Advice needed please! (Give me hope? Please?)
OzRoo replied to jessjames's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Yes, please call your surgeon and PCP. I can't remember if you had gastric sleeve or bypass done. Could be a stricture, but you need to see your doctor. My appetite came back in months 6-7, and I could eat more. However I did not lose as much weight as you have. Good luck, please pick up the phone, and let us know how you went @@jessjames -
Good Luck! Wishing you a smooth recovery.

Yay! Great News ! Happy to hear that you are feeling much better today!
-
I forgot to add that I live in a very warm climate, so my thin top and skirt don't add much extra weight.
-
Wore clothes. Also made sure I went to a bathroom first, if I was busting after a car trip. The only thing I took off were my shoes.

I've accepted the 2nd offer! The first one was too silly, far too low. 2nd offer was lot higher and much better. Fingers crossed it sells soon!

HAVING SECOND THOUGHTS PRE OP!
OzRoo replied to sanaa.a's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I did it still afraid. Once I got to the hospital, I was so busy that I forgot about my fears. Then, later I was given a nice pre-med drug cocktail that actually relaxed me so much that I fell asleep while I was waiting for the surgery. Then a trip to theatre room, count backwards from 10, vaguely remember 8, and next I was waking up in recovery to have my vitals checked. Fell asleep again, briefly woke up to have my vitals checked (don't remember being wheeled to my hospital room), fell asleep etc .... I was done late in the evening, so I just slept and slept. Next day had a walk with a physio plus my IV stand, started on my fluids, had bit of pain, mainly from my drain site on my left side, got good pain killers. Was relieved once the drain came out the day after (not everyone gets a drain), could sip more fluids, had a clear Soup, Jello, Water, tea. Not much pain after drain came out. No nausea, no vomiting. This was lot less painful surgery than some other ones I had in the past. So, have faith that if it brought you this far, you can go further, be afraid etc, just take one step at a time, and One Day at a Time. Good Luck! -
Currently obsessing with selling my investment property. Got a buyer, now heavily negotiating the sale price. Hope it is over soon! I wish I had Nothing to obsess about, like you @LisaMergs

First ever Sliming episode at 8 months post op
OzRoo posted a topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Craved some Japanese food, so I had 4 small gyozas, and I was fine with those. I also got 4 steamed pork dim sims to go, and had them many hours later. I think I ate them too fast and broke the no fluids for 30 mins after food, as I had to take few large tablets about 10 mins after I had the dim sims. Had that stuck feeling in my oesophagus, and I could feel it spasming a bit. I just sat down, waiting for this unpleasant feeling to go away, next thing this huge slime ball comes out of me ..... No nausea, just slime and more slime. Yuck! It just shows that at 8 months post op, stuff can still happen! I was too busy to eat, so I got too hungry and ate too fast. I am not sure if the light Pasta like wrapping had something to do with the sliming, although gyozas have a thin layer of pasta like wrapping also, and I was OK with them. I normally would have my regular Protein meal, but frankly I had enough of it, and wanted to try something else. Anyone else, further down post op still sliming at times? What sets it off for you? -

@@_Kate_ Thank you! It was such a surprise for me. And, yes, I did feel like crap for few hours afterwards, just had to take it easy. Yes, the length of recovery time doesn't matter. Got to stick to the rules ...... hopefully it won't happen again! Thank you for your comments -
So, I went to a Tattoo Parlour today! He, he

I never even heard of "daith." I'm completely unpierced. Used to want just lobes because I like earrings and clips hurt after a little while. Chickened out. You are a brave bunch.
-
Yes, I never heard of Daith till few days ago. At first I thought that someone misspelled a word, LOL.
As for my earlobes, I was 25 when I first had them done. Few years later I decided on 2 more holes in my earlobes, so I could wear 4 earrings.
These last 2 are mainly for medical reasons, as my migraines and headaches were getting really bad. So, yes, had to be brave as I was getting desperate. Earlobes don't hurt for piercings. The cartilage parts hurt a little bit, only for 1-2 seconds and then they are fine.
Just got to be careful with after care, and once all is healed, there is no pain whatsoever.

Amazing post. And so true. As someone who has been involved with 12 Step programs like AA most of my life, believe you me, there is none of that nonsense going on when someone in a meeting admits they 'slipped'. There's no coddling, head patting or excusing the behavior. There's just "Get your sh*t together, man, or you're going to DIE". Agree! Denial is Not a river in Africa, and people are advised that they can go out and do some more "research" while having all their misery refunded! Definitely no coddling, or saying that "one" drink/drug/unhealthy food won't hurt ..... It will Hurt! It starts the addiction again, and some people unfortunately never make it back alive ....

The genetic theory does not apply to me. I was Slim all my life till 2014. You can check my photos in my Gallery. I also suffer from depression on and off, and never gained weight because of it. My Graves Disease (autoimmune thyroid disorder) did 180 degree turn 2 years ago, I piled on weight 2014-early 2016, yet my Endo says that Graves contributed about 25% to my weight-gain, rest was my unhealthy eating during those 2 years. I gained 90Ib in 2 years due to eating loads of chocolate and fatty foods, and stopped even going for walks, let alone exercise. I have lost 70Ib so far, and nearing goal weight, albeit slower 8 months post op. If genetics were true, and even Graves Disease where you have high metabolism and can eat almost anything without putting on weight, I would have never gained this 90Ib! I wish ......

Sleeve scheduled for 10/19- would you do it again?
OzRoo replied to jaylee9146's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Yes, I would do it again! At 6 months I got off Nexium PPI and remained reflux free. At 6 months my gurgling stomach noises went away, and if they occasionally come back, they are lot quieter. At 6 months I was down 70Ib. At 6 months most of the foods (healthy ones) that did not agree with me, I am now able to eat. At 6 months, the stomach is completely healed. I am now 8 months post op, and doing well. Wishing all the earlier post op members great improvement in health and great results! -
@@sanaa.a Very welcome! Yes, please keep me posted, and if I can help or give support, PM me or post. Yes, this surgery made me lose most of my excess weight. I am not too far from goal, but my weight-loss has slowed down in the last month. Stomach is fully healed. However, the loss will continue ... Once again, all the best for your surgery!

@@sanaa.a That's great. I suppose it depends on a person's BMI and excess weight. Here are some members who did not have to have any pre-op diet, and some that had to be on this diet for 4 weeks prior the op. It is mainly to shrink the liver, so the surgeon can see better inside you, and does not have to deal with enlarged liver being in the way. I was lower BMI 37.1, 101kg, 165cm in height. My liver was not overly enlarged. Your diet is only for 1 week, so as the lady said, just get back to eating the right foods and drinks, and stop worrying about it. Good luck

Killian's Gastric Sleeve Journey
OzRoo replied to Killian's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Quite a few thyroid members had similar experiences with their Thyroxine levels getting too strong with each major weight-loss, and complaining of not sleeping, or doing housework at 3 am ..... So, definitely for you to have this surgery once you're retired sounds like a very sensible plan. It is so tough to try and work when you had only 2-3 hrs sleep. Thankfully I have not been working for a while, so my many sleepless nights only made me tired, and not stressed. Yes, I hope to get my levels corrected soon, although it takes 6 weeks to really notice a diference. Fingers crossed! And if you ever need support, or have questions, please post or PM me @@Killian I'll be happy to share my experiences with you. -
Hi Real Me, Good luck for the following Thursday! It will be over before you know it
