I have found myself in the same boat! My VGS surgery was put off until June 20th. I was originally scheduled for April 25th. Now I'm conflicted about the TYPE of procedure I want. I was hyped and ready before. Now I'm thinking I should have the Roux en y or bypass because I'm hearing they help diabetes more. Does anyone have experience with that? I'm afraid if I do change it that they will push my surgery off even more!!! I have had several food "funerals" too CariVoe. I think I better stop though or I'll have even more weight to lose. Dear UpandAtom Your journey sounds similar to mine. I am in Missouri, just outside of St Louis, I finally had s surgery date of April 25th and started my pre-op liquid. I found out today my PCP has changed his mind and will NOT give clearance until I see a neurosurgeon regarding some MRI results of my neck and upper spine. I'm so frustrated with this roller coaster but I've come too far to turn around now. I too have knee replacements. 3 of them. Both knees were replaced when I was 40. My left was replaced again in 2011 which caused me spinal injuries and I became disabled. I am 52 and feel like this VGS will be the tool I need to turn my health and my life around. Hello everyone I am 52 (53 next month) and I'm scheduled for VGS April 25 th in St Louis, Mo area. I know y'all are already done but I am needing some WLS friends to communicate with. I am only on day 2 of my pre op liquid diet and I can't shake this thought of "what if"! What if this doesn't help me lose. What if my diabetes isn't any better. Dear Santiago Draco, first of all CONGRATULATIONS!! Your story is awesome & inspiring. I have so much weight to lose that's why I'm getting the sleeve done. I have several medical problems. Diabetes is my main one. I take 3 insulins (5 shots daily) plus metformin. I'm also on BP med and pain meds etc. My HOPE is to get my blood sugars under control and get off all these meds. Hi careya123 It sounds like we might have the same pcp! It was a very unpsetting visit but u continued to tell him I checked with the insurance co, it's covered, I'm following protocol and ultimately it's my decision and if he didn't work with me then I would change Drs! Good luck to you. I'm anxious to get my surgery date. It's supposed to be by mid April. I just want to be on the healing side so I can move forward with getting my health better.
