Approval with low bmi and no comorbidities?
rebelchelz replied to TJ1257's topic in Insurance & Financing
I have BCBSOK 35 bmi with mild sleep apnea but they wouldn't have approved me without that one Comorbidity. I didn't know I had it until I did a sleep study. You should call your insurance & see what their stips are. It was worth it to me to get sleep study Sent from my VS990 using the BariatricPal App -

New surgeon visit today went very good. She isn't going to have me repeat everything I have already done. all I have to do is meet with her Nutritionist on 9/26. Then they submit to insurance.....everything should be smooth since this is a required Blue Distinction Center....then we schedule preop & surgery. I started this on February 24th & this is the 3rd surgeon but I really fell hopeful that I'm finally on the right path!! HAPPY DANCE HAPPY DANCE HAPPY DANCE!!!!

Denial?! [emoji54][emoji24]
rebelchelz replied to Mysticpink74's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Mine was approved but I changed surgeons because new surgeon was in network but it was denied because hospital wasn't a blue distinction center. Now found new surgeon in network & at proper facility. Insurance can be very finiky. Sent from my VS990 using the BariatricPal App -

After I met w/ the 2nd surgeon back in May that Dr. office took forever to go through my records to see what else that Dr. wanted me to do....even after insurance had approved my surgery w/ 1st surgeon back in April. The 2nd surgeon submitted to insurance on 8/17. I just found out yesterday that the insurance denied the new surgeon because the facility he does surgery at is not a Blue Distinction Center. I wish the 2nd surgeon would have figured out my benefits back in May when I when to see him the first time. Sooooooo I found a new surgeon yesterday that is in my insurance plan in-network provider & performs this surgery at a in-network hospital that is a Blue Distinction Center. So my journey still continues, this new surgeons office seems to have their stuff together much better so hopefully will be through this new program pretty quick & get scheduled!!! I was so upset yesterday I was almost in tears, but everything happen for a reason & this will be getting done soon enough!

Yes it is Lana Nelson. I already like this Dr. office so much better!! They seem to really be on it! They understand that I have been at this w/ different Doctors since Feb and anxiously needing it done before the end of the year. They already verified my benefits the day I called and since it was approved in April hopefully I won't have to go through anymore insurance hoops. Her office called me yesterday & my consultation visit will be Sept 16th....that is the earliest they can get me in. They called me this morning to verify how many NUT visits I had already had so hopefully we can get something scheduled shortly after the consult visit!!

I love body pump class. I have taken it at the YMCA for years. I haven't gone in about 6months but use to go regularly. It is one of those classes that you get out what you put in. Go and see if it's up your alley. Just start with very very very light or no weights at all if you aren't experience with using any. Just take it slow you can always add more & go harder the more you are experience with it. It is definitely a class for beginner or experienced people, you use what is good for you. Most importantly listen to your body & make sure you are using proper form. Congrats on your journey!! I'm so very ready to start mine!!

Switching surgeons - is it possible?
rebelchelz replied to BexRNY's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I also changed surgeons in May because new surgeon was a provider in network. It has taken a little while but they finally resubmitted to insurance this past weem Sent from my VS990 using the BariatricPal App -
how long does the process take?
rebelchelz replied to mariah100707's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I was already approved for the surgery from my insurance in April. I changed surgeons in May because I found one in my insurance network and still waiting. It can be a long tedious process. My Doctor office is the reason it is taking so long in my opinion but I keep telling myself everything happens for a reason..... Good luck & hopefully it will be a quicker process for you!! -
Finally heard back from Dr office and the submitted to insurance on tues!! This procedure has already been approve in April but I changed surgeons in May so new surgeon had to resubmit so still waiting!!! Sent from my VS990 using the BariatricPal App

Very emotional and need support
rebelchelz replied to Admanda's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Oh my!! I'm so sorry he is treating you this way. I personally believe you don't need to be with someone that doesn't encourage you to be the best you no matter what your size. You don't deserve to be treated that way. Sent from my VS990 using the BariatricPal App -
How exciting!! I'm ready to schedule but the crazy Dr. office keeps putting me off. Finally when I called last week they got the finally sent the Psychiatrist the correct consent form so I verified they received it. That should be the last thing we were waiting for. I called last Wednesday & the girl that will be checking my file was off until today....so now I'm waiting very impatiently for her to call me to SCHEDULE!!! so excited for you...I wish I had a date for mine. Good luck on your journey!!

Hi Sarah! I'm Chelle. I don't have a date yet but it's very close. I have everything done & waiting for a call to schedule!! It is very stressful. I just can't wait!! I think the tickets are in the profile?? Sent from my VS990 using the BariatricPal App -

It has been weeks with me trying to get in contact with the Dr. office to see what else needs done in order to get this scheduled. Finally I called them again yesterday & a lady that is the new Dr. assistant was very nice & helpful. She pulled my chart when I explained I believe all my requirements were done 2 weeks ago. She verified that everything looks checked off & that she would have my file put to the top of the stack & someone should be calling me to schedule. Do to the run around I feel I have received from this office I asked when they would be calling me. She said they would call by the end of the week. So if I don't hear back by tomorrow then I'm calling tomorrow afternoon. I'm really trying to be patient but it's driving me crazy!!! Seems there is a lot of disorganization. But hopefully I will be able to post that I am scheduled very soon!!

Just filed with insurance. 35 bmi with sleep apnea. Sleep Apnea is mild but they did prescribe a CPAP. Worried might get denied since isn't severe sleep apnea. Insurance with BCBS OK. Anyone else have this & what was outcome? Sent from my VS990 using the BariatricPal App
-
No I didn't know until after my sleep study. I'm a snorer as well. The surgeon didn't think I was going to have sleep apnea because he said my neck wasn't very big and how I had answered the questions he asked. But he was Wrong!! I did & I was also so excited to have it. So I totally understand praying for it....i did the same thing LOL. I pretty much figured that night of my sleep study. I had a split study so when they came in the second half of the night to put a CPAP on me I kinda figured I must have had it. But even after I got the CPAP and we resubmitted to insurance I was a nervous wreck until I new 100% it was approved. So I will pray they send you for a CPAP after the study!! Good luck & keep us posted!!!

Yes it was accepted. Insurance has approved now just waiting for Dr to get back with me to schedule!! Sent from my VS990 using the BariatricPal App

Of course, no prob! I have BCBSOK. They declined first because my BMI was 35 & they require it to be 40. But found out i have sleep apnea so with that Comorbidity we resubmitted & it was approved!! Sent from my VS990 using the BariatricPal App
