Seriously, how do you get all of your protein in?!
Read2016 replied to mlgok's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My plan discourages shakes after week three as well... While it might make it harder, I think it forces you to interact with food again and train yourself how to eat... "We can't solve problems by using the same kind of thinking we used when we created them" Einstein -
Ball is Rolling....
Read2016 replied to finding_onederland's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
@finding_onederland... I'm getting closer, the doctors other than the surgeon are filling their paperwork out and getting ready to submit... The insurance coordinator said maybe July 18th... Once I am official approved it will all become more real. I was fortunate that the surgeon has very on the ball office staff, when I called to make the appointment to see him I said I'm taking the day off, the person on the phone said lets make the most of it... I saw the nut, psych, surgeon, insurance coordinator and got lab work done all in the same day. When are you expecting to have surgery? Your insurance may mention something about a multidisciplinary approach through a bariatric program for weight loss, in that case mine said it only had to be three months... "We can't solve problems by using the same kind of thinking we used when we created them" Einstein

Insurance and Surgeons Office aren't on the same page!
Read2016 replied to mrz.mott's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I went to 2 surgeon but I decided to have my surgery with the third... Why? I had 10 months of supervised weight management with an endocrinologist, neither of the first two wanted to hear anything about that. The third surgeon was like if you have the weight management done, we'll fax over the paper to the doc and we can submit for approval.. I was like thank you, your the first doctor listening to me... In so many words he said the other two were just being greedy milking the insurance for office visits because they can... At that moment I knew why I loved this surgeon... He said lets get the paperwork rolling so you can get approved and get sleeved.. All this insurance nonsense is opening the door for greedy people to make extra money.. Some may say it's not all that much extra on one patient but if you think of all the patients they have it adds up... Really their not giving any medical care during the 6 month supervised diet, you don't need to be an MD to weight someone... The place I'm using is a center of excellence and it shows every step of the way... Good luck to you! I only lose about 1 pound a week
Read2016 replied to fling0228's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
3 months equals 12 weeks... 50 pounds in 3 months averages about 4lbs a month... Think I got my math right? Most healthy weight loss plans suggest between 1-2 lbs a week. If your starting weight was lower you maybe be loosing slower. "We can't solve problems by using the same kind of thinking we used when we created them" Einstein -
My surgeon, primary care doctor and anything else I have seen says toning up will lessen loose skin... A weight training program builds muscle... Might still have loose skin but you will look more toned. "We can't solve problems by using the same kind of thinking we used when we created them" Einstein

Part of her weight is due to PCOS... I would think she would Celebrate larger size people if she had an actually full time job and some direction in life... Instead I think she just reinforces negative stereotypes about obese people...She's been enabled by the parents... Maybe she meant 30grams in one meal? I've seen post on here that say the body can only absorbs 30 grams of Protein at a time...I guess being a teacher I'm more conscious of communication, when people are giving direction they should be crystal clear... I think you should have confidence in the fact the surgeon would not take you on as a patient if she/he thinks you will be denied, lots of time and resources would be wasted on his end... Do you have an appalling experience of dealing with a weight-biased healthcare professional?
Read2016 replied to Alex Brecher's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I think some bias we would be aware as the doctor does nothing to hide it... Other times the doctor maybe thinking it but not state it explicitly.. Several years back I was diagnosed with kidney stones that were not causing symptoms they were an incidental finding... Upon informing me of this my pcp gave my a lecture about how the stones were caused by my poor eating habits... Wasn't she surprised when the 24 hours urine test showed I had hypercalcemia of the kidney, nothing to do with eating habits... I went to see an allergist after having am allergy attack and all he could do was discuss my being obesity.. No doubt about it if your obese your getting bias treatment.
