@veteranwoman... Agreed on the wine... I know my surgeon mention he sometimes have patients who do not follow up.. Boggles the mind to understand the thought process of some people. "We can't solve problems by using the same kind of thinking we used when we created them" Einstein

I'm pre-op too, I've been doing Protein no carbs... Got to say trader joe's is my go to place to get easy things to make... For lunch I do grilled chicken, tuna or chicken sausage... I'll cute them up add cheese, black olives, spinach etc... I work so I tend to learn towards things that travel easy... I'm trying to drop a few pounds before surgery... Down 7 since May 25th, it's a struggle... I think your lunch choices would depend on what you like... A Greek yogurt with fruits and hemp seed is another I have for lunch... how long is approved insurance good for before getting surgery
Read2016 replied to trekker954's topic in Insurance & Financing
The admin girl must be nutty, why order test to clear you for surgery than offer you surgery without the test result? Seems to be a sure way to lead to a malpractice lawsuit... Your were 100% right to have a blow out. "We can't solve problems by using the same kind of thinking we used when we created them" Einstein -
Anyone chose self pay due to impatience with ins?
Read2016 replied to fits_like_a_sleeve's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think the decision to self-pay is based on your financial situation... If paying isn't going to financially devast you, go for it... I too thought of self paying but decided I'd rather just wait out the insurance and spend any extra money on getting a personal trainer and buying new clothes... In addition if I were to need any plastic treatments there's no way insurance is covering that... I'm waiting out the insurance to give myself a financial cushion for things I know insurance isn't going to pay for... Good luck with your decision "We can't solve problems by using the same kind of thinking we used when we created them" Einstein -

How long do you need to take the Protein Shakes for
Read2016 replied to Razzi's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
My thought is most important to get your Protein in, as a quick protein fix shakes work well... I'm told to move away from them at three weeks and towards real food... I do feel Protein Shakes will be my go to for days I'm coming up short on protein. "We can't solve problems by using the same kind of thinking we used when we created them" Einstein -

@@Jeanette kennon... Your stats make you lower on the BMI chart... They say lower BMI takes longer to lose.. When I read the doctor made you cry I cringed.. Pre op I've had more doctors than I care to count tell me I'm obese without offering any solutions... I would imagine as you get more active your weight will drop quickier, 5 weeks out your really just getting back to yourself and probably not 100% on track meeting protein/liquid goal.. If you getting in too little your body is probably holding the weight... Good luck "We can't solve problems by using the same kind of thinking we used when we created them" Einstein -
Another idea might be to infuse Water with cucumber etc.. And add unflavored Protein... "We can't solve problems by using the same kind of thinking we used when we created them" Einstein

Can I ask where you are from that you see a nurse instead of the doctor? I know there are some states doing that... I haven't encountered that here in NY but if it saves money I'm sure it will be here soon enough. "We can't solve problems by using the same kind of thinking we used when we created them" Einstein -

Do you have a post op instruction packet from the Nut? If so, your answer will be in there for you... Each surgeon moves people along the food stages at a different pace. "We can't solve problems by using the same kind of thinking we used when we created them" Einstein -
@vsgann2014... I don't have a pre op liquid diet... Just liquid diet 24 hours before... My surgeon is at a bariatric center of excellence so I can only assume he's work from current research... Irregardless whose surgeon says what I think all the matter is we all reach our desired goal "We can't solve problems by using the same kind of thinking we used when we created them" Einstein

I'm pre-op too... I don't think I've been having food funerals in that I'm pigging out on certain things but I've become more aware of food... Yes I'm obese so I haven't just discovered food lol... I've already started on a high Protein diet since May 25 when I met with the surgeon.. The other night I was wanting some ice cream, I got it but I found after a few licks I decided I just didn't need anymore... I feel like I'm more conscious about the fact bad food choices combined with overeating has gotten me to where I need surgery... I do plan at some point after surgery to have foods that are ice cream Cookies etc... But in moderation... Cookies are a trigger for me so those I may not have for a long while out from surgery... 2 months post-op ! Green smoothie cleanse?

@finnallyfree what are the benefits of cleansing? "We can't solve problems by using the same kind of thinking we used when we created them" Einstein -
My surgeon said its your weight at time of consult with him... To me that makes sense, if your on a diet your going to drop some weight most likely... Most obese people have little problem dropping weight, it's keeping it off that's the problem.... The insurance thing is the most frustrating part of the journey, we have a disease and were left wondering if we will be approved for treatment... It's just so wrong!!! @@Jcfresh if your here in the US, the is no letting you see the doctor, you have a right to see the doctor when you request to see the doctor... The surgery is about improving your quality of life... If having a social beer is your thing, when the time is right why not see if your sleeve can tolerate it...
