When I had my rapid weight gain, I couldn't stand having a photo taken, and I couldn't stand looking in the mirror .... Yes, I never want to look like that, ever again! Months later, I am no longer photo shy. All the Best @@Treadmillwalker I am looking forward to your updates, later on

5-7 minutes between bites? Is it true?
OzRoo replied to macon_me's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was told to use little spoon or little fork. Chew, chew, chew and then some more, put the little spoon/fork down. Pause, then wash/rinse/repeat. I still use my little plates, bowls, little spoons and forks, I quite like them now -
How long before the "honeymoon" is over?
OzRoo replied to highfunctioningfatman's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
For me, my honeymoon period ended after 6 months ..... I was a lower BMI though, but shifting the last few pounds/kilos is getting tougher and taking longer for me. I am so close to goal ..... still not there yet. "Are we there yet? Are we there yet?!" ..... LOL -
Yes, limiting the carbs, increasing the Proteins, more Water and exercise definitely do help! Well done @@CynthiaM333 !

Do all lightweights (BMI<35) avoid loose skin?
OzRoo replied to Kila Rass's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
@@Kila Rass My pre-surgery BMI was 37.1 I have now lost most of my excess weight. I have hardly any loose skin, mainly in my upper arms, but they are not too bad. I am much older than you are, so as our lovely Kathy mentioned, at your age and with low BMI, your results could be really good! So, please don't worry too much! Good luck with your research and future surgery! -
3 Extra glasses of Water a Day, keeps the Weight Away!

Couple more factors that may disrupt weight loss: 1. Alcohol 2. Thyroid disease: undiagnosed, not treated properly
-
Today I finally noticed another change. After 6-8 weeks bouncing around the same weight, my longest stall so far, I put my pretty watch on, and it was super loose around my wrist. In my fat days, I could barely do its bracelet up, and it was digging into my skin. Today, it was half way up towards my elbow ..... And I lost a full shoe size! Even though my (I'm not happy with you right now) scales haven't budged much, obviously I am losing inches/centimetres .... Yay for small NSVs ! 8 months post op, and I am well past my honeymoon phase, and I am so grateful for any improvements.

@@Elisha203 Hi, I presume you had your surgery in June 2016 ? I don't know the answer to your question, sorry. For me, after 6 months my weight loss started to slow down. At 6 months, the stomach is fully healed, hunger can come back with the ability to eat more. I still weigh and measure my portions, until I reach my goal, whenever this may be. I was also in the lower starting BMI range (37.1), and the lower BMIs seem to be losing bit slower than higher BMIs. Other factors that slowed my weight-loss were few episodes of falling off the wagon, such as eating ice-cream and frozen yoghurt, having too many carbs such as Water melon, and eating late at night. The late night eating was due to my insomnia caused by my Thyroid disease. If I had my dinner at 8pm, and was still awake at 3-4 am, then I got hungry, and had to eat something. I am sleeping much better now, thank goodness! @@Elisha203 My reboot is slow but is starting to kick in. I have mainly all Protein meals, I supplement more with protein powders in my yoghurt and coffee. I don't like the shakes. I stepped up my exercise. I suggest talking with your Dietician/Nut, perhaps even your surgeon. Do you track your food and drinks? I use MFP, My Fitness Pal Are you on any weight causing medications, such as steroids, anti-depressants, mood stabilisers, etc ? How much protein do you consume per day? Are you drinking enough water? Are you exercising? Do you eat unhealthy carbs? How big are your meal portions? Were you lower BMI ? All of the above may influence the weight loss. There are probably more factors, but the above ones I can think of right now. I feel there should be a forum for Us in the Middle, not Newbies and not Veterans either, just the In- Betweens. Good luck and best wishes!

@@rose1504 Definitely get your Thyroid checked, and not just TSH and T4, but T3 as well. I have Graves Disease (autoimmune thyroid disease), this kept me slim my whole life, till 2014 when it did 180 degree turn, and I was piling on weight at a frightening speed. I went from 60kg to 101kg between 2014 and March 2016. I also developed astonishing sweet cravings during that time, which made a mess of me. Graves is Hyper-thyroid. I had every symptom of this disease, except of bulging eyes and goitre. There is also Hypo-thyroid (under-active), Hashimotos etc which also can really mess with metabolism and general well being. Good luck @@rose1504 I hope you don't have thyroid disease, as I wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy ...... Had my both ear Daiths pierced 3 weeks ago, to see if they would help my thyroid migraines and severe headaches. They (the acupressure point piercings) helped me tremendously! I was living almost daily on very strong pain killers. Now, I don't take them, and so those piercings really helped me. I have a huge stock of heavy duty pain killers at home, and now I forget all about them. So, Good Luck with all your tests. Please let us know how you went.

@@sanaa.a During my puree stage I had many savoury purees, and the only sweet one was from Chobani yoghurt, bit of banana or pawpaw, vanilla essence, Stevia and cinnamon, All blasted in my Nutri Bullet. I was told that the purees had to be runny, easily falling off the spoon. Savoury purees: Minced chicken with liquid stock and cheese sauce, minced poached salmon with stock and yoghurt, minced turkey with stock and cheese sauce. Forget the others, but if you need more ideas, let me know and I will have a look in my Dietician's notes and booklet. Soft/Mushy: Soft boiled egg (scrambled egg at this stage made me dump) cream/cottage cheese on Cruskits Refried Beans Poached Salmon in sauce Chicken/Turkey minces with sauce I dumped on Beef, did not tolerate it Melted light yellow cheese Chobani yoghurt with grated apple Banana smoothies And flaky fish, apart from my beloved salmon. Plus jellies and custard. Plus increased amounts of Protein powder added to yoghurt mainly.

@@Jobey Wow, you look great ! Congratulations! Yes, I too noticed slowing down of my weight loss. I lost 33kg/72 Ib in my first 6-7 months. Lately I have been sitting on 68kg/149 Ib for the past 6-7 weeks, and it is not budging. I even made a post about it in the General Gastric Sleeve: "I'm still Shrinking", as I am still losing my measurements. I am very close to Goal, and I don't like my scales right now, but my wrist, shoe size, arms and face are showing more changes. Plus my clothes are getting looser still. I have changed to mostly Protein diet now, and I got my GENEPRO Protein powder from the States that I add to my coffee now. Still add my Aussie protein powder to my yoghurt. For me, the honey moon period finished after 6-7 months, hunger returned and weight loss slowed. Thank goodness for NSVs! @@Jobey I am in Queensland too, moved to the Gold Coast few years ago (from Sydney).

I have been reporting them diligently, every day. I find at least 5-6 SPAMs per day. I actually gave First Prize to one today (in my report), it had most amazing nonsensical and truly laughable pseudo English. I also noticed there is one plugging "Legendary Beard"! Today was the second Spam, nickname changed, but the same "Legendary Beard" BS! I think this person needs to go to a barber! Anyway, I hope most of us report this nonsense, soonest we see it. It is easy and quick. I mainly write "SPAM" in the Report button, and send it off. They seem to appear early morning for you, Americans. I spot them in my time zone at early/late afternoon. We truly need the new rule of banning Newbie first posts with a link provided. Anyway, my rant over for now, have to finally go to bed! I tagged Alex before, maybe you can do it too, @@James Marusek. Nite, nite for me.

Interesting article on WLS and weight regain
OzRoo replied to OzRoo's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
@@rose1504 Yes, there are many factors involved in weight loss or gain. Please let us know what your scan results show. Good Luck! I am wondering if I took myself Off Nexium too soon. I was supposed to be on it for 12 months post op, as initially I had really bad reflux. I have been off Nexium now for 2 months, and I noticed that I am getting really hungry lots since then, and my nose runs like a tap. I have been reading up on Silent Reflux, and I do tick off few boxes, even with sore throats in some mornings. I thought that once I got to 6 months post op, my stomach healed and that I lost the restriction. I was also prescribed 1/2 dose of my thyroid hormone replacement, and felt the Thyroxine level was not adequate, hence more hungry often, hunger that is almost painful, loss of energy, allergies and runny nose, and general blah feeling. My thyroid med is higher again, and I am feeling better, however the hunger and wanting larger meal portions did not go away. I may go back on PPIs for a while again, and see if this will make any difference. @@rose1504 hope you get your answer soon, and feeling/thinking more positive attitude will certainly help. -
That's a great life! Everyday a honeymoon ...... Good for you! Yes, NSVs do happen, and I need to pay more attention to them, instead of the scales. Today was a surprise for me as I did not expect that Long live NSVs!
