Ok This 2 shake and 1-meal a day crap is really hard...
LaMonica replied to mstrina27's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Ms. Trina I TOTALLY understand what you are experiencing as far as negative and insensitive comments from other people. I start my 2 week pre-op tomorrow and I am excited and nervous at the same time. Funny thing is this week my appetite has gone down tremendously, and I thought I would want to stuff my face all week but for some reason I haven't been able to...we shall see how this weekend goes. Friday (1st day pre-op diet) volunteer event with catered lunch...Saturday a baby shower...Sunday mother's day...I know this will be the toughest 3 days I've had in a long time but going through this site I know if they can do it, we can too! Hang in there! -
Hi Anne!! I'm new as a poster, but I've been reading on here for a while. I'm getting banded on May 23rd and am also nervous but excited at the same time. I have found that this site is full of caring and encouraging people which make my countdown much more enjoyable!! I sometimes think I will miss the food too, but I am looking more toward enjoying healthier food, and my banging new body and attitude!! :-)

Looking at all of the posts from the May week 1 bandsters is getting me more excited each day! My Hubby (who is not particularly in favor of the surgery) is becoming more supportive and is volunteering to cook spaghetti and take me out to dinner before the liquid diet starts....

Hi guys...I am so happy (and nervous) to finally have a surgery date!!!!! - MAY 23, 2008!!! My name is LaMonica, I'm 24, and live in McKinney, TX which is just north of Dallas. I currently weigh about 277 and am 5'6"....I believe I am absolutely gorgeous, and have a nice shape, it's just a lot on the maximize side and I need to minimize greatly! :-) I have always been the "bigger kid" since I was in school, but I always had a "cute face". Well after high school my weight just kept ballooning up and up and up until 1 day I looked at pictures of myself and was like 'IS THIS WHAT I REALLY LOOK LIKE???'. I was disgusted...It's like what I see in the mirror isn't what everyone else sees. I think I was in denial about my size. I've been contemplating lap band surgery for 2 years now....hoping that my insurance would cover it but it doesn't. But, my mom just retired and got a lump sum of money up front, and she is paying for my surgery. I feel so blessed!!! I am very nervous and excited, but I know I will get support from you all! Nice to meet you all....hope we can help each other along the way! P.S. - how do I make one of those cute May Flowers banners? :-)

Thanks for the info Luna...

Diagnostics Appointment
LaMonica replied to readytolive's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks for this post! Unfortunately I am in the same boat you are in, I have a vague understanding, but nothing specific. I am having my diagnostic appointment on Friday and would like to know what all this entails. And more importantly, do they do bloodwork? -
For those with BMI 35-40?
LaMonica replied to ronwifey's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I love this thread! Although my BMI is about 41 - 43 (haven't checked in a while) I am often told that I am so beautiful and I'm not that big. My husband goes back and forth between supporting me, and telling me I should just eat better and work out every day. But he's 6'3" and like 210 lbs muscular.....you can't see any fat on his body except his cheeks!!! My mom had Gastric about 6 years ago and that was great for her, but I don't want that major of a surgery. I am scared, but exploring the possibility b/c I think it will make such a big impact in my life and my confidence and my ability to buy clothes from ANY store! I am almost 5'7", I weigh 275 (from this morning) and I wear a size 20/22. When I was a freshman in college in 2001 I weighed about 195 and wore a size 14/16. I can't even wear button down shirts b/c my arms are so fat it cuts the circulation to my hands. I am beautiful, but I'm not healthy. I hope my hubby stays on the supportive track b/c either my new insurance will cover it, or my mom will pay for it. But I don't want him mad at me.. Thank you all for being so open and honest! -
Here to help make a decision...
LaMonica replied to Miss Michelle's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Well good morning to you! I am also new here, trying to figure out what my best option is, if surgery is for me. I think hearing down to earth real stories from people who have gone through this is one of the best places to start with research. I'm 24 in Texas and just trying to figure out the best route to take. I hope you find some of the answers you are looking for!
