurance department! I just know I have an out of pocket maximum of $2500 and I'm close to $2100 already, before the surgery. Sent from my LGLS990 using the BariatricPal App If you're close to your MOOP then you really won't pay much more than that to meet the gap. Call and simply ask, if it's copay or deductible. They will have information for both. You ask what the co-pays will be for hospital stay/surgeon fees/facility etc and then ask what you have met thus far towards deductible and your max out of pocket (MOOP) this information is there. Make them provide it Sent from my SM-G935T using the BariatricPal App
