Surgery tomorrow and I'm terrified
Zoes.Realm replied to mmy's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Yes, your emotions are going to start to get to you a bit today. This is a big new adventure in your life. I am sure you will come out unscathed. This is something that we all have fought very hard to get and I am sure like me, at the last moment you are second guess yourself. Try to just stay as calm and relaxed as you can. Good luck and keep us updated on your journey Sent from my SM-G925P using the BariatricPal App -
For me, I crave to get back to the energy and excitement I had for the next activity. I lost a bunch of weight at 18 and was my ideal weight for a number of years. After a hysterical at 23 I ballooned. I know what the thinner me is and what I love to do and wear. I have just struggled to get back to her. I've had a picture of 21 y/o - 165 lb me in my phone for months now. Telling everyone this is the weight I will be again lol Sent from my SM-G925P using the BariatricPal App

I can't imaging going through 2 denials and an appeal. It's such a roller coaster. I really thought my surgery would be in March and now here I am still working at getting approved. I'm not going to give up on it. I figure this gives me time to start losing some of my weight so I'm ahead of the game.I know how that is, I thought my surgery was going to be last August but it did not happen until March 16th. It gave me even more time to make sure this is what I wanted. There is always a reason for everything that happens. You will get your approval when you least except it and it will be when it's the best possible time. Keep me updated. Sent from my SM-G925P using the BariatricPal App

I am so sorry that you are having so much trouble with this process. I went through a smaller version of the struggle. It took 2 denials and an appeal. Stating everything from I had not excepting the necessary lifestyle changes to i was not mentally stable. I believe that the insurance companies pick random people to push the limits with. Just an option. But you will get there, you are working very hard for what you want. Sent from my SM-G925P using the BariatricPal App

Hi all, My surgery date was 3.16.16 and it definitely a hard process that I underestimated. I never had thoughts of backing out before the surgery but know that I am just over 3 weeks out I feel regret at time. The way things feel right now, I will never be able to have a "normal" meal ever again. I think I am starting to get a but depressed. A lot to do with a single and live alone, I have been back home by myself for just over a week and its hard. Is anyone else having/had feelings or regret or depression post surgery and if so what did you do or doing? Thanks Sent from my SM-G925P using the BariatricPal App

Hello Dasha. I really appreciate the words that you shared here. This process can be quite challenging and after a while of hearing what other are going through and encouraging words, you start to feel better. Definitely some days are much better than others but things are starting to look up (now that I am just about 6 wks post op). Thanks Sent from my SM-G925P using the BariatricPal App

Scared that this is how it always will be!

I believe that the Protein situation varies from person to person. I have tried milk based and Water based protein shakes and they completely do not agree with me. I am sure I am not the only one. Sent from my SM-G925P using the BariatricPal App -

I am almost 6 weeks post op and I am going through a similar struggle. I've been told by many people things will get better. I am just waiting on the better to get here. I hope that you have an easier time than I am having. But on a side note, I am not sure how you returned to work after only 9 days. I took about 3.5 weeks and was still tired. You have to get past the total healing process. Sent from my SM-G925P using the BariatricPal App -

Pulling sensation
Zoes.Realm replied to sanjumelts's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Ruth1ess, you have to not be so hard on yourself. You are only days out from a major surgery. Yes you will be in pain, yes will have to take pain meds and you will sleep more than normal. You body is in a state of repairing itself. I completely understand wanting to be better right away and completely underestimating the process and how long it would take me to bounce back. You will feel better but it takes longer than 6 days hun. Hang tight ???????? Sent from my SM-G925P using the BariatricPal App -
Pulling sensation
Zoes.Realm replied to sanjumelts's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am about 5 weeks out and that pain was driving me nuts. I spoke with my surgeon and his NP about it. They told me that it can be either the right or the left. Each person is a bit different. My pain lasted maybe 3 or so weeks. It was so bad a one point I considered going to the er. I am glad I didn't. Sent from my SM-G925P using the BariatricPal App -
Thanks LondonHawk. Things are definitely getting a bit easier. I am heading towards my 5th week and now able to eat more than I had been able to a week or two ago. Now that I am back to work that is filing some of the void. I will be able to start going to the gym and that will take up sometime. Some of the problems I was having had to do with, I wasn't really leaving the house because I wasn't back to work and all of pain and nausea I was having surrounding food. I really appreciate everyone on here with all of the helpful words Sent from my SM-G925P using the BariatricPal App

I am almost 5 weeks post op, and I had that pain. It lasted for me about 3 or so weeks. If I had to stand I had to hold that spot with my hand with a little pressure. The pain was not as while sitting or laying but the process of sitting or getting up from sitting was rough. But things do get better. Magically it was just gone. ???????? Surgeons Goal vs Personal Goal
Zoes.Realm replied to FayBee's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I had my sleeve surgery the same day. I am 5'6" and the day of my surgery I was 252lbs. At my 2wk f/u, I had lost 20lbs. My surgeon was very excited by that. But his overall goal for me do not match the goals for myself. He said medically I should be 140 lbs and I am not sure when the last time was that I was 140. The goal they have set for me with losing 60-70% of my excess weight is 186 lbs. I am not happy with that number. My personal goal is 165lbs. I just really thing that we all have to find some sort of middle ground between what the surgeon is telling us that we should weigh and what we feel is best for us. I still plan on busting my butt to lose as much as I can. Sent from my SM-G925P using the BariatricPal App -
I am hitting 4 weeks tomorrow/today. I am have been pretty frustrated and a bit angry, a lot to do with the problems with food. I really hope that I can make it through this without being anew emotional mess for much longer. Sent from my SM-G925P using the BariatricPal App

Thank you kaitlynm for the ideas. I can't handle the taste, consistency, or how unbelievably full it makes me. I was only able to get maybe 4 ounces in, in the morning and maybe 2 ounces in, in the evening. I will look into the syntrax. And see if that works a little better. LondonHawk, Things are definitely going to different for the rest of my life and I know that I did this for all of the right reasons (for the most part) lol. I am slowly working to look at the big picture. And it is getting a little bit easier as I am able to eat a bit without feeling nauseous. The last two days have been the first days I am excited that I can get in a few ounces in. I never thought I would be excited to eat such a small amount of food. I really appreciate everyone here for listen and giving feed back! Xoxo Sent from my SM-G925P using the BariatricPal App

Hi, I am 1 month out having some problems like that. I can't do the Protein shakes. they don't agree with me and are disgusting. I can't really eat anything. I've even had to go to the infusion center to get fluids. The doctor so far isn't too concerned but I am. We will work through this. Sent from my SM-G925P using the BariatricPal App

Extremely tired 3 weeks post-op
Zoes.Realm replied to CarsonsMom's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Hi Carsonsmom, I had my sleeve surgery on 3.16.16. I am still having some problems with low energy. I really believe it is your body learning to deal with the change in the amount of food that you are taking in. Dehydration can be a part of it. I am actually sitting in an infusion center at the moment getting fluids and Vitamins due to Dehydration and the fact I am not getting much food in. I think over time we will start to feel better it will start to turn around. Sent from my SM-G925P using the BariatricPal App -
I can't do the Protein either and I have made this very clear to my dietitian that it is just not going to happen. She has me drinking 2 cups of Fairlife milk a day(that is when it is possible for me to drink it due to nausea/vomiting). That is like 26 grams of protein.
