    Sweats after eating

@@dede_mont Wow, sorry to hear you were admitted to the hospital, but I am glad you got treatment, and are feeling better and no more dehydrated! Great to hear you are drinking lots of Water now. I myself can now chug large amounts of water at a time. So, stay well
  3. Yes, the bariatric BN Multi were great. Now, with my regular multi-vit, if I cut it in half, and take it twice a day, I am fine. Just can't take the whole one yet, even 5 months post op.
  4. @@mommafranz I too had a drink with a straw served while still in hospital. No issues then or now. I often drink with a straw, I make a tight seal with my mouth, and it is fine. My NUT said that straw was OK for me
  5. NSAIDs have to be taken with food, to reduce the risk of developing ulcers. Just wonder if Panadeine Forte (Codeine Phosphate) may help your period pains? Here in Australia, we can get the weaker version OTC, and the stronger one with a script from a doctor. I use them for my auto-immune thyroid headaches. Good luck!
  6. Why no Vitamin e or fish oil? Because they also thin the blood out, so as a precaution, for any type of surgery, they need to be stopped for 2 weeks pre op, and with WLS for 4 weeks post op, to reduce any chance of post op bleeding or haemorrhage.
  7. @@KristenLe Pre op I was taking a strong Multivitamin with no problems. Post op for the first 3 months I was taking chewable BN Multi plus B12 spray. A month or so ago, I went back to my regular multivitamin, and now it is often making me nauseous. I have to cut it in half now, and take it morning and evening. The baby stomach still can't handle certain foods or supplements ....
  8. @@kaytopaz Not sure when in July you had your op, early or late July. In my opinion you are still healing from this major surgery, hence not being able to eat much due to the post op swelling. Do you have a NUT? Can you talk with them, especially since your surgeon seems dismissive about your challenges. Good luck and heal up well!
  9. @@finding_onederland I had a small hiatus hernia over 20 years ago. I was most surprised after my pre op endoscopy, that it was gone! It fixed itself, amazing. As to reflux, I had a bit of intermittent reflux in the past couple of years, I put it down to my big weight gain, and eating lot of chocolates. I was given pantoprazole that I took for 2-3 weeks, and was good afterward. Post op, gastric sleeve however, I was horrified by the strong reflux I had, even while on rabeprazole. Every day I was uncomfortable or in pain during my nightly reflux foaming and frothing attacks. I also noticed that at every food phase change, reflux was bad again, even with me eating the correct food, eating slowly and chewing lots. So for me, Nexium was heaven sent. It fixed my reflux, and from then on I was fine. Good luck to you.

    Vitamins!

    Welcome, and Good Luck!
  12. Welcome! Hope you feel better soon. I am now trying to slowly wean myself of Nexium, 4 months of taking it and being helped by it. I used to think that I will have reflux issues for life, and now I am good. Reflux can be so bad with nasty complications later, so it needs to be taken care of. Please let us know how you go with your appointment and what script you get. No more burning "foamies" !
  13. Yes, this happened to me earlier on, and each episode was very painful and scary. Waking up at 3 am, coughing up and choking on acid. I was scared that if I inhale it, I would end up with aspiration pneumonia. It was very painful too, the awful burn. I elevated my pillows, and both pantoprazole and rabeprazole did not work for me, even when I switched to taking them at night. I was told by other Aussie sleevers that Nexium/Esomeprazole worked for them and the other ones didn't work. So I asked my surgeon for Nexium 40mg script, which he wrote with a repeat. And this med worked wonders for me. I never had the horrible early morning/night episodes again, and I was good during the day also. Nexium apparently is longer lasting, and I guess it is not prescribed early post op, as the size of a tablet is quite large. Because I was a month post op then, I had no issues with swallowing large tablets. So for me, Nexium was a life saver, as I was quite miserable with reflux before taking it. Good luck, hope you get a new script and a new med that works for you.

    Shaking hands?

@@deannaL72 Possible hypoglycaemia-low blood sugar level, may need more Proteins. Or, yes, could be dehydration also. I had it 10-14 days post op, started feeling dizzy and faint, cold sweats, my skin turned grey and I was quite shaky. I just made it to my appointment (happened while I was driving), looked like I was going to collapse .... Luckily, the nurse on duty recognised that I was dehydrated, and gave me Hydralyte (electrolyte drink) to drink, and 15 mins later, I was fine. I became very mindful of my Fluid intake, after this scary episode, and also bought Hydralyte for emergencies. Happy to say, it hasn't happened since. And also, I am mindful of my Protein intake. Good luck!
  15. I had to take my thyroid med and the gastric acid reducer on my first day post op. Both were small pills, and I did not have any issues with them, just on liquids, or further down the track. I also asked for Codeine Phosphate for pain, these were lot larger tablets, and had to be crushed by the nurse. I had no problems with those either.
  16. My body can't handle certain carbs 5 months post. As I hate feeling ill, if I have a bad reaction to a certain food, I know I have to avoid it. I forgot to add that Refried Beans are another source of Proteins, but not everyone can eat it. I love the taste, but it gives me wind afterwards ..... Great that you'll stay away from noodles, and definitely no chips. Great that you like cheese! Just healthy proteins, and you will be amazed how much better you will feel, and the weight-loss will be better too
  17. I am surprised that you are eating noodles, this early post op. The post op emphasis is on good quality Proteins, and not carbs that can bloat you up and make you feel sick. Your body is clearly showing that it can't handle noodles. Got to listen to your body, as it will react to foods it can't tolerate or digest. How about soft, poached salmon with cheese sauce, Chobani yoghurt with Protein powder, a soft boiled egg, chicken mince with cheese sauce, cream cheese, soft veggies like zucchinis in small amounts. I used to stew apples to add into my yoghurt. There are many good proteins to have, instead of carbs that not only will stall your weight-loss, but make you ill as well. Good luck, I hope you can start eating soft/moist proteins and feel much better!

    Vitamins!

For me, chewable BN Multi and Optifast were recommended,as well as vit. B12 spray. I tolerated them well, and I over-stocked on Optifast shakes, and now still have 2 boxes sitting in my pantry ....
  19. @@mlgok What does your surgeon recommend? I was told no anti-inflammatories, aspirin, vit E, fish oil for 30 days post. After 30 days I was allowed to take these blood thinning pain killers or supplements. Check with your surgeon, you maybe OK to take them now, as you are about 3 months post op.
  20. I stayed away from red meat for 8 weeks, and even at 10 weeks I had dumping after beef mince. I only ate chicken mince and poached salmon, plus Chobani yoghurt with Protein powder. My nausea was intermittent, mainly after heavier to digest foods, or if I ate wrong foods, such as baked goods or chocolate. So, I don't touch that stuff anymore. I am 5 months post op, and I am still scared to eat beef. Later on I experimented with lamb mince and veal mince, with plenty of sauce, and I was OK. Can you tolerate yoghurt with Protein Powder? Can you tolerate minced chicken and poached fish, with some cheese sauce in them, to make them moist? Do you see a NUT? They can help with food adjustments. I became moderately lactose intolerant post op, so I switched to lactose free milk. Yoghurt, cream and cottage cheese are OK with me. Good luck, I hope your nausea goes away soon.
  21. I had to take Rabeprazole and my thyroid med, the day after my op. Both are small tablets and slippery, so I just took them with bit of Water, and I was fine. A month later I had to switch to Nexium 40mg, now these large, really large tablets. However by then, I could swallow them with no issues. Good Luck!

    Goal weight

@@rydersmama Awesome weight-loss. Congratulations! I am also 5'5, and reached my surgeon's success goal weight of 162 Ibs yesterday. Well, I want to go lower, as I still look bit overweight. My personal revised goal weight would be 143 Ibs, and my stretch goal would be 132 Ibs. So, I am still plodding along, and hoping that with sticking to my food plan, I will lose more. I have a longer journey to maintenance, but as mentioned in other posts, it is best to lose as much as I can now, before it gets tougher, or re-gain happens. Good luck to you
  23. @@JJCool Yes, acid can mimic hunger. I had to change scripts, as my reflux was quite bad post op. I was put on Rabeprazole, but it did not help. Nexium was suggested to me, from my OZ sleeve forum. So my surgeon gave me script for Nexium 40mg, and this worked! Nexium is quite long lasting, and it successfully removed all my acid issues. I am now trying to wean myself of it, very gradually. Hope the new script works for you, as at 7 weeks out, with more normal diet with enough Proteins my hunger was completely gone. I only felt hungry if I went over 4 hrs without eating. Now I can go for many hrs, and I don't feel hungry. Anyway, good luck with everything. I'm off to bed, time to catch few zzzzzz
