    Any teachers here?

I haven't had the bypass but have taught kinder, just thinking of how interactive it is... Sitting in the little chairs or the floor, bending to tie shoes etc... They are the cutest but it is physical demanding... Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

I'm sort of thinking if you don't do Summer, Christmas break might be the next most logical thing... Sorry I know that's seven months away... Maybe they could fudge some visits to help you with the time table... Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

6 or 7 months medically supervised diet?!

On May 25th, I'm meeting with the nut, psychologist and surgeon. My endocrinologist has faxed a letter over, which I hope will cover the 6 months things... In my mind I'm hoping it could be submitted the same day or with a few days of my appointment... I'm a teacher and ideally having the surgery over the Summer would be perfect.. This is the game plan but as they say you plan and God laughs so let's see how it turns out... By this time next week I'll know more. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

6 or 7 months medically supervised diet?!

Right, I guess I see every other group having a voice in the media etc... Even transgender people who comprise less than 1% of the population are being accommodated with the bathroom if they self identify... I have self identified I have a problem with weight and every doctor who has treated me identifies it too... Yet I'm left wondering if I'll be approved or denied treatment. Steady weight

@@hova1980 I'm wondering if you have an in person support system surrounding you? Maybe you could ask them to help you with meal planning in an effort to get your nutrition headed in the right direction. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

6 or 7 months medically supervised diet?!

This is so insane we have to go through this will I or will I not get approved to have my disease treated. There should be some kind of action we could take to bring attention to what's being done to us. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  13. I too am pre-surgery. Let the shopping begin!! Celebrate your hard work that has got you to the point of saying good-bye to the old clothes. I can relate to the yo-yo dieting. Every time I look in my closet and see all the sizes it's a reminder of all the failed diets. Now your closet will be filled with clothes that remind you of your success Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Just starting out

Many of the bariatric surgeon websites have lots of informational videos. I had to attend a seminar before the office would schedule me for an appointment with the surgeon. I'm first meeting him on the 25th. I feel my only question is how fast can you get me to the OR? The seminar lasted 2 hours and covered most of my questions. They also provided an excellent information packet. I had met with two surgeons prior to him and learned zero from meeting with them. You may want to ask what their complication rate is? How to tell when to upgrade exercise?

I'm still pre-surgery, I worked with a few personal trainers in my many attempts to battle weight... I would say the fact your asking this means your ready.. Increase things in small increments... Congrats on your success. If there's something you want to try, go for it! Let the instructor know your a newbie. Often when people start new exercise they can't get through the entire class so they may step out at a point when they feel they have had enough. You make your own goals and tune everyone else out Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

I would suggest Old Navy, if you keep a check online, there is usually a good percentage off on Monday or Tuesday... Later in the week there is a percentage off but usually not as high. Not getting a clear answer

This journey of getting approved is more complex than I could have imagined. When I began thinking about this I never consider the first step should have been to look at my insurance policy. I just figured if they covered it, it would be handled like they do with any other health issues. I wonder if the surgeon spaces out these "approval" based on their schedule. I know the one I'm using said he is booked for two months. I love Mexico but am too chicken to have my surgery there. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

My guess is if the surgeon says you don't or do need something, the insurance has to go with it. The surgeon is suppose to be the medical expert Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
