    Family totally against my surgery

@ginacampbell... Your going to do great tomorrow... If being at the hospital alone concern you, why not inquire about hiring an aide to stay with you... Not sure what is the exact term, I think each hospital call them something different... I've heard it called companion, you usually pay out of pocket for it... I think it would be a great help to know you have someone right there for one on one assistance... Maybe give the hospital a call today to inquire about the cost... Good luck Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    I'm torn..

@debraalbert... How can you have surgery without pre surgical testing? Might be good to ask the surgeon his reasons behind this unless you meant you have not had it as of yet but will closer to surgery? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Sugar Cravings

I'm sorry I didn't mean it in a discouraging way but from reading these forums and comparing it to the direction I'll be following there's just way too much variety... I know the struggle is real Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Sugar Cravings

@sean72977... No one here should answer that because each surgeon has different and specific directions... I have a packet for post-op eating to follow, did you get one? If,so it details all the eating step by step... Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Sugar Cravings

@beautyifullu2114... Maybe try some flavored yogurt, many of them have tons of sugar so may take some reading of labels to find one that works... While sugary yogurt isn't ideal, probably better than a cookie... Cookies are a trigger food for me, no way could I ever just have one... Maybe have plain Greek yogurt and add your own fruit or cinnamon or a little vanilla extract ( check the label on that one first)... There something from trader's Joe agave syrup, it's sweet, I don't know the nutritional info. Try to look for natural sweet things rather than artificial processed foods... 11. I'm not sure why there's so much negativity about checking the scale often... I'm pre-op but I know every time I'm trying to lose weight I check the scale... As pre-op I don't expect to see daily changes, anytime I step on and it goes down it motivates me to keep up the good work... If it goes up often as it often does it tell me I need to try harder.I do understand the weight loss process after surgery is somewhat different . Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    9 DAYS. Freaking out!

@madisunshine1... My surgeon says he doesn't do the liquid diet so you will be stronger for the surgery combined with the fact the first days post op eating might not be that easy.... I'm am emotional eater to, I've been thinking how am I going to handle that in the days before surgery, I'll try to keep junk food out of the house... Thankfully I'll be going through all this in Summer, so the beach can help distract me...if others can make it through 2 weeks of liquids than I'm confident you will make it through with flying colors.. Easy Way Out.....ha!

We live in a beauty focused society, the real reasons for obesity are never going to go main stream... Can you imagine how many companies would go out of business if people were educated about obesity?... It's in the best interest of the dieting industry to convince people their obesity is their own fault, if you drink our shake or take our pill that will all change... We all know when they don't work we go chasing and spending money on the next new fad that is going to work... I feel this is why society is never going to become educated about this. Pay day - buying staples

I'm thinking maybe some fresh mint cumcumber to infuse into Water in case you don't like the taste of plain water....not sure what your post op direction are. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  17. So many band problems, long ago I looked into but they said I was not a candidate... I was so disappointed at the time... Now that I'm seeing all these band problems, I'm glad that didn't work out... I'm new to WLS but no stranger to high Protein low carb... This is the most obese I've ever been, I feel disgusting... I don't know how the very obese people even function, I give them lots of respect... Getting around with extra weight ain't easy... Hopefully I'll be getting sleeved in July, just waiting for the doctor to send some paperwork to insurance and than it will be submitted... Took meeting a few surgeon's before I found a good one... This certainly is a process Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    I'm torn..

@hernewselfie... I think the pre surgical test they do either endoscopy or upper gi series will shed some light on if one procedure is better than the other for you... Otherwise I think it's between you and the doctor. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  19. @aussiedgirl81 thanks for sharing that... I cringe every time I think of the actually surgery with them cutting, stapling and remove the stomach... He did mention the removed stomach would be sent to pathology, curious what kind of information they find out from that... How's your journey going? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  20. @kindle... Bad choices are about 60% of my problem... I'm insulin resistance too so that makes loosing weight very hard... The only weight loss success I've had in 5 years was from taking meds but when the meds stopped, the weight found me again... Weight must have GPS because it always finds it way back to me lol Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  21. @aussiegirl81... He hasn't mention this... All he said was I could lose 100lbs, that had me speechless... Thanks Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  22. @ausiegirl81 how would we know about the bougie size? Are you pre-op or post-op? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  23. Your question is one I can't find an answer to... Basically we all had the same surgery so the post op eating should be similiar instead it's world's apart.... I feel you have to follow your surgeon's directions because if something goes wrong while your doing what he/she said they will have to take responsibility for it.... I would imagine some of this variety in direction is related to the experience of the surgeon... A surgeon doing mostly WLS surgery is going to have more patient feed back about what works and what does not... I do realize many dismiss the variety of direction as medicine not be an exact science but feel the exact same surgery should result in similar post op eating guidelines. Just to add, I have family in Ireland so I know how different the medical system there is, In your case your directions being different would make sense. I saw a show last night about the fattest man, he was from the UK. They put him on a milk diet.. It worked he lost weight but to the best of my knowledge that's not a popular diet approach in the US. 24. @missmac... I don't feel I'm lying, I would just be omitting an important detail til a later time... I live in a apt building with many gossipers... The less the know about how I'm dropping weight the better. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  25. @christinamo7.... I'm somewhat new to this forum... I do find it interesting seeing all the variety... Finding out no every doctor had the 2 week liquid diet helped me big time, now I found a doctor that doesn't make you have a two week diet as long with that he is also at a center of excellence and a BSBC center of distinction... All things I learned about on here. We should all agree to disagree with any poster at any time... The going back and forth is unproductive. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
