Thanks all. I just really can't believe I feel as great as I do. I also have all of you to thank for the advice, inspiration and much needed laughter during some of my darkest days. I'm scared as hell, but the whole purpose of my surgery was to stop existing, and start living. And @@Daisee68 I too just started. Last week during a walk I felt like running. I did. Didn't make it far but I did it and I promised myself I would keep it up. This afternoon I went for a very uncoordinated walk/jog and it felt good. I even heard clapping. Turns out the clapping was my ass cheeks but for those few seconds I was inspired. So inspired I came home and signed up. Again, it might be the sleeve helping, but if it wasn't for all of you and your inspiration, this would never be possible!!!

It is very draining. I am 6 weeks out today, and on normal foods, but I still have days I get wiped out. Good thing is is its not as bad. Even with those draining moments, I've really started to feel pretty fantastic. Hang in there. I promise you will too!!

What does it feel like when you eat too much or too fast?

I experience the same as @@Samara1974 Your Dr is right. You.... will know. -
Its becoming harder to get food/drink down
Andrea72 replied to Reena 4/05/16's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I too am 6 weeks and suffered this very issue just last week. Thanks to the advice of some people on here, I found out I was eating too fast, and not chewing well enough. Once I started slowing down and really chewing, all symptoms went away and I'm back to eating with no problem at all. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
Oh, now that I'm aware, and brought back out the small utensils, I'm back to eating the 3 ounces as I was prior to those few days. Who knew using a regular fork and normal size bites would cause such issues? It's crazy, but it's my new life, and I'm enjoying every minute of it....including all the learning curves. Thanks for the response!!! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

I'm a little over 5 weeks out and so far so good except for one thing. These last 3 days when I go to eat, I've only managed a bite or two before feeling full. I haven't yet experienced anything like this, so I'm not sure if I could have caused an issue, or if I'm swallowing too much air. That's what it really feels like. So my question is, is there anything I can do to try and stop this? My calories have dropped tremendously cause I feel full all the time, so I'm worried Ill go back to feeling like crap like in the beginning. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Congratulations on your decision. I'm only 6 weeks post op, but I can assure you that it is not the easy way out. At least for me anyway. There have been a lot of ups and downs, but I do not regret my decision. I too encountered a lot of negativity but I'm hoping to use that to my advantage in keeping me determined to stay on track. I'm the worlds worst at giving advice, so I can't offer any suggestions, but I will say please don't take it personally. Sounds to me as if your friend is a little jealous. Maybe she isn't fortunate enough to have it, so she claims to be against it just to make herself feel better. I've realized I'm guilty of doing the same thing when it comes to certain situations. Unfortunately you might loose friends during the process. I have and I'm just starting out, but we are doing this for ourselves. For our health. You just continue doing what you need for you, and I know things will be better than ever. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Thanks @@jaxmom I've just been using salad plates, but toddler plates sound way more enjoyable. No husband to deal with, but I've found my 10 year old son has opted to eat with my baby spoons as well, so I guess I should buy us each a new place setting. @@Ryan TN I joked about it, but I really did bring back out the baby spoons. It has helped tremendously. I just didn't think eating with a normal fork would cause all the issues, but that along with not being aware of my chewing really did it. Thanks again. I hope all the unforeseen issues will have such an easy fix. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Oh my gosh!! I am so sorry. I can't even imagine how disappointed you are. I absolutely hate when people tell me "there is a reason for everything", but I can't help but feel in your case maybe there was. I'm not saying you are pregnant, but maybe this avoided something that could have gone horribly wrong. I truly am sorry. Definitely a mixup. I mean the OTC pregnancy test didn't pick up anything at all so the lab shouldn't have either. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

After the advice given, the next day I paid special attention to taking smaller bites, and eating more slowly. It worked. It's just so easy for me to forget about the surgery, and I'll chug a big ol glass of Water, or sit down and scarf whatever I've made. Wish I could pay someone to follow me around reminding me not to gulp and to take my time. Then again....they'd probably piss me off so it's best to remember it on my own. Lol. Packing for Surgery...
Andrea72 replied to ashmarie1425's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The two things I took that really helped not only at the hospital, but during the first week, was Gas x gas strips (not every hospital lets you use them) and a front closure bra with no underwire. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -

Well....@@KindaFamiliar , I'm great except for the slight issue but thanks to you and @@Ryan TN , I totally see my problem. Like I said since I finally started feeling really good, my mind isn't consumed with the surgery so I've been slacking in the slow down, small bites, and chew department. I'm still measuring....but I'm gulping. Thanks for the tips, gentleman. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

And since I started, @@Ryan TN, I've only been able to handle roughly 3 ounces of whatever it was.....way more than boiled eggs......but the salads, broiled fish, and grilled chicken, which I've all handled no problem, now it seems to be either getting stuck, or just one bite and I'm done. After reviewing @@Inner Surfer Girls wisdom, I'm sure I'm probably taking too big of a bite. Feeling so good lately has caused me to forget the surgery at times. I was actually allowed solids starting in week 3 without any problem. That's why it's throwing me off now since I'm eating things I have already tried. Maybe I'm not aware as much and taking too big of bites. Thanks so much. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

I love iHydrate for fluids and My Fitness Pal for calories, protein, and carbs.

I'm so glad for this post. I too have wondered the same thing but was too scared to mention it. I'm definitely one that has hidden behind my size for years. Not sure how I'm going to handle the attention, but one thing I am hoping to find is my backbone!!

It is very normal. I'm pretty sure my second week was my worst week. I was a hot mess. In my 5th week now and I can happily say I'm starting to really feel great!! You got this!!!
