Where is this surgeon? Seems like he's wonderful!!! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Just curious you say he is already insecure and you haven't even had surgery... What's causing him to be insecure now?... Sounds like this is something going on with him and maybe the way he views/interacts with life. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

@@charley27, that's all the insurance requires... No surgeon is going to give you surgery without running some testing such as blood work, ekg etc... These test are for your safety. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

I had wrote this exact post earlier with a different title, sorry all if that considered a double post... I was binge watching the show this morning. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Take a deep breathe, relax... Getting this surgery is a process, you need all the patience you have to get from the start to the surgery... There is also pre surgical testing, not sure if that's patient specific or everyone does all the same test but that will slow the process down too... It's going to happen, just might not be on your anticipated time table... Good luck Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

How long was your process?

No the test after surgery is to check for leaks... I think the pre surgery swallow test is an endoscopy to check if you have reflux and maybe other things. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -

I think going to the deli or deli counter would get you better quality meat, like they often have store cooked turkey... Buy a cooked chicken and cut it up with cheese. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
Bummed Out After Watching "My 600 Lb Life: Where Are They Now?"
Read2016 replied to Proud2BMe's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
@proud2bme... I was binge watching 600 lb life on demand this morning... Since I've decided to have WLS and am concerned about long term success, I picked up on stuff today I had never notice about the people on the show before. Every person on the show had someone who enabled their behavior, none of them worked or had any adult responsibility... Given they didn't work, all they had to focus on was loosing weight they should be super successful... I feel like the surgery was the first thing in their life they were be held accountable for, the pressure of accountability was too much for them...As others have said these are extreme cases... I was getting annoyed thinking how my tax money is being used for these people to sit around... The fact your thinking about long term success has you headed in the right direction. 6 month Insurance Requirement ( weight requirements )
Read2016 replied to hazelzay's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
All this will I be approve or won't I be approved just adds a whole layer of nonsense to getting treatment... He only mentioned the pre surgery weight loss in my brief interaction with him at the seminar he conducted... Will be having my consultation this Wednesday. I'm sure like me your probably an expert at loosing weight, it's keeping it off that's the problem. Every time I lose weight it must send out a search team because it quickly finds me again lol... Yes I'm right at the BMI border line, I tore my calf muscle about a week ago so that has made walking painful so not being active will keep my bmi at 40. My insurance is BCBS in NY, says same thing as yours regarding the 6th months... I have some documentation I think meets that requirement but I'll know more after may 25th... I agree about the surgeon having their own requirement, if you went to a seminar the literature they provide has detailed information about the surgeon's requirements. Frustrated with surgeon's office....
Read2016 replied to AnaLaura85's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I feel it's the doctor's responsibility to know how their staff works... The first two surgeons I had consultations with I decided not to go with due to the interaction with the office staff... This is a pet peeve of mine, to me if your a doctor your office staff is the face of the practice and sets the tone with the patients.. You should want them to be as top notch as you are, if you care about your patiences. I would just say I'm not sure why your giving me the run around but after you claimed you submitted the documents , my insurance company has no record of it. I don't appreciate being treated this way as a patient as I need my focus to be on preparing for my procedure and not micromanaging my paperwork for insurance. Please send me an email when you have submitted these documents as I want it in writing because your spoken words seem meaningless. That might be harsh but I very direct and when I'm pushed too far I just call people out on their nonsense. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -

My friend and I had surgery the same day but...
Read2016 replied to FabFemale's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
@Fabfemale... Hate to see you so stressed when your probably trying to focus on your own journey and success.... I've learned overtime, all you can do is share information with people and leave them to make their own decisions. She may have to learn the hard way, from reading on here it seems some who have had the surgery are still under the misconception they won't have to actively work at loosing weight, like WLS is going to be a magic wand. I feel as time goes on and she sees you loosing weight, she will wise up... At that point she will be all ears for your advice. Stay strong and focused on you???? This morning I was watching My 600lb life and DR. N said to Pauline after 5 years the effects of the surgery wears away. Pauline had gastric bypass so I'm not sure if this would be specific to only that WLS or was he just giving her a wake up call or if it's a fact. Anyone have any insight on this? Here's an example how we all see things different.,. I feel him getting into that on the first date means he may not be that recovered... Wasn't really first date conversation to me... 1st should be putting your positives forward, give someone a chance to like you before you hit them with all your baggage.... Like maybe get into that on the third date... Some might say I'm encouraging people to lie, no way!!! Either way the poster isn't moving forward with that. mild sleep apnea - I'm pissed

I think it's an issue because it considered a cormodity. I would think being diagnosed with it, increases your chances of approval... It's a money driven diagnosis. I think I heard a radio commercial that mentioned something about it being under diagnosed.... If obesity was treated like any other disease as it should be, it would not opened the flood gates for obese people spending so much out of pocket whether it's this machine or all we have spend on ineffective products for weight loss. Good luck on your journey. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -

I did not use the word liar, looks like you called yourself out... This is an open forum, if your going to post here than you invite all members to respond... Your tone towards Babbs is less than acceptable... Funny how people react so negatively when what they say is called into question. People who speak the truth don't get defensive.
