  1. Hi everyone, I am 6 months out and still learning day about myself and how things work. I am especially struggling with eating everything on my plate. This something that I was taught from a young age. My grandmother would always say "waste not, want not". But now it is something that could be very damaging to my new stomach. Is anyone else having/had this same program? What do I do to help myself? Sent from my SM-G935P using the BariatricPal App

    Clean plate syndrome

I also weigh everything I eat. I tend to weigh out 4 oz of food. But as we all know, what we can eat from meal to meal. This is part of what I need to put into practice. Sent from my SM-G935P using the BariatricPal App

    stomach growling

I ask the nurse practitioner for my program about the growl because it embarrassed me especially public. She told me that it is just the digestive process. The stomach is so different and much small so you can actually hear the action of you stomach. I am 6 months out and my stomach is loud as ever. It even starts while I am eating. Some say that it goes away and others say it just hangs around, it just depends on each person. Hope that was helpful Sent from my SM-G935P using the BariatricPal App

    Question from a Non-cook

Even though you may want things that your husband has and not sure what you will do about meals, that process. For a while you will need to be a bit selfish. You need to find food that work with your new sleeve. I've found the simplest things will not work with you. I really enjoy Peanut Butter but can do it anymore. Before any of us can worry about someone else ear we have to take care of ourself and relearn food all over again. You'll figure it all out in due time. Good luck! Sweats after eating

Dumping syndrome can definitely cause havoc. Like everyone else is saying, time will tell those triggers. And your actually reactions with the dumping syndrome can vary. Sent from my SM-G935P using the BariatricPal App

    Sweats after eating

I have a question about this...what's the general ratio of mayo/gravy/sauce to meat that you can add before it turns the meat into a slider food? Right now, I'm measuring and eating by quantity, not hunger, but I guess at some point my appetite is going to come back and I'm going to need to understand the impact of slider foods more then? Edit: I have another question, can I call you Lippy? It's what I think of in my mind when I see your name, plus I wear this awesome Butter lipcolor called 'The Lippy'. It just works for me in so many ways! I am 22 weeks out and still struggle with foods. I as well still weigh food out (4oz). I don't remember ever breaking out into sweats when eating but everyone's body reacts very differently to this process. Instead of sweat I had nausea with food and liquids. Did not progress my food as fast as I could have and it's perfectly fine. My dietitian just said try not to stay in fell liquids for a month or more. That you need to work on getting more items into your diet. More nutrition. Try as many didn't foods and try to find things that agree with you. It's going to try a bit of trial and error but it gets better. The reactions lessen and/or become more tolerable. And try not to beat yourself up because you feel you are not where the program suggest you should be. Keep up the work and keep us updated. Sent from my SM-G935P using the BariatricPal App
  7. I am so sorry that you have gotten irritated with responses that you received from this post. We all have had some sort of experience whether it be pre or post surgery. I know for me, I enjoy sharing my experience to help others along their journey and I love to hear from others further along than I am. I really hope that you can understand most of us feel the same way. Just sharing our journey and supporting one another. Good luck Sent from my SM-G935P using the BariatricPal App
  8. When I had my surgery I took all kinds of clothes and smell goods and such. I didn't touch 90% of it. I know for me, I didn't feel like being bothered and didn't really want to move. But I am glad you are super prepared. I was also prepped for when I was coming home. I made food ice cubes. Soups, broths and such as well as buying popsicles. I lived on popsicles, coffee and tea for a while. Good luck and keep us up to date Sent from my SM-G935P using the BariatricPal App

  10. Hi Dk370,I am big time struggling with the same thing. But I am about to have yogurt even though I can not have milk, lactaid, fairlife, soy or almond milk. My dietitian for the program tells me to keep try different Protein shakes. She mentioned isopure or take the shakes with Water. Atkins now has a protein water. It has 21 grams per bottle. I wasn't a huge fan of it but my mom loves it. It all depends on the person. Hope this helps some Sent from my SM-G935P using the BariatricPal App
  11. The weeks leading up to my surgery I was extremely excited, the day of the surgery I was a nervous mess and had to ask for something to relax me. By the way, what part of Ohio. I'm on Akron. Sent from my SM-G935P using the BariatricPal App
  12. I gained all of the weight back that I lost during the months before. One can also have a situation that is called last supper syndrome. You eat all of those foods you feel you won't be able to eat afterwards. The initial weight gain before the surgery has not stopped my weight loss afterwards. I am down 74lbs in 5 months. Everything will work out in the end. Good luck and keep us updated! Sent from my SM-G935P using the BariatricPal App

    5 months out

Hi everyone, I am at 20 weeks out from my surgery and I am starting to feel like this process was a great decision. For some time I wasn't so sure. Also, I have shocked myself with my weight loss triumphs thus far. I have hit 74lbs lost in this time frame. This amount is 69% loss of excess weight. The center that I go to has a chart of typical weight loss percentages at the milestone visits during the first year. On August 3rd I weighed in and that day I hit the high end of the one year percentage of excess weight loss goal. I am over the moon. My surgeon gave me a goal weight of 178lbs for after my surgery. Well at 20 weeks I am only 4lbs from that goal and 17lbs from my original weight loss I gave myself of 165lbs. Has anyone else had this type of weight loss when starting the process with only 80lbs or so of excess weight to lose? I have heard that the more one needs to lose, the fast it comes off but that is not what I am experiencing. I hope I have conveyed my thoughts clearly lol. Sometimes you just get going and are all over the place. I look forward to hearing from all of you out there. Sent from my SM-G935P using the BariatricPal App

A lot of the pain that you are experiencing is because you body doesn't know what to do because things are no longer the way it was before and you were cut on and parts cut out. In time the pain begins to ease and movement becomes easier Sent from my SM-G935P using the BariatricPal App

Yeah, the hospital wasn't giving me my meds as often as they should have. They didn't even come in to make sure I was walking. It was a shitty hospital. Good thing my surgeon is fantastic. The only pain meds that helped me is Dilaudid. The liquid Norco barely touches the pain. I can't wait till I'm done with this liquid diet. I'm so sick of eating broth and Jello. I miss my Protein shakes and tomato Soup. >_<;I am so sorry to hear that. Everyone deserves that great care when they have such a life changing surgery. If it were me, I would report this hospital floor to the hospital administration. Again I am so sorry about that. Sent from my SM-G935P using the BariatricPal App
  17. I know right now thing are very hard. I know I went through a very similar time in my process. Have a very emotional time during the first month's is very normal is to be excepted. I am 5 months out still get emotional. As far as the pain and trouble with food. They will all get better, I know it's hard to believe right now but it will. You just have to take it one day at a time. And you have to only worry about your own progress and not try to compare to other when it comes to how your body excepts the process. I will you the best and keep us updated! Sent from my SM-G935P using the BariatricPal App

    Looking for a buddy

Like the others have said, everyone is here to help one another. We can all understand what each other has gone through, something most do not. I am available help if you need me. I am only 5 months out but spend 1 year to the date to get to my surgery. Personal message me whenever you like. Sent from my SM-G935P using the BariatricPal App
  20. I am 4 mos post op and I have had problems with diarrhea and stomach cramps since the surgery. I keep eliminating items from my diet and the problems continue to exist. Is anyone else having this same situation? And if so, has anyone found a solution to this? Sent from my SM-G935P using the BariatricPal App

    Bathroom situations

I try to get in as much Protein from my diet as possible but I am still very limited in the amount of food I can consume each meal. I also can not drink the shakes, they increase the diarrhea and they have my stomach in knots. But I guess only being 4 months out today, that this will continue to be a learning process Sent from my SM-G935P using the BariatricPal App

    3 months out

I just went for my 3 month check up/weigh in. I was told that I had loss 22 lbs since the end of April. I was so excited. I then realized that means that I have lost 60 lbs in 3 month. I am very shocked because I am only 30 lbs away from my goal. What were you progress at this point in this journey? Sent from my SM-G935P using the BariatricPal App
  23. I disagree- I absolutely have control over my weight. That's why I got sleeved, to regain control of my body. I would never suggest acting to one's detriment, e.g. If something causes me pain, I listen to my body and stop doing it. However giving up control got me to 265 lbs.I am not sure that you have completely understood what I meant. I never meant that you would not have control over your eating. That is definitely something I am appreciative of now. What I was intending to express, a lot of people are concerned about the ultimate weight they will end up at. My initial goal for my weight weight was 165 lbs. Well, I am 3 months out and have already lost 60 lbs. That leaves me 30 lbs from my goal. This is leaving me not so much in control of the amount of weight that I will ultimately lose. Sent from my SM-G935P using the BariatricPal App
  24. I used Celebrate Vitamins at first especially since they are local for me. After about a month they weren't so great. My surgeons office offered me Bariactive brand. The mail them to my house (multivitamins, Calcium, Iron and b12 spray) they melt in your mouth and they are pretty good. Sent from my SM-G935P using the BariatricPal App
  25. To add to what I posted previously: at the rate that I am losing weight. I really think that I am going to surpass the weight goal that I personal set for myself (which would have left me with a bmi in the overweight range). I have a feeling that I am probably going to be closer to the normal range. We all just have to listen to our bodies and stop trying to decided what is going to happen when ultimately we have no control over it. Sent from my SM-G935P using the BariatricPal App
