  1. @@ginabee38 sure! As soon as I can I'll let you know how it went! @@thatmeanone I'm happy to hear you had such a great experience there! I hope I do too!
  2. @@ginabee38 I'm feeling alright. Today I'm not allowed to have any protein shakes..only clear liquids. I feel like I have a short fuse today. The clear liquids aren't filling but I'm trying to keep my mind occupied. I have to be at the hospital at 5am!
  3. Hello everyone! I'm in Amityville and I'm having my surgery tomorrow (October 3rd) in Mineola at Winthrop University Hospital.
  4. Good evening everyone. I've been on my liquid diet since last Monday and I have not consumed anything besides what's allowed..except for tonight ????. I'm so ashamed and disgusted in myself. I had a small fries and 1.5 mcdoubles from McDonald's. I honestly don't know what came over me. I've had so much self control up until this point. Has anyone ever gone off their liquid diet 6 days out from surgery? If so, did your surgery go according to schedule? I'm nervous because I don't want the burger and fries to negate all of my hard work this past week. I was looking at my test results from my abdominal sonogram and they said "LIVER: The liver is normal in size and echogenicity. No focal lesions are identified. No evidence of fatty infiltration of the liver." Now, based on those exact words, I would think that that means my liver wasn't/isn't enlarged nor fatty..? I just hope I didn't sabotage everything!

    Disappointed in myself

I just wanted to update you guys! I finally got in touch with the bariatric coordinator for my surgeon's office and she told me that we can still go ahead with my surgery on Monday! I was so scared that it would have been postponed. After my slip up, I've stuck to the liquid diet meticulously. I can't wait!

    Disappointed in myself

@ did you mention that you ate something to your surgeon? @@Deja007 when is your surgery? Do you plan on telling your surgeon that you are something? That's my biggest concern..that I told them and they won't do the surgery. I figured I'd be honest but I hope I didn't shoot myself in the foot by doing that.

    Disappointed in myself

@@KristenLe I felt/feel so guilty that I had to call and tell her. I called twice actually and left 2 messages lol. I'm gonna call again at when she gets in the morning at 10 because I'm gonna be thinking about it all day. @ that's funny! I take it you had pizza during your pre op diet? If so, did you tell your surgeon and/or what happened? @@kyboo1972 thank you for your encouraging words! I plan on finishing this last week strong.

    Disappointed in myself

@@KristenLe thank you for your words of encouragement! @@busybeebug thank you for your words of encouragement as well! Did you tell your surgeon about you slipping up? I felt extremely guilty so I called my patient liaison and left her a message telling her what I did.
  9. Good evening everyone! Yesterday I got the great news that I have been approved for the sleeve! It was submitted on the 6th and approved yesterday (the 12th). Today, I received a call from the office to schedule and I'm all set for October 3rd! I can't believe I'm in the home stretch now. It seems like yesterday that I went to my seminar. Now here I am 6 months later with my surgery in just under 3 weeks. I start my 2 week liquid diet on Monday, which just so happens to be my birthday! Even though I now have to celebrate a day early, this is the best present I could have ever gotten!

    Approved and scheduled!

Thank you for the congratulations everyone! Liquid diet, here I come!
  11. Hi everyone! Today is my second weigh in at my doctor's office and I must admit I'm kinda nervous. Right now, it's that time of the month for me (sorry if tmi) and I'm bloated. I've been trying to get rid of the excess Water weight but I don't know if it's working. Has anyone had experience with their weight going up and down during the 6 month process? Does the weight from the weigh ins really make a difference as long as at the end of the 6 months, you're either the same weight as you were at the beginning or you've lost weight? I have anthem blue cross blue shield if that makes a difference. Thanks in advance!
  12. Thank you everyone for your replies! i just love this website. I love the support. I told one of my only friends that I was getting the surgery and she made me feel so stupid about it. I regret even telling her but that showed me that I should just keep this to myself.
  13. @@heidikat72 About the patient that gained 1 lb...is that the total amount of weight gain for the whole 6 months? Or was their weight fluctuating and they gained 1lb and then lost it? I hope I'm making sense because they seem like they make more sense when I say them out loud as opposed to typing them lol. At my weigh in today, I gained 1 lb from last month. I have my period now and that 1 lb is most likely Water weight. I called my patient liaison at my surgeon's office and she left a message that said something along the lines of "if your weight evens out at the end, you'll be alright". I'm just hoping that when I submit all of my stuff to the insurance company, they don't look at this 1 lb gain as me not trying to lose or something.
  14. @tooswife@KristenLe thanks for your input! I'm trying not to worry about the scale because I know they're all different and my weight is most likely different on every scale. I'm just scared because I was told I have the 6 month requirement and I don't want to jeopardize my approval at the end of the process.

    Great to hear!
  16. Hey everyone! I have a quick question. Will an insurance company that requires the 6 month wait waive said wait if the patient's bmi is over 50? I ask because I've seen some people say that it's true and I'm wondering if this has happened to anyone.

  18. Hello everyone! My name is Joye. I'm 23 and I have a son. I'm hoping to get gastric sleeve surgery. Tomorrow is the weight loss seminar that I have to attend in order to make an appointment with the doctor and I am so anxious/nervous/excited lol. I'm just ready to get the ball rolling. I look forward to documenting my journey here and meeting other people who've gone through this!

    Waiving the 6 month requirement?

Thanks everyone for taking time to respond! Yes, I know that the six months is a time for us to learn about living healthy after surgery. I wasn't downplaying that at all. I was just curious because I was reading a few posts on here and on another website and some people were mentioning their six months being waived for whatever reason.

    Introducing Myself

Thank you for your responses everyone! The seminar went great. My first appointment with the surgeon is April 15th, next Friday. My insurance requires the six month "diet" so I'm just ready to start getting everything together.
