I'm so frustrated. My surgery was scheduled for May 4th and I found out today my insurance (UHC) denied the authorization stating that I did not meet the qualifications because I did not have three qualifying health conditions. My insurance only requires me to have a BMI over 40 (mine is 42) to qualify OR a BMI over 35 and under 40 with three qualifying health conditions. I am so frustrated. How do I appeal the denial? Thanks in advance!

My sleep apnea was diagnosed after I was denied the first time for not having a comorbidity. We resubmitted this past Wednesday. (crossing fingers) I am just wondering if they will count my 6 months of weight loss because now it is older than two years. Do they go back to the initial date you filed, or use the date you filed appealed as the two year mark? If nothing else in 2 months I will have another 6 months of physician monitored dieting under my belt, just hoping it will work for the initial date filled. Thanks for any input!

I'm also 8/8. I did all my lab stuff and pre op appt last week, tomorrow I take my preop class at the hospital.

I too started mine today and I was right at 700 calories, but I had a lot of Popsicles and broth along with my shakes.

Was your mild sleep apnea excepted at a comorbidity?
