My nut suggested making mint infused Water to help with nausea... You could infuse water with almost anything you think would add a flavor...half orange juice/ half water is very specific there must have been a reason for that direction....add some cinnamon to the Protein shake it's good for blood sugars and changes the taste, you could add it in or sprinkle it on top... Toothpaste put on overnight works wonders on pimples/acne... Being in the 40's I had a bad bout of hormonal acne, toothpaste worked better than all the various prescription cream the dermatologist gave me... Good luck Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Alcohol would be very drying so don't think that a good idea... In the past I have heard of putting antibiotic ointment... I think this may also depend on how far post op are you... Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -

I was wondering about coffee too, yet seem tea is very acceptable... Im wondering if part of the no coffee is due to fear people will drink their calories... Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -

@innersurfergirl.... Agree about the primary goal.... Medicine isn't an exact science, correct... I just see it all we all have healing stomachs so the protocol so such a wide range of advice, some do a 2liquid diet others don't etc... Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
Cottage cheese, yogurt going down too easy?
Read2016 replied to jackbh's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I pre-op but have had my NUT appointment for the post op eating the other day... I'll be on full liquids on day 3 after surgery adding yogurt and such on the 5th day after... I wish someone could explain why there are so so many different approaches to post op nutrition when we all have had the same surgery... There does not seem to be any standardized protocols other than Protein and fluids...Im noticing in post on here some will say their nut said something and others get outraged or assume the poster must have got their direction wrong.. When in reality it just seems each nut gives different advice...ultimate we have to follow the nut working with our surgeon... Like my nut said down the road you if you choose to have bread it must be toasted to avoid it getting stuck, have not seen anything on here about that... I was also told to take B12 once a week forever, don't see anyone mention that... I'm wondering do I have a great nut or not so great, she seemed on her game. This was the exact day I had this past Wednesday along with some lab work, was happy to get so much done since I had taken the day off... Was just on information overload at the end of the day. Good luck Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
Sulfate free shampoo are very gentle to the hair.... Highlights could help depending on their placement and how light you go compared to your based color... I've already been speaking to my stylist about this, she said I may have to cut my hair to a longer bob... Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Or they might spend a good chunk of time on the phone with their son discussing what to with leftover food, no this wasn't a staged phone call. I was rather surprised at how unprofessional this was. Hope it all goes well. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
Family totally against my surgery
Read2016 replied to GinaCampbell's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Sounds like she is scared... Maybe suggest she learns more about it from watching some you tube videos... Clearly the health benefits outweigh loose skin... Anyone who would retaliate against your choice by taking your grandchildren from you is wrong, using children as a weapon is wrong and hurtful... Could it be she is selfish and worried you will need more care if you have any surgical complications? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
Anyone starting weight at 200 lbs? Help :)
Read2016 replied to asolanom's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
I feel your saying your looking for a quick fix... I can relate to much of your story, I've always struggled with the weight and for the most part it's been a tug of war, I win, the weight wins keep repeating... It feels like an endless cycle, since I hit the 40's the weight has been winning, I'm now at the heaviest I've ever been... Several things happened that made me decide surgery was for me, number one reason was as the weight goes up, I feel my mobility is going down... This is a lifestyle change, not a magic wand. In reading this thread I just noticed this, if you notice the screen name is one thing and it was edited from bye hoes... This is the thing about online I hate it allows shady people to do as they like Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App Sorry forgot to add the picture. Should i exercise
Read2016 replied to Chaelove0810's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
@chaelove0810... Getting hurt from exercise tells you the type of exercise your doing isn't for you right now... I was told you could go to the gym the day you come home (probably not realistic) but you had to be mindful of not doing things that would strain you new stomach as it was still healing... Your head is in the right place with focusing on exercise, your body just might need so time to be ready... until your healed fully, probably best to focus on cardio... If she was such an expert on weight loss I don't think she would be bigger as you describe her...She overstepped her boundaries and should have been put in her place. I think it's very appropriate for you to say, you said this to me I would like to let you know you don't know my history with struggling with weight, I'm not going to share it now either. I made a choice that was right for me and your comments/judgements were not appreciate. She should be apologizing, don't hold your breathe for that. We often don't call people out on their comments instead we look for reasons to understand why they said it. There's no excuse for being nasty. She asked to speak to you privately wasn't like she just blurted it out so it was something she gave thought to. Stay strong and keep focused on your goals Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

@gsleeve822... At two months out from surgery your diet should be more varied... shakes shouldn't be the main source of Protein... Are you having food sources of protein such as ground turkey, tuna, cheese, yogurt, etc?... 2 months of shakes all day everyday would turn anybody off eating... I was told around 3 weeks after surgery, to be moving away from shakes and get protein from real food... Good luck Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Diet plan that I was given is f'd up
Read2016 replied to Autumn Riley Arnold's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
@autumnrileyarnold.... Did you ask why they suggested a banana? 14g of sugar from fruit is considered natural sugar as opposed to 14g of sugar from a cookie.. I would be more concerned it has zero Protein... Having it mushed into oatmeal would add protein. Nutrition advice does not seem to be standardized, that's what I'm learning from reading on this forum... Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
@barbierocker77.... Your body and mind have been through a lot.... Maybe check with an endocrinologist to be sure all your hormones etc are at the right levels... Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
