I'm still pre- op but have a question.... See many post about how hard it is to get the Water down. Sounds like it would be easy, what makes it so difficult? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Right, but what about the millions of people who survived and are doing well! I bet the reason is because many of us keep it secret due to people's ignorance, so they probably know plenty of people who've had it, but don't know they've had it.In general I find people tend to thrive on drama, someone dying injects that into the conversation more than the person who did well.Guess it's the glass half full or half empty thing. You can die if you have cormodites from being obese but they just think you will die from surgery. I guess they rather have you die slow rather than quick lol I notice a lot of people mentioning we could educate these people about what the surgery is all about, I spend my entire day working we kids who struggle to read ( very rewarding and fun), adults can educate themselves via Google. Confused and need opinions

I'm pre surgery.. My thought is your not there yet, maybe you got it in you to try the excercise diet route one more time. I think each person who does this has the Aha moment.. For me I just can't continue the cycle of the gain/ lose going on any longer. I was scared of the surgery but after attending the meeting run by the surgeon that fear has subsided... I would suggest you find a pre-surgery meeting run by a surgeon and just gather info. No harm in even having a consult with one if your insurance allows. Better for you to make this decision based on being informed rather than deciding based on people's opinions who may or may not be informed about the surgery. As you read on the threads here, finding support from others in our life isn't a given. Those who haven't struggled with weight, just don't know. Good luck Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
Here's a reality check, when you lose weight from the sleeve, you will move better, attract more women and have more opportunity to answer your own question... You can skip reporting back at least for me lol Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

My dad use to say when their talking about you it gives someone else a chance... Basically people are always talking about someone one and it changes from day to day... Sorry you have others telling your story, rather than them allowing you to tell it Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -

I'm still pre surgery, last year when I was diagnosed as prediabetic, I had to eat similarly to the way you do after WLS... I use this Protein powder with Water and would add cinnamon, flax seed and sometimes Peanut Butter etc... I have found ready to drink Protein shakes are awful... This one is Cookies and cream flavor, got it at costco... Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

I'm sure you'll will have some remarks for me but whatever.' This is a place to gather information, on WLS. If the topic of the thread isn't something you want information about please refrain from bringing your "tone" to the thread. As a pre surgery person I appreciate you sharing this. Just keep in mind the people who review documents job is to not have the insurance company pay out, I feel they deny people just to see how willing they are to fight it... Good luck Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
Yes I agree it effects the healing... Quitting is the way to go but so much change at once... In reality smokers get surgery all the time, this is a planned surgery. An unplanned surgery would not allow time to quit... Yes I know I need to quit, been cutting back. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Actually the artificial ingredients in diet soda can be problematic if your prediabetic. Diet soda with caffeine is not hydrating. I was addicted to Diet Pepsi, 2 2 liters on most days. Still enjoy one now and again. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -

Can you ladies give some info on how much overall weight you lost? Did the breast go smaller right away or was it once you surpassed a certain amount of weight? I'm c cup now, this might be a side effect of the surgery not to be liking... Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -

Just wanted to add, the only two surgery related complication I'm aware of are staple leaks and GERD... Pre-existing conditions can make surgery more risky and cause complications but those would not be a direct result of the surgery. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

I like what I read about BCBS eliminating the six months thing, do you know where I could read more about that? Had known about the position statement and have been googling... My BCBS policy has 1/5/16.... Haven't been denied yet but am drafting a letter just in case, did mention that position in it. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -

I think this is like anything else in life, some people follow things to the letter of the law... Other like to know the rules and modify them to fit their lifestyle.... My aunt has gastric about 12 years ago was very successful, she was taught by her surgeon that the surgery helps you to retrain your stomach, everything in moderation. No one can foresee the future.... One way to lower your chance of complication is to extensively research your surgeon... Once you find out about his complication rate, you can feel confident... I met with one surgeon told me he has a 10% staple leak complication... I met with another said he only has one leak in 3200 procedure due to a staple malfunction... The first guy had no clue why the staple leaked... The surgeon is the key to a smooth procedure... Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
