6 or 7 months medically supervised diet?!

I heard the weight at your consultation with the surgeon is the start... Who knows, this is a money making racket for doctors... Each time they weight you they charge your insurance. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  5. I'm having my first consultation next week, this is the third doctor I'm meeting with. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

  7. @@OutsideMatchInside Agreed! Skin cancer patiences aren't asked to prove they used sunscreen or sign something stated they will use sunscreen and stay out of the sun. Obesity is about the only thing has not been effected by political correctness, it still okay to have bias about obese people. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

  9. It might move faster if you have some kind of documentation to show you already participated in 6 months of non surgical weight management... I'm hoping that how it will work for me as Summer would be the best time for me to have the surgery as well. This waiting etc.. Is so annoying, what other disease could you have that puts you through all this? I know they say because they want to see your committed to the new lifestyle etc.. Are they will going to know that in 6 months? Doubt it!! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  10. This is an interesting requirement, the logic behind this is.... Just curious why the surgeon said you need this... Having a consult with a third doctor next week, curious if he will require this Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

  12. I think people ask questions on here just to get a variety of feed back. For the short period of time I've been on here it seems most questions wind up turning into arguments between people. If some is doing something and it's work for them, excellent. Most people are working with a surgeon/NUT and are adults who can chose to follow that advice or not. Don't think anyone comes on here to be reprimanded. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  13. At my seminar, the surgeon also discouraged the band. He said one of them are being taken off the market. At the time of the seminar, 2 weeks ago he said he is taking bands out and revising them to the sleeve. As far as the blood thinner, I think you would have to stop them before any surgical procedure. 14. Don't let fear of being in the bathing suit stop you. I go to a YMCA, you can wear your towel right up to the second you enter the pool, once your in the pool and doing the class most are so into what their doing they won't notice you. They also have a steam room and Sauna, I use after the class which is great for the skin and joints etc...

    They seemed sane...Dating horror stories

I can only speak from my experience that I've had from meeting men online. I take each experience as a learning experience, I do get frustrated and take a break. Right now I'm focused on being a better me with hopefully the help of WLS. You sound like you come from a place of honesty, when that's in play dating is as it should be. They seemed sane...Dating horror stories

I'm still pre surgery, sad to say online dating and texting have ruined dating. Everyone is so fabulous and perfect behind the screen, too bad when they get out from behind the screen they aren't anything they have wrote in their profile. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  17. I love aqua aerobics, in the past when I do it on a regular basis I have lost weight. It's one hour of cardio with weight and the added weight of the Water. Low impact on joints etc. I think he's missing an important point, any exercise is better than no exercise. He may have said that's a great starting point and good to do something you enjoy, try adding a five minute walk each day and build it up from there. I'm not sure how he expects you to take up running at that intensity until you drop some weight and even than it would be a little at a time. As they say Rome wasn't built in a day and the weight isn't going to come off in a day nor is anyone going to become a runner in a day. Tune him out he's an idiot. I actually feel his advice would lead to unhealthy outcomes. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Can't believe this

I would think if your not comfortable with the new doctor you would have an option to change. Unfortunately I've learned the hard way, you can't depend on others to get information correct. Best to get it from the horse's mouth, please call you insurance so you can be an informed patient. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  19. Agreed! The meds were my last hope, now I feel ready to get WLS. Good luck Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  20. I took victoza along with Metformin and spiro 25mg for almost 10 months along with low carbing and excercise, worked well. I found the victoza changed my taste buds, all three together made me very thirsty which was good for Water intake. I thought I would have a problem injecting myself, the needles were thin and didn't really hurt. The black box warning on victoza made me uneasy about using it for long term. I did succeed taking weight off but as soon as I stopped the meds it came back. Now I've decided it time for WLS. I'm prediabetic with pcos, none of these drugs did much for the A1C, one set of labs had it going up which the doctor was surprised by. I did take it faithfully and as prescribed. Can't believe this

Call your insurance and get a copy of your policy so you know what it states for surgery. Ask the office of the Doctor that quit if the doctor left contact info., if so reach out and ask for whatever it is you need. It's frustrating but it maybe a sign that you weren't in the hands of the right doctor. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Switching surgeons

I suggest call your insurance and ask them. Get your case number from the insurance so you will have that for the next office. If they say ok, call the new doctor your considering to see what they say. The approval is usually for the procedure not the specific doctor and it usually last for a certain amount of time. Cool Sculpting - yay? nay?

If I recall it was over $1000 for 2 sessions, I got two more free because they used me to teach some of the staff how to use cool sculpting. That was a total of 4 treatment and didn't see any measurable results. I tend to think it made me more flabby, your skin is basically being vacuumed with freezing cold for an hour. It's similar to the way the do the mammography with freezing added. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Cool Sculpting - yay? nay?

I had cool sculpting about 2 years ago, I was not at my ideal body weight by any means. I was told I would still sees difference. Personally other than freezing my belly for an hour and leaving bruises that last more than a week I didn't find any difference fat wise. Didn't seems to get rid of inches either. Like everything else might be best to give it a try yourself, your results maybe better. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
