Thanks guys. Finally at home got discharged yesterday. Definitely less pain today, easier to sit and stand up except when i try to get out of bed. Haven't used any pain meds today . Ive been trying to finish this 1/2 cup of yogurt for the past 40 min but i think im going to leave it for lunch. Im afraid to get on the scale still cuz when was in the hospital i was 5 lb heavier. Hurts to cough Dasha

    3 weeks post op pain

I am day 3 post op, walking around my room right now. The left side incision is a killer! When i take a deep breath or walk or get up from the bed i have to hold it cuz it hurts sooo much. They are truing a 3rd type of narcotic on my right now cuz the other 2 weren't too effective. I am on some Oxy right now, but its not helping too much. Id it wasnt for that incision on the left i would be running around good luck hope it goes away soon Dasha

    Today is a new day

Surgery went well, laying in bed half asleep. I already took my first walk to the nurses station and back and my room is towards the end of the hall. I dont have much pain, just the incision on the left hurts. Im trying to stay more awake so i don't use drugs as much. Cant eat anything just sucking on a little ice cube once an hr. My mouth is super dry. I think its a mental thing, im not hungry but if i would be told that i can eat i would. Dasha
  4. Surgery in T-4 days nervous and exited. Haven't been able to sleep well over the last few days... Too much thinking. Some before and after pics i see definitely keep me in check of my overall goal! Cant wait to be on the other side of things. Start to drop this weight that I've been carrying most of my life. Dasha

  6. I struggled with my weight all my life. I was in a way lucky i guess, i can only count on one hand when i was depressed about the way i looked. I always had boyfriends, many friends around me, and i really loved my self. I tried all sorts of diets, i was on the basketball team, cheerleading, i swam, but i would never get smaller. When i got pregnant i gained 60lb, i didn't feel sick, didn't throw up even once. I was about 280 at the beginning of my pregnancy by the time i had my son i was close to 345lb. I lost about 25 lb in the next 3 years. I have a husband who loves the way i am, a healthy baby boy, no health issues no sleep apnea, i ran a 5k last year, but when I go to the park with my son i cant go down the slides with him, i cant go on rides with him at the amusement parks. That was my break point, that is when i realized that i need to get this surgery because no matter how active i would stay, how many times a week i go to the gym it will not change the way I eat, or how much food i can eat. This is my only option. I am on the liquid diet today, and tomorrow at 7:30 am my life is going to change. I am having gastric bypass tomorrow. I cant wait for this to change my life, i don't know how i look like under 250lb, i CANT WAIT to see myself after a few month. I am doing it for myself, but my biggest inspiration my determination is my little monkey. Dasha

  10. My emotions are all over the map too. I am scared and excited. My surgery isnt for another 17 days... This week i am dedicating to foods i will not be able to eat i had some spicy indian food yesterday and a slice of pizza. Today i had some coke. This weekend im having lots of wine hehe... Bit staring Monday im going to watch what i eat and mainly go to Protein shakes. I started going to the gym 3-4 times a week for the past 4 month and now my parents and my husband are telling me that maybe i dont need the surgery... Since i stated to loose some weight. UM NO! Been there done that! Working out is just part of it the food intake is the key. Stay positive, set goals for ur self. All i can think about is next years christmas/new years party or halloween.... Finally being able to wear an awesome costume or a beautiful dress and look good in it and not like a whale. Im 5'9 and about 307 started at 319 in September. I am super scared but all i can think about is the future.... Its going to be tough and horrible at times, but if u have a goal u will get through it! If u ever want to talk message me its always nice to have someone to talk to who is going through the same thing. Others they might say they understand and support u, but its just not the same. First timer on forum

I am a smoker as well, i had to quit since they tested me for nicotine. Google it, usually it stays in the system for up to 5-6 weeks. Depends on how much u smoked. Vaping also could show up on the test. When i quit i went to vaping but it was 0 nicotine. And after a week i didn't even want to vape. I have another test on Monday when i go in for my pre op, surgery on the 18th. Last test i did was in December. I have a coworker who smoked 1-2 packs a day and he had surgery on Tuesday. They tested him too, he quit for 3 weeks and passed. All depends on ur metabolism. I hate when ppl tell me that i need to quit, I'm the type of person that... Until I decided i need to quit i wont listen to anyone. This time I'm doing it for me. Good luck i know its hard. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Minnesota

Hello, i live in Apple Valley and having surgery @ Fairview Southdale as well with Dr. Benn on 4/18/16. Im super excited and scared. Haven't beed able to sleep the last few nights. Ive never had surgery and the only time in a hospital when i had my son. Have my pre op on the 4th . And going to Fairview for the pre op class on the 7th. Im so excited to start this journey, to loose all this weight. I have been big all my life even though i never had health issues and have been active in many different sports, but i think that just looking at food makes me gain 20 lb. i dont know what i look like under 250lb. The diet restrictions are super scary thought. Mngreeneyes- what did u think of Fairview Southdale? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
