If you going to an ER at a hospital, there's someone somewhere in that hospital who can advise on your treatment...WLS is getting more common... I read somewhere the sleeve only becomes a problem if you need a tube place, the tube could possibly do damage... If the tube will make the difference between life and death, I'll pick the tube. Tested for horomones? I don't think there needs to be a wait period... If you feel something is off get tested, test can always be repeated in another few months. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -

Any chance you have a doctor who has treated you for obesity? If so, maybe they could speed it up a bit by writing something... Just a thought Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
I had mine last Wednesday... She asked if I was a binge eater, meaning did I ever consume 5000 calories in one time... Was I prepared for changing my eating habits? Mine visit was very relaxed and low key... Was much simpler than I had thought it would be.. Good luck Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Anyone Struggle Today?

I read your post and thought this lady is a smart cookie. I think you should Celebrate that you know you made bad food choices today and know tomorrow the food choices will be better. As an obese person when I think back on my eating I think how I would make bad food choices one day after the another until it was so out of control it was difficult pulling it back together... Hey, Young Adult Who Needs Advice

I suggest you do research to find a bariatric center of excellence.... Research research research, be sure to make an informed decision when you select a surgeon... I'm pre-op my process is moving a bit faster because I had done the medically supervised diet prior to taking the next step of having surgery... Good luck and you have found a great resource for info. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
It's good to know so many have survived drinking from a straw lol Thanks for sharing your experiences Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

@@AvaFern I like your thinking... All I keep thinking is how can I ever get a Protein shake down minus a straw... I'm not stranger to drinking them but never without a straw... Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

The dunes and the beach were one of my deciding factors in moving forward with surgery... I'm at my highest weight ever and while it may seem low to many here it's hindering my mobility.... On my recent trip to Mexico it was difficult for me to get out of the beach chair and walking from the beach chair to the Water was exhausting... Any doubts about surgery were erased by the reality of the weight gets any worse going to the beach would no longer be an option... I love the beach, to me it's the best place on Earth... The Jersey shore is beautiful, sending you good vibes that next Summer your toes will be in the water! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

I understood the no straws was because they fill your stomach with air which leaves less room for Protein and liquids... I plan to give using a straw a try after my the critical healing point. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Had knee replacement before gastric bypass
Read2016 replied to jj031's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Having had watched my mom recover from knee replacement my thought is having the bypass first would make more sense... There is lots of rigorous exercise to fully recover from knee replacement... Some of it will be impatient and most of it will be outpatient... Thinking that would all be easier to do weighing less. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -

My point of disagreement was with people praising the post since I felt it was sad such a post needed to be out there... I'm rather new here and still pre-op, I may have taken your post the wrong way.. I don't feel you should have directly specifically at new people as that suggest we lack knowledge of how to behave online... Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -

Does anyone's goal weight still leave them "overweight" or "obese"?
Read2016 replied to provenzee's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think it hard to say this weight on the same height person will look like this on me... Building up muscle tone can make anyone look more lean...Everyone carries weight differently... My surgeon didn't get to deep into this, he said I could lose a 100lbs which means I would be 130... He said when I reach that I may not be happy with how I look as in I May look too thin... I was just laughing, I said I guess I'll have a chance to use a new word, thin! For me personally my biggest goal is to just get to a stable weight... I can take the weight going up and down anymore... I'm so tired of having every size of clothes in the closet... Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -

Please forgive me for disagreeing, I find it sad that a post needs to be written to remind adults of how to conduct themselves... The same manners you have offline should be brought to online... If you interact poorly with people in the real world, your not going to do any better in the cyber world... I do respect the time it took you to write that detailed post..
