    3rd fill

I THOUGHT I had good restriction after 2 fills, and I did for awhile. But I was still doing the too big bites, feel miserable thing (stuck, pbing, sliming), warm liquids the rest of the day thing. NOW, after my third fill (which was 5 weeks ago), my restriction is still good. I am eating the right things (generally), small bites and small portions and feeling satisfied for 3 or 4 hours. I still don't think I am at my "sweet spot", but as long as I am loosing (albeit slowly), I will stick with this awhile longer. My measurement is white bread, if I can eat a PBJ on white bread I need a fill. Now, I can't even NIBBLE white bread without it sticking (tried yesterday for the 1st time since my last fill, just as a test). HOORAY!

    Self fills.

Well, in my opinion that is a recipe for infection and other disasters! I have to drive nearly 6 hours for my fills, I stay the night in a hotel and drive back the next AM to be sure I am NOT too tight. And EMERGENCY unfill? I also think, if you don't have time for someone to drive you to your Dr, you have had a problem for quite awhile and should have gone to see him sooner. As for numbing, my Dr swabs me with numbing stuff before he sticks me. I haven't ever been filled using fluoro, but will go have fluoro at my 1 year bandiversary to just be sure all is OK with my band. I have had 3 fills and have 3.3 ccs in my 10 cc band. Very good restriction, but not sure if this is my "sweet spot" yet.

    Protein Waters

My doctor said they were fine. But I used (and still do), Isopure carb free. No sugar, no carbs. 160 cal and 40 g protein per bottle. A little spendy, but when you need the protein it is worth it. I like Icey Orange - in the freezer for about 90 min - open it up and it turns slushy. Although sometimes since my 3rd fill I can't do slushy. I usually only use it now after my elliptical.
  4. Hi, I'm new to this forum. I am from NC. I was banded Oct 1, 2007 in TJ, MX by Dr. Ortiz. I have lost 50 pounds (including my pre-op diet), and I love my band! I have never had any trouble with it. I have had 3 fills and I'm at 3.3 cc's and I have pretty good restriction. I think maybe in another few months I will go in for another adjustment to try to REALLY get to me "sweet spot". I will be going back to TJ around my one year bandiversary to have a fill under flouro, just to be sure all is OK with everything!

    What Kind of Protien Drink?

I like Isopure, too. Icey Orange is my favorite. I put it in the freezer for 90 min or so, open it up and I have a slushie!

    Hiatal Hernia anyone?

Same here. For years I ate tums like candy. Then was prescribed ranitadine, and was taking that twice a day. Dr found the hiatal hernia during surgery (in my pre-op interview he said he was sure he'd find one). He fixed it with no problems. I haven't had to take anything for heartburn, GERD or acid reflux since. That was almost as good as the weight loss results from the band.
