    Protein, Protein, Protein

Agree I was all proud this morning my shake was over 40 G .....guess I will be going back to just powder and no yogurt in it!
  6. Good way to add extra protein to your shake, 1 cup of 1% milk at 9g of protein along with half a cup of Greek yogurt for 8.5g , half of a small banana along with your powder I have a shake that is 44.5g of protein....

I have that off and on (and recently - even at 11 months post-op have had it). It could be BP (as mentioned above), could be lack of carbs and/or protein and/or water - especially if you are exercising too hard.

early on, dizziness was for me a sign of dehydration.

    Protein, Protein, Protein

I finally found a protein powder that I like which makes the whole 2 shakes a day much easier......maybe if you are having a hard time you just don't like what you have....I switched to whey protein isolate and thank God that I did, the other stuff was awful.....I am still working on water goals but I do one water then water with a splash of apple juice just enough to taste....helps me get the liquids down. 3 Rd day in a row I made my protein goal since surgery....I am hoping this gets the scale moving (and yes I know it is not all about the scale).
  10. FINALLY found a protein powder that I like....and FINALLY making my protein goals....still working on the water but I increase everyday ...YAY me

    Help need advice

Thank you everyone....I felt like I was doing something wrong but never took into consideration the fact that I am internally healing as well....I will just do my thing and go on the scale once every 2 weeks or so....and go by my clothes and body.... .
  14. Ok I had surgery 2 weeks and 5 days ago on April 21st. I lost 16 pounds post op on liquid diet but have only lost 5 pounds since surgery....I am not eating actual carbs except for drinking milk, yogurt and a little cheese.....I live off of eggs chicken and pad salsa with a protein shake in the morning....has anyone else gone through this? I am def not getting in my 64 oz of liquid a day but I am trying.....advice?

    Help need advice

I purée the boiled eggs, chicken and salsa....they actually gave me puréed soup 3 Rd day in hospital....I did liquid for a week after...I have to work on my water consumption....but there is only so much room in there....I guess I consider myself healed as I didn't find the surgery as bad as a c-section and a hysterectomy.....but really it is only 2 in a half weeks out....just feels like it should be faster.....

I agree with Miss Mac. Everyone is different but I was at a BMI of 40 when I had rny and lost 20 lbs the first month. If you can, I recommend getting a scale that measures body fat not just weight and BMI. This way you will know when you truly lose fat or if you're up a few pounds you will know if it is just water weight. It is possible you are retaining water if you're a little dehydrated but please call your team.

      Best,

Well I have lost a total of 21 since the post op diet....so I guess I lost 5 lol but I am not eating carbs....drinking milk and yogurt for snack....I do notice a difference in my clothes....but 5 lbs in 2 weeks seems wrong to what I am eating....I only go back in June for my check up.

You are a little over 10 days post-op hopefully it is starting to get better for you.

  20. I feel guilty for eating so much (which is literally3 TBS of food at a time) but I can go 4 hours without eating and they want me to eat every 2...I can't imagine it...any advice?

    1. Daisee68

      Daisee68

No guilt about eating. That can really lead to issues. If you are having guilt / food issues, please be sure to see a therapist. Meanwhile, you are very early out and I promise you it gets easier. I was very nervous when I took that very first bite last June, but now eating correctly has become a habit at 11 months post-op and down 138 pounds (110 of that since surgery). Hang in there!

  21. I am 11 days post op and feel thankful that I have not felt nauseous since the hospital....I had a very rough day but had sense enough to go for a walk with my dog....wasn't far mind you but it did change my mood.....once you can introduce new foods I think you will find it easier.... I am new to this as well this is just how I feel....but as well I am in medication for depression since I had my son 11 years ago, which started with post pardom and they strictly told me not to go off them.....which is one of my goals way way down the road....it is hard because we used food for everything happy sad bored....Friday use to be pizza night at my house for my son and I, I will not lie and say I wasn't upset that he got yummy pizza and I ate a yogurt lol....but later on I will be able to have pizza with him again just a healthier version....
  22. The "girls" are the only thing I am not looking forward to loosing..lol I am only 11 days post op but when I have lost weight in the past those are the first to go.....they are not to perky as it is but I am prepared for the worst later on...I said I will go from a full C to an A lol...I can only hope I am wrong but chances are not....
  23. Hehe had my first egg today....no sarcasm it was delicious! Lol

  24. I am frustrated with eating slow but by no means am I regretting the surgery....after having a c-section and a hysterectomy the recovery is very much easier than those....I am 10 days post op....do I miss certain foods for sure! But I would seek counselling if you are extremely depressed....and I am also in need of a hobby besides eating! I wish you the best on this journey.....it will get better for you I hope.
