Calling all Farting and Belching Masters!
OzRoo replied to OzRoo's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Probiotics definitely helped !!! Back to normal, thank goodness I guess, the anti-biotics with the surgery, trauma to my poor tummy, different food phases, some intolerances, they all played a part in this annoying condition ..... Got Gasx/Degas, haven't needed to use it ..... Just good old pro-biotics did the trick for me, Yay ! -
Since my op, early March 2016, I have become one myself. I don't like it !!! I can't do a silent/non smelly fart anymore .... Now, it is like a loud cannon, and the smell nearly suffocates me at times .... Every day! Does it ever go away ??? Is it due to extra Protein, Benefibre, something else? Will a pro-biotic help? The belching I can cope with, and laugh at it. With the farting issue, well, I've had enough of it. So, long timers, does it ever go away, or does it linger on? What do you do to cope with it? Many Thanks

Hi, I know how to do it on other sites, but I am having issues here. So, how do I post a YouTube video so it shows with the "play" button. If I include the link, it stays the link .... Is there a way I can attach a YouTube file? Thank you.

Embrace the Stall
OzRoo replied to Inner Surfer Girl's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Yes, my weight stays the same at times (stalls) however my Measurements change, and I keep Shrinking .... So, it is all good. Inner Surfer's Girl's posts, information and reassurance made me understand the nature of the stalls, and be accepting of my journey. My body does its thing in its own time -

This was my Puree stage: Nutri bullet was my friend. pureed soft fruit with Chobani Natural yoghurt plus Protein powder Pureed poached salmon, chicken stock, any yummy and runny sauce Pureed spinach with yoghurt, chicken stock and cottage cheese Pureed chicken mince, stock, pureed frozen vegies, cheese sauce Pureed turkey mince, stock, cheese sauce Pureed soups with added yoghurt and Protein Powder (un-flavoured) I stayed away from red meat in puree stage. No raw veggies or fruit (bananas and paw paw only), I stewed pears. No stewed apples for me during puree stage. I was also adding lump free sauces to my purees. If there were few lumps in sauces, I just blasted it all in the Nutri bullet. Purees had to be Runny! Hence, I was adding stock to all my savoury purees. Diet Jelly and custard, or diet jelly and Vaalia vanilla yoghurt for desert. I also made my own banana yoghurt, with cinnamon and vanilla essence with natural yoghurt. They all tasted good and I didn't have any issues with them. Good Luck

OzRoo replied to OzRoo's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I was told I was moderately lactose intolerant. I am trialling lactose-free milk, but I love my yoghurt and cottage cheese .... I'll try Gasx, and perhaps Probiotics, as I haven't taken any for a long time. Fingers crossed! Don't want to be a Cyclone/Atomic Bomb Queen ...... Never used to burp prior this op. And my farts were mostly silent ones in the past, and not deadly .... LOL Got to laugh! I want to step down from the unwanted throne ..... -
Trouble Sleeping anyone ? (4 weeks post op)
OzRoo replied to BBweightlossjourney's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I did, and still do have sleep issues. Mine are due to my thyroid disease, the more weight I lose the higher my Thyroxine dose becomes, this makes me hyper-thyroid again, and I either stay up all night, on some nights, or fall asleep really late, or wake up really early. My Thyroxine levels are being adjusted, but it takes weeks for each adjustment to work. For now, I got sleeping tablets from my GP. My bariatric psychologist suggested a sedating anti-depressant called Valdoxan, as it does not stimulate appetite, however my GP did not want to prescribe it for me. I also take Melatonin, but without the sleeping pill or a tranquiliser, it does not work for me. Early post op, hunger also kept me awake, and I was advised to have a small Protein snack at night. Good luck, sleep is important for a good recovery. Hope you find a good solution soon! PS. As suggested here, a thorough hormone check could be a good idea, both for female hormone levels and the thyroid. -
@@rebecca wills I also have Graves Disease, had it most of my life, but only got formally diagnosed last year. It kept me slim till last 2 years 2014-2016 where I gained 41 kg (90.2 Ibs) !!! I had to have my thyroid destroyed and stabilised prior my VSG, so I finally was sleeved in March 2016, instead of July 2015 ... Auto-immune diseases, hormonal dysfunctions, they all can play havoc with the body/brain/mind and emotions. I am close to 3 months post op, have lost fair bit of weight, still suffering with thyroid issues, as the more weight I lose, the more hyper-thyroid I get, and my Thyroxine dose needs constant monitoring and adjusting. I am afraid that the Ghrelin will come back, after 6 months or so, don't know how this whole journey will pan out. Just trying to do my best one day at a time, and coping with hyper-thyroid symptoms again! The heart ones are the scariest, high blood pressure again and racing pulse, plus rebound insomnia .... As for the hunger and appetite, for now I have lost most of it, and lost my chocolate and sweet cravings. I am very mindful of high Protein diet, fluids, good veggies and vitamins/supplements. As I had such a massive, rapid weight gain in the past 2 years, so far the Sleeve is really helping me. I tried Duromine tablets before, and had to stop as my Graves could not cope with the speed/amphetamine type drugs. I wish you all the best, rebecca! Providing your labs (thyroid) are OK, the surgery should help. You're welcome to PM me. Margo
