  1. @@treciag My heart goes out to you! I am glad you came back here, to BP. In the General Weight-Loss Forum, there is a new "Regain and-back-on-track" Forum. Link below: http://www.bariatricpal.com/forum/1261-regain-and-back-on-track-new/ I haven't regained, I am still working towards my goal. What I have noticed, is that if I indulge in sweets, my weight stays the same, or even goes up slightly. So, for me, I have to watch this! I am currently doing mainly very high Protein diet, lot more Water and stepping up my exercise. I log my food, like you in the MFP. And I check in daily here, at BP. I am going through the longest stall so far, however with my high protein diet, I am noticing few NSVs, like my wrist watch is getting looser and looser, today my rings are finally loose, and it shows in my face and my clothes are looser too, despite the scales staying the same. So, currently losing inches/centimetres. Best of Luck and Best Wishes in your journey!
  2. Hi everyone, this video was posted when I joined BP, and was early post op. The Funnel analogy made an impression on me, and it was easy for me to remember that. I was happy to find it, as I saved it in my YouTube folder, and share it. Yes, it is critical information that everyone should know and follow. And for visual people, like myself, seeing it cemented this rule into my brain! Best wishes
  3. Here is a good explanation for drinking soon after a meal. Although this guy had a Bypass, this video explains what happens when someone drinks with a meal or soon after. I don't wait too much Before my meal, but After my meal, I stick to the 30 mins rule. I simply remembered the Funnel analogy.
  4. 2 weeks. And I was hungry too, lot of it was acid, so I switched onto a stronger PPI.

    Anxious

@@RWalker15 Perfectly normal feelings, thoughts and emotions to have. I was really excited at first, then about a week or so, prior my surgery, I was an anxious, scared bundle of nerves. Then the day came, and the rest is history. Best Wishes for your upcoming surgery!

Following. Great question, great answers. I am in the in-between stage (close to 9 months post op), so I am also very interested in the over 3 years post op experiences.

@@daniellepb You're correct re gummy and sugar, but, the OP had bit of fun referring to an old thread on Swedish Fish and Carp (Crap) etc

    Drinking

@@Ready824 It gets better with time. After 4-5 months post op, I was able to guzzle Water again, like I was pre op. Now, in my 9th month, I can guzzle half a large bottle of water in one go. The sipping stage does not last forever.

    Greetings from sunny Darwin!

@@ShinyLady Hi Debbie, and Welcome! The January 2017 surgery will be a great New Start to the year! Best Wishes to you! PS. I lived in Sydney most of my life, and moved to SE Queensland few years ago. I have been to Darwin few times, and remember the croc warnings. I couldn't stand the humidity though .... Glad you have a lovely new hubby
  15. I too had runny nose before surgery, mainly in cold weather, and air conditioned places, but it wasn't as bad as it is now. It makes sense re the Vagus nerve in some people. Yes, I am paying more attention now to any symptoms (if any) I get from eating, any allergy type symptoms. I read about your auto immune disease in other threads/posts. It is no fun ...... I am glad that you found a med/spray that finally works! I too tried so many different types of relief over the years. Yes, perseverance does pay off!
  16. I have Hashimoto's thyroiditis OzRoo... We should do a survey and see how many auto immune sufferers have a runny nose lol Hope you get relief soon Yes, both Graves and Hashi's can be really miserable at times. Truly, I would be interested how many auto immune sufferers who also had VSG/Bypass also suffer from the runny nose. Thank you for well wishes! My new antihistamine regime is helping better than the old one. And I got rid off my thyroid migraines/severe headaches by having my both Daiths (ear cartilage) pierced. The acupressure points in the Daiths has worked for me, and I now have extra earrings .... LOL At least I don't have to take so many strong pain killers these days. Hope your Hashi's is under control!
  17. Hi @@LipstickLady Good to hear that your nose stopped dripping! It is interesting to hear that the nose can warn of getting too full. Yes, it is a great sign! I haven't thrown up for a long time now, but get the runny nose practically every day. Some days are lot worse than others, I hope I am not sensitive to yellow cheese, that I love. Had a nice pork dish today, and I added a tablespoon of Mozzarella to it. Straight after .... bad runny nose with sneezing. And the itching at night, but this is due to my Thyroid. My current song is "I scratch myself ..." sang to the Divinyls tune ..... I will pay more attention to what I eat, drink/do when I get a really bad runny nose and sneezes. Thank you for your reply. Back to soldiering on ..... LOL. "Every time I eat cheese I scratch myself." I also get a runny nose but only if I've eaten a bite too much. My warning sign is a little burp or hiccup. Love it. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App LOL, not the cheese! Yes, I too get burps or hiccups if I eat too much ..... I wrote this silly chorus line to the "I Scratch Myself" ...... Chorus: I need something else, When I eat too much I sneeze and scratch myself oh no I want to stop and tell, Had enough of runny nose, scratching go to hell oh wow oh no, oh wow oh no, not the cheese this is just too much stop it, pretty please! Feel free to add to it ......

  19. @@_Kate_ Yes, it is strange, this runny nose business. I too have been buying lots more tissues lately. I can understand your not wanting to put another tablet/capsule into your body. I am just desperate now, as I am sure both VSG and my Graves Disease aggravate this condition. So, for now, I'll keep my anti-histamine regime. Some days are worse than others ... Thank you for your reply. I'll keep soldiering on .....

  22. Good luck Aggiemae, Sorry to hear about your facial paralysis. Glad it is getting better! Yes, steroids can be bad weight wise .... Earlier post op it was tough for me to drink lot of Water or fluids. I was able to guzzle a lot in one go, after 4 months post op. Still can now. I still add bit of juice or lemonade to my water, makes it easier to get it down. Sent from my SM-N910G using the BariatricPal App

How long before the "honeymoon" is over?

Thanks HHFM. Still, I hope that the last bit will fall off one day. Many people in our March 2016 VSG have reported that they also slowed down weight loss wise. So, close to 9 months post op, it is a bit of a shock to encounter the first major and long stall. However, I hear that weight loss still happens in dribs and drabs. Being a guy, you lose more and quicker. And you look fantastic already! Well done! ???????????? From what I have read, the weight loss still continues till 2 years post op, or so, but at a slower pace. I have increased my Proteins, Water and exercise. This should help.
