  1. The kids were complaint so we googled and that one was a natural way to deter mosquitos... Haven't got any fed back from the kids if they tried it yet... We're just starting to mosquitos season here in NY... They have been doing lots of aerial spraying as there is a fear of Zika virus being spread so maybe that will cut back on them... Keep me posted if it works... Happy dog walking, my dog loves walking too Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  2. @jobey... I'm pre-op and single...on a dating break at the moment... Most likely your going to be with someone who has a scar or a birthmark etc... Dating should be fun... I'm think seeing scars is better than looking at rolls of fat... I'm sure as our weight goes down, our confident will go up and we won't even give the scars a second thought. 3. My surgeon does not require pre-op diet, only liquids they day before... He said the liquid diet weakens you and he wants people strong for surgery as well the fact that for the first week after surgery many struggle to get in food. My surgeon is a bariatric center of excellence, I going to assume that means their follow the most current research. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Food

I think there's hormones, I also think surgery brings big changes so it would be normal to have reactions.. New mothers have bouts of depressions etc... Changes overwhelm most of us for a bit, we don't like moving from the familiar-eating what we want when we want into the unfamiliar - eating certain things at certain intervals... Combine that with there's a fear early on of wanting to be successful and not knowing yet if you will be successful... While healing your still uncomfortable which leads to do things differently they you may have done them before... Once we move past all that, we get to the part where the progress starts to show and that will be makes us smile. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Depression has returned and struggling with grief

My heart goes out to you as well... It's hard to watch someone you love being so sick at the hospital... I'm a doer in a crisis, so when my dad was sick he was often sedated and not sure if he never I was there but in my heart I believe he did know.... Often while I was there talking with the doctors was the most important thing I was doing... One doctor says why not bring he some music he likes, I downloaded some music he would like and would play it very low... People in the hospital often get dry skin, I would often spend the visit just massage his legs and arms with lotion, the doctor often joke he had the most moist skin of anyone in the ICU... As for pain, a person in the hospital should not be suffering with pain, there's so many things they can do.... Prayers are with you Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Food

I'm going to agree to disagree.... This surgery is an opportunity to retrain the stomach and introduce healthy food back... It's about making lifelong changes that can be sustained, sorry but two Protein shakes and a yogurt aren't going to be a way to eat for the rest of your life nor would it be healthy... 500 -600 calories a day is not much at all... 1000-1200 seems more in a healthy zone... I congratulate you on your weight loss... Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    What to eat

@jaxamon.... My concern with post like this is, medical advice should only by given by medical professional.... Post op food equates to medicine, getting is right or wrong will impact healing....from reading on here, I don't think there seems to be one standard way of eating post op, everyone seems to move to different post op stages of eating at different times... Why there is so much variety no one seems clear on.. I agree this forum is a great place for support and information... As they say it's not what you say but how you say it that counts, that's probably a good rule of thumb for comments written on the forum... Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Family totally against my surgery

Will the surgery help you eliminate you being bed bound? If so, wouldn't she want to support anything in the world that would stop you from being bed ridden...I'm thinking if you weight comes off, you can have therapy to build your strength and hopefully gain mobility... I would think being bed bound also leads to overeating... I can only see good things ahead for you, we all deserve a chance to live life to the fullest. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
