Prior history of weight loss
Read2016 replied to Jenjen2016's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Like others said, it's up to insurance... Mine put a limit of it being within the past two years...I know my surgeon has 6 forms to be filled out one for each month... Maybe the Dr. you saw for the weight loss might be willing to write something or fill out the forms.. Worth asking "We can't solve problems by using the same kind of thinking we used when we created them" Einstein -

I'm watching this now... If we don't get whose coming into the country under control we can expect this to be occurring more often.. Use your vote in November wisely... This thread started out as a person expressing their opinion, it turned into exactly what he was expressing his opinion about... Masking plain old nasty comment with tough love doesn't make them any less nasty... As others have said if you can't offer advice or support than don't participate in that thread... Maybe create a thread to exchange nasty snippy comments amongst one another... "We can't solve problems by using the same kind of thinking we used when we created them" Einstein

Frequently Asked Questions

@caridickerson hair loss seems to be the norm after surgery, not something I'm looking forward to... You might want to considered treating the hair you have better... Use sulfate free shampoos, get a keratin treatment and a good deep conditioner... Maybe add highlights or change your hair to a darker color... Speak with your stylist, if you don't have one now is probably an excellent time to get one. "We can't solve problems by using the same kind of thinking we used when we created them" Einstein -
I think it could be possible if things with your insurance and the surgeon's schedule fall into place.... If your required to do 6 months supervised diet but you have been working with another doctor such as primary care they may fill out the paperwork to move the situation along. This from Sephora helps me when my skin gets super dry in Winter, it has something in it to sooth the little cuts that can happen from dry skin... It's about $30 but gives the skin relief. "We can't solve problems by using the same kind of thinking we used when we created them" Einstein

@lilbeanie... In my costco there in the deli section... Not sure which aisle.. Maybe next time... "We can't solve problems by using the same kind of thinking we used when we created them" Einstein

Anyone over the age of 40 NOT have loose skin?
Read2016 replied to fancypants67's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I'm over 40, 45 to be exact... Similiar stats to all of you 5'4 236... This is the most obese I've been, sort of new for me to be 200 plus... The weight keeps rapidly piling on... My surgeon said you will get loose skin wear you mostly carry your weight... In my case it's the belly.. One fear of having the surgery was how would I pay for plastics but since I figured that one out I'm good... Yes weight training is a game changer, im pre op but headed to the gym today to get a trainer "We can't solve problems by using the same kind of thinking we used when we created them" Einstein -
@ the original poster was kind enough to not put the people he was referring to on blast, looks like they did that themselves... "We can't solve problems by using the same kind of thinking we used when we created them" Einstein

Anyone dreading being alone in hospital?

Thanks for bringing attention to this problem... I guess I've been on here about six weeks... The sarcastic and rude comments I find are attention seeking on behalf of those who write them. Those kind of comments shut down the conversation of the thread and defeat the information sharing that could unfold on a threat. This is a forum for adults, it's simple to say we agree to disagree and let it be... Odd too how once they create drama, they go off and create threads about more positive topics... I feel on this forum we need to show extra sensitivity as the surgical process and the changes it brings has people a somewhat stressed to begin with... It's not what you say it how you say it, points can be expressed with sensitivity and kindness.

Changing my eating habits before surgery.
Read2016 replied to sheronep's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I personally only agree with Protein bars as a last resort, they are processed protein/food... My plan discourages shakes after week 3 post op... I personally like that idea, the world is full of food and we have to learn to make good choice from the options surrounding us... After surgery your also retraining your stomach, that happens best with food... I know any protein is better than no protein but in the pre op mode your not going to have any eating restrictions that would cause certain food to be a problem etc... How do I tell my surgeon he screwed up?
Read2016 replied to thomas1984's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I think before you make a statement like that to the surgeon, your going to need some medical evidence to back it up... I'm not sure he will even engage you in this conversation because if you can show evidence he screwed up that would be a malpractice lawsuit... Have you lost any weight from having the sleeve? I think they are tasty, I usually take them off the stick and add them to salad... I'm pre op so I can do that lol... I thought the price was good for all you get... If you live near trader joe's they have grilled chicken strip which are also tasty, depending on where I'm doing errands depends on which one I get... Let me know if you like them Why can't you make that sauce with Greek yogurt, I know I've seen recipes online for that.
