If we think of this as retraining our stomach, I guess we should ask ourselves how do we want to deal with drinking with eating for the rest of our lives... I'm just sayin, I know those of you who strictly adhere to the rules are going to yell at me lol.. "We can't solve problems by using the same kind of thinking we used when we created them" Einstein

I would not worry about liver shrinking... My surgeon as well as others surgeon don't require the two week liquid diet... Different surgeon are adhering to pre op diet practice based on the research provided to them. On advice I'm adding a disclaimer to my statement. I'm not a doctor nor is the information I shared intended for anyone to take as a reason to skip their pre-op diet. Please follow your specific directions to the best of your ability. Did not intend to scare you, sorry... My attention was just to alert you to the hidden sugars in yogurt.. Sounds like a good pick "We can't solve problems by using the same kind of thinking we used when we created them" Einstein

Toothpaste on them dries then right out... Otherwise a trip to the dermatologist might be in order. You might also try adding lemon to your Water, it suppose to help detox the skin. "We can't solve problems by using the same kind of thinking we used when we created them" Einstein

@mich74... You may want to reconsider using dannon... Yogurt is very deceptive, many yogurts have tons of sugar.... "We can't solve problems by using the same kind of thinking we used when we created them" Einstein

My nut said in the first week or two, you drink 4oz of the Protein shake within a 30 minute time frame... "We can't solve problems by using the same kind of thinking we used when we created them" Einstein -
A person I know who had WLS was advised one sip of Water for every four bites... That seems reasonable to me. "We can't solve problems by using the same kind of thinking we used when we created them" Einstein

Pre-op clothes shopping
Read2016 replied to abuckeyeleaf's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I would only suggest some waist less dresses, they are already big and flowy they could only look better as you drop the weight... Depending on their color use could use them into fall with leggings, tall boots and a sweater... If you must buy something. Otherwise just holding on til you shrink out of your current clothes would probably be more fun. If you need to shop get a new lip gloss it will still fit later on lol. @ginacampbell... I think one of your post mention being disabled, in most countries that would mean you have a social worker, case worker or similar idea but may go by a different name in UK... Please reach out to them, it's very possible they can get you short term home care... "We can't solve problems by using the same kind of thinking we used when we created them" Einstein -
Chia seeds are very fine not like tomato seeds... Hemp seeds are another good source of Protein and tasty in yogurt. "We can't solve problems by using the same kind of thinking we used when we created them" Einstein

Potential Nursing strike and surgery date
Read2016 replied to lakegirlmn's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
My opinion might be left field but historically how many times have nurses been on strike to the point it effected patient care... The hospital can't afford to shut down business... You daughter only has one graduation I feel your getting ready for the surgery don't allowed you to be as engaged in the day as you might like... I'm leaning towards taking you gamble there won't be a strike.... While the surgeon said 5 weeks, it could be sooner given the fact surgeries are cancelled rescheduled all the time... I think you feel better heading into surgery knowing your were able to enjoy the graduation party to the fullest. How did you know it was right for you?

I see my quality of life declining even while I ramping up weight loss tactics.... If I want to have a long quality life now is the time to do this... I was on the fence at first but as I have learned more I know I'm comfortable with it... It takes one back somewhat when they hear a large portion of their stomach is being removing but when you see how that fits into the big picture it all makes sense... Columbia/New York Presbyterian vs NYU
Read2016 replied to jjyogalove's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
I had a consult at NYU with Dr. fielding... NYU is my go to for all things medical, not in this case.... There was something about the vibe that had a factory feel to it, I didn't feel the doctor looked at me while I was speaking. The information he provided regarding leak rate for the sleeve etc. was concerning and even more so because they didn't seem to know why... I'm now moving forward with my surgery at Lennox hill... Lenox hill is a bariatric center of excellence, a blue shield blue cross center of distinction, they have a team approach, it has a much more personalized feel. The surgeon has a great realistic reassuring approach, I just love him. The Nut was super sweet. The support groups meet twice a month. The Doctor Struggle
Read2016 replied to MayfairDuLioncourt's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm not sure why the pcp has the right to veto the surgery... Their role is to order the some of the pre surgical testing so you can be medically cleared for surgery... I'm seeing my pcp Monday, not for permission but so she can order whatever test the surgeon wants on his paper... If you go to the pcp saying you need clearance for breast implants are they going to say oh no I'm not doing that I think you breast look fine.... I agree, young skin is going to bounce back with weight training... You seem to be on the lower end of the WLS spectrum... I'm close to your Weight but 45, don't think the out look for my skin is as promising lok "We can't solve problems by using the same kind of thinking we used when we created them" Einstein

Are you sure the plan doesn't say 6 months weight management in the past two years? There's lots of stories on here but this is the first I'm hearing of having a 2 year medically supervised diet, 24 months of visiting the doctor seems extreme. I'm wondering if some of these outrageous post such as I ate a steak three weeks out are real or are they just attention seekers? You got a forum here for support mixed with people struggling with weight, self esteem, possible lonely and it opens the flood gates for attention seekers... One thing is clear it seems everyone is told to stay away from steak til the stomach has healed significantly. The things no one tells you about post op life...
Read2016 replied to lexiemustang's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Being skinny isn't solving all anyone's problems... No one walks through life problem free... Going from obese to skinny is more like trading problems... You still going to have to cope with life... The good news is you will be doing it in a more healthy more Moblie body... "We can't solve problems by using the same kind of thinking we used when we created them" Einstein -
This is an interesting thing to consider... As an obese person being judged so much by the outside I tend to judge people by the expertise they have in their field... I do see why some of these Nuts rub people the wrong way... I walked into my nut appointment and she had a food label ready to teach me to read... I was comfortable saying you want me to read this to you? I nicely let her know it maybe better to see what people's level of knowledge rather than assuming they don't know... After that she was good because she was talking about the post op diet and I had tons of questions. "We can't solve problems by using the same kind of thinking we used when we created them" Einstein
