NEW WEIGHT LOSS MIRACLE DRINK DISCOVERED (Not An Ad)
OzRoo replied to 4MRB4PHOTO's topic in The Lounge
LOL, this was my father's answer years ago when we had 2 Water scares in Sydney, and it ruined 2 of my new water filters. Dad said: "Ah, don't worry, just drink Vodka, it will kill all the germs" ...... I answered him that I will keep boiling the water, but thanks for the advice Today I am so happy that I can guzzle water again! -

@@Alex Brecher Can this thread be moved to Gastric Sleeve Surgery Complications Support Group ? I think it belongs there.Thank you. -
If I don't eat veggies and fruit, I get too constipated. I love zucchini, cauliflower, broccoli, brussel sprouts and at times bit of coleslaw. I eat also a 1/4 of apple, and melons and berries. Still mainly Protein meals with a small serve of veggies. I add grated apple to my yoghurt, and have melons and berries for dessert.

Some depression meds can take 4-6 weeks to really start making a difference. Glad you are hanging on and trying. Hopefully it will lift soon. My best wishes to you @@nprcowboy

OK, the last stage where more solids are introduced. As I mentioned earlier, try adding sauces, yoghurt, stock to food. I mainly ate minces, such as chicken/turkey/veal mince with cheese sauce or another Protein type sauce, so the food was moist. Anything too dry used to get stuck. At times I would take a tiny sip of Water of tea, just a tiny one. Chewed like mad, and ate very slowly as I had reflux if I didn't do that. I also dumped after beef mince, so I stayed away from it. I still eat very moist food at close to 6 months post op. Good luck!

Moved up a stage early by Doc. Question
OzRoo replied to LoveAlwaysKia's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I certainly wouldn't know and could not give you medical advice. It is a bummer you can't reach your doctor/nut over the weekend. If it was me, I would wait until Monday and call them. The healing stomach needs lots of TLC and being careful with it. As I had personally few issues at every food stage change, I err on the side of caution. Good luck. -
How often do you weigh yourself?
OzRoo replied to spunkyheather's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Weekly weigh-ins for me. I think daily would mess with my head too much and could be possibly de-motivating for me. -
@@russtee I don't know what food stage you are currently on, but for me, anything that was too dry had that effect. So, runny purees, then soft food with lots of sauces or stock. Just moist food. I reacted badly to a too dry scrambled egg, got stuck in the middle of my oesophagus, got horrible burning, and then had to run to the bathroom. Other drier foods used to give me reflux, so even now I make sure my food is moist. And as others said, small bites and chew well. Good luck.

What about WLS Weighs You Down?
OzRoo replied to Alex Brecher's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
The loud gurgling noises my stomach makes after a meal, especially when in company, and the burps I never had when pre op, but now are frequent companion. I am almost 6 months post op and hoping this will settle down ...... Funny though, after yoghurt Breakfast I don't have all these noises, only after a heavier Protein meal, like chicken, turkey or veal for dinner, even fish ..... I eat slowly, chew well, don't drink with meals (30 and 30 min rule) and it doesn't help. Don't like sounding like a burping, gurgling bath tub! -

Moved up a stage early by Doc. Question
OzRoo replied to LoveAlwaysKia's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Best to ask your doctor/nut. I had to see my nut at every food stage change. For me it was every 2 weeks. It may also depend how well/not well you tolerate each stage. Listen to your body and observe how you are doing, any extra noises, any reflux or indigestion, what really agrees with you, are you hungry, etc Then you can discuss it with your nut. Good luck. -
@@madadams You look fabulous! Well done Yes, 6 months really shows the results. I myself have about 10 days to my 6 month surgiversary, and I love the changes too. It works, and it is worth it!

I eat Chobani Greek low fat yoghurt with added Protein powder, this gives me 33g of Proteins for Breakfast. I also add grated 1/4 apple to it, bit of cinnamon and vanilla essence. It tastes great and I love it. I used to have Vaalia natural yoghurt prior my op, but Chobani yoghurt has tripple amount of protein, so I switched.

I had to switch to Nexium from rabeprazole. My reflux was really bad. Nexium really worked for me, and now 5 months later I am slowly weaning myself of it, and so far I have been fine. I am now taking it every 3 days, then 4 etc I will still refill my scripts, and keep it for emergencies. Good luck!

It is easy for me now. I can now guzzle water, drink large quantities of liquids, close to 6 months post op. Earlier on I wasn't able to, now I can.
-
I drink 2 large cups of brewed coffee, then later on I switch to decaf. So about 4-6 cups all up. I weaned myself of Equal, as it was creating sugar cravings for me and messing with my blood sugar levels. I use Stevia now, and add milk to my coffees.

@@Nadi884 I had it really bad post op, even woke up few times coughing up and choking on burning acid. The initial med, rabeprazole did not help. For me, I also had bad acid attacks at every food phase change, even though I was eating/drinking/chewing slowly. Nexium was the only PPI that helped me, and got rid of acid. Now, 5 months later, I am slowly weaning myself of Nexium, and so far no acid reflux. Good luck to you! You just maybe the lucky one who does not get it post op.

@@judy vsg Yes, being hyper kept my weight off for most of my life, but it turned 2 years ago, while still hyper and I had a massive, rapid weight gain. I became one of those 5% hyperthyroid sufferers that gained weight! I did not like my shaking hands, the sweats and feeling hot all the time, the irritability, racing pulse, high blood pressure, horrible headaches, muscle spasms, the runs and insomnia. Now, with treatment most of those symptoms disappeared, except insomnia and feeling hot on and off. Thank you for your well wishes. -

@@ajg91342 At first, I took it every 1.5 days, as at 2 days first time I had very mild bit of reflux. Did that for nearly a week. Then I took it every 2 days, and I was fine. Now I am trialling every 3 days. So far I am OK. No reflux. If all OK, I will then take it every 4th day, then 5th etc, then 6th, then a week later. I was advised by a member on another forum to do it very slowly, so I am copying her method and watching for any reactions. I will still refill my script and keep it for any emergencies. Good luck! -
Completely Undecided.

Snack Time! Ideas for Food on the Go!
OzRoo replied to NeedaBreak4Me's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I use Cruskits with cream and cottage cheese, sometimes add smoked or tinned salmon to them as well. They keep me going for hours. If I have to go somewhere, I have a tiny esky, I put the cheese/salmon mix in it and few Cruskits, plus knife to spread it. Keeps fresh for hours. -
