GERD....it is just regular heartburn?
Andrea72 replied to gina171's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
@@gina171 I suffered with gerd for almost two years prior to surgery. I was taking Omeprazol on a daily basis. Sometimes it helped and sometimes it did not. Even with this info, and after a thorough EGD, my surgeon still recommended the sleeve. I honestly wasn't sure what I would find on the "other side" but I know I wasn't expecting this. I am 8 weeks post op sleeve, and I can honestly say I have yet to experience any signs of gerd. Someone once stated it was because of being in the liquids stage. Yeah....I did so well with everything I was allowed to start normal foods the day after my 2 week post op appt. I know everyone is different, but I do know at this point, it seems to have worked some sort of gerd miracle. Lol. Good luck in your decision. It's definitely a lot to think about. -

Switching from bypass to sleeve

You crack me up!!! -
@@mngreeneyes You CAN do it!!! 3 years ago I lost my mother unexpectedly. Those 4 weeks completely changed the way I view life. The two main things I strive to live by is 1) Always do what makes me happy and 2) Never let the thoughts of others break me. That second one I constantly struggle with, but I'm hoping with the weight loss, I will gain confidence and a backbone. Whatever happens, Pam, you do you, and don't ever let anyone break your spirit!!!

Thanks for the heads up @@mngreeneyes Although I don't think the best of the hospitals NUT, I'm one very lucky person to have found such a caring, and personable, surgeon. Living 3 hours away from his office, he had given me his private cell number. That day, I actually contacted him to get his thoughts. After a long Q and A, he thought it was fantastic, but he too recommended I listen to my body. He also mentioned that he wished he lived closer, so he could run it with me. As for nutrition, both trainers I am now involved with have nutrition training , with the USAT certified trainer holding a masters in nutrition. I may have gone a little overboard with the USAT trainer, but I'm seriously wanting to do everything right. And please don't feel like a failure. You are anything but. I know it must be disappointing, but you aren't giving up....you are taking care of yourself!!!

Dyeing hair before surgery?
Andrea72 replied to juliawhatever's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Definitely not a stupid question!! As a professional stylist, I will give my best advice. One thing you should know is all the meds and anesthesia will wreak havoc. Unfortunately it can, and most likely will cause dryness and possibly some shedding. What I would recommend is getting a good cleanser. Yes, there is a difference between normal shampoo and cleanser. The cleanser will help rid your hair of the impurities caused from those things. As for the color, I'm not going to down you for applying it at home, but considering your upcoming surgery, I will offer this last piece of advice. Only a stylist that has seen you, and knows of the surgery, can custom fit a formula for you. This would be way more healthier/softer on your hair than a "one size fits all" color in a box. Congratulations and good luck on your journey. -
Thanks, Pam. I need a great cheering section.

I have not, but I just looked it up and I can assure you I will watch it in the very near future!!

Thanks for the encouragement and advice @@Dub After a minor setback on Monday(sick child), I got started with a few things yesterday. Man was it tough, but I was happy I did it. I'm still a little leery on the whole thing and I guess my trainer could sense that cause he kept telling me to get out of my head and break through my comfort zone. It's kinda hard to push through when you think the Grim Reaper is waiting on the other side. Lol And I'm not one for shopping, I actually despise it, so I figured I'd just go for the best the first time around. No shoe, or support bra, graveyard for me. Speaking of support bras....those things are no joke. There was one I was trying on and got it stuck halfway down. My arms were trapped in the air. I swear for a few minutes I looked like one of those wacky air ballon people thingys you see at the front of used car lots. It....was....awful!!! Lots of heavy breathing and sweating. On the plus side, I hadn't done that kind of cardio in years

Not sure what kind of phone you have but my iPhone has a "reply" bar at the bottom of the thread. Similar to if I was sending text messages.
