Can't eat meat - when did you like meat again?
OzRoo replied to tenseintexas's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
@@tenseintexas At 3-4 months post op, I could not tolerate beef, and I was too scared to try other meats. I ate mainly chicken, turkey and fish. At 5 months, I tried veal and lamb, had to be very moist, and I was OK with them. Then I tried pork, and this was fine with me, too. I was on Nexium as well, 40mg. Just because meat makes you unwell right now, does not mean that you won't be able to stay away from it forever. Give it bit of time, like few weeks, and then perhaps try meat that is minced/ground with lot of sauce in it, and see how you go. Stomach takes 6 months to heal, so with time tolerances and tastes may change. Good Luck. -
@ Oh yes !!!! LOL Crazeeeeeeeeee ........ Now I have "Dude looks like a Lady" and "Walk with Me" (the RunDMC plus Aerosmith) running through my head!

Straw and coffee from 1st day post op, still in the hospital. One of my Protein drinks was always given to me with a straw. I also chewed gum early post op, no problems. So, in my own experience and with my surgeon's advice, I had no adverse effects. Nil, Nada. Still use straws daily, drink coffee daily and chew gum at times.

Yes, it can be frustrating and disheartening to not have the scales move for a long period of time. I guess some people are lucky, and they lose quickly. I am stepping up dense Proteins, just got GENEPRO Protein powder from the States, that I can add to my coffee. My other Protein Powder, I add to my Chobani yoghurt. I have read on these forums that if weight loss stops or stalls for a long time, providing we don't indulge in slider foods, eating protein mainly meals, no carbs, can help reset and re-start the weight-loss again. My plan is: 80g Protein, 800 calories per day. Percentage wise: 40% Protein, 35% Carbs, and 22% fats. I have been upping up my chicken, lamb, fish, turkey and pork, as well as adding more protein powder as of today. Time will show. I am glad that you downloaded MFP, and now can track your daily food/drink goals and amounts. I also upped my Water intake. Good luck to us both, @@rose1504

Perhaps New Zealand could be the next destination? Baaaaa ......

Awesome! Yes, there are few Aussies here I am over 8 months post op, only 3 kg to go, and I have been stalled at the same weight for the past7-8 weeks. I too can eat more, and eat quicker, and guzzle lot of Water in one go. I am finding that losing weight is tougher now than when I was in the honeymoon phase. And my hunger has returned. Now, the hard work starts. Let us know how you went with your stomach scans, please.

@@rose1504 Greetings from an ex Sydney person, now in Queensland. How much Protein daily do you eat (in grams)? How much Water do you drink? How many Carbs do you consume, and are these healthy carbs like fruit and vegetables, or unhealthy/sugary/processed ones? How big are your portions per meal? Do you drink alcohol? Yes, MyFitnessPal is great to keep track of the food/drink consumed daily. Once it is set up and programmed correctly, it is very easy to use. My Dietician gave me percentages of my Daily Goals re: Proteins, Carbs, Fats and Calories. Yes, as mentioned above, a visit to a Bariatric Dietician would be good, to discuss your situation and make goals and food plans. Good Luck!

How Many Surgeons Did You Meet Before Deciding on One?
OzRoo replied to Alex Brecher's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I met with one, and chose him. He was recommended to me through a friend of a friend's wife. After speaking with the wife on the phone, seeing her before and after photos, and hearing the praise she had for this surgeon and her surgery, I researched this surgeon and was quite impressed. I made an appointment with this particular surgeon. He made me feel very comfortable, has an excellent track record, and an excellent support system. He is also very choosy who he will operate on. Before I was accepted for surgery, I had to meet with his whole team. For my case, I had to have few dietician meetings, few bariatric psychologist meetings, and endocrinologist meetings with a range of tests that had to be done. I was then assessed few times by the whole team, any concerns addressed, and all my "boxes" had to be ticked off. I had no qualms re this surgeon. He ticked all the "boxes" for me. His whole staff and team were/are fantastic to deal with. I am really glad that I was accepted and it was/is a pleasure to deal with this surgeon and his team and practice. -
Yes, there are some great crustless pizza recipes on Pinterest. I found this one. I could probably add some black olives to it

@@Alex Brecher Thank you Alex! I've reported few spammers. Today I decided to out them out .... I will go back to reporting them. Yes, disabling newbies from posting links will be a sensible action, hopefully we will be getting lot less of Spam, and hopefully none.

I have been noticing SPAM posts and SPAM status updates. What a choice do they offer us: fix premature ejaculation, male enhancements, garcinia for weight-loss, Probiotics, there were some targeting the female members and more .... Usually a Spam post is made as a 1st Newbie post. Usually the spammer will post only a link to their spamming website. I am seriously concerned that by inadvertently clicking on one of those links could potentially result in downloading a trojan virus and malware. Spammers also post Status Updates. I just had my little rant about Spammers in my status update, then noticed that Directly below My status update is a Spammer promoting male enhancements and stopping/curing premature ejaculation ....... There were some spamming posts in the past that totally did not make sense! Yes, written in English with words put together into nonsense, like a wilted word salad .... I normally used to ignore the spamming posts, I also reported a few. Today I decided to Rant about the spammers. PS, all that hype re: garcinia cambogia is bogus. It will not magically melt fat away nor reduce the appetite.

@@Malin Yes, good for a laugh, and I agree, the Spammers seem to be multiplying these days .... I don't need their crap either!

LOL, the Spammer below my status took a hike! So it is Not Lisa's status below mine. Right now, there is 1 Spammer at the bottom of Recent Topics, and 5 in Topics with No Reply!
