Very welcome, and thank you! Happy to offer support, anytime Yes, the med levels can be a pain ..... For me, since my surgery, I have been needing less and less Thyroxine. I am waiting to get to my goal, and maintenance, so my Thyroxine level should finally stabilise. I wish you good result from your next blood test. You too may need less of your med, further down post op. Many Thyroid sleevers had their doses reduced, after weight-loss. Are you in Australia as well? If yes, what state and city? Cheers

@@ovaw8ovathinka Type "Thyroid" in the Search button. There are quite few threads on this topic. I have Graves Disease, and even though it helped me to be slim all my life, 2 years ago it turned, and I gained 41kg from 2014-2016 I had to have Radioactive Iodine done and stabilise my thyroid pre-op. This took 9 months, and I finally got sleeved early March this year (instead of July 2015). After RAI, it took 4 months for my thyroid to stop functioning, and I started on Thyroxine 100 mcg January 2016. With continuous weight-loss, the dose got too strong, and I went hyper again. My Thyroxine dose is now halved, at 50 mcg. Also, I was told that at 74 kg I would be deemed a success. Well, I am now 70 kg, and still losing. I plan to get back to 60 kg. I am 6 months post op, lost 30 kg so far, even though I was lower BMI with thyroid disease. I am 165 cm in height. At 101 kg I was obese. Now, I look more like myself again! I am also in my 50s, post menopause (had an earlier one), and had no issues with losing weight. I maybe losing slower than some, but at least I did not lose any hair, and have very little loose skin. Some Surgeons deem a patient success at 60-65 % weight-loss. Many sleevers lose lot more. Good luck!

Sleeved 6/29/16 and Im only 45lbs down
OzRoo replied to keyyzzVSG36's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
@@keyyzzVSG36 45 Ib in under 3 months is a great loss! And stalls will keep happening, they are a normal part of the weigh-loss journey. I am 6 months post op, and I lost 66 Ib, and I am very happy with this. My last stall lasted almost 4 weeks. I am lower BMI, and I am happy with my weight-loss. I don't have much loose skin, only in my upper arms. And I am 22 Ib away from my stretch goal. Be grateful for your weight-loss. You are losing at a good rate for you -
I Am Thankful For My Stall
OzRoo replied to Inner Surfer Girl's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Yes, the stalls come and they go away in their own time .... I've had 4-5 stalls by now, and then I lost more weight, again I too was worried when the first one happened, and this thread and the "Embrace the Stall" thread really helped me. Inner Surfer Girl explains it so well. I am thankful for both threads. -
I THOUGHT I was sleeved...
OzRoo replied to leebick's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
@@leebick So glad you had the sleeve done, as you wanted. Yes, I can only imagine how stressful this whole situation was for you. Glad you took your legal friend with you. Rest up well, get better, take your pain pills and have a good recovery. Thank you for the update! Best wishes to you. -
Stuck at 185 for over two weeks
OzRoo replied to sondra2368's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Stalls are a normal part of recovery and weight-loss. I have had 4 or 5 by now. I am 6 months post op. My last one was nearly 4 weeks long. Body does its own thing in its own time ...... I've learnt to be patient, and I don't weigh myself much during the stalls. Stalls will pass -
Woohoo! Lovely shoes Congrats!

Going for surgery in one day....nervous and worried.
OzRoo replied to mopardad03's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
You won't know how your body will react until after you have your surgery. I was hungry for the 1st 2 weeks post op, when I was on liquid phase. Got better on purees, then much better on Soft/Mushy phase. I also had bad reflux, and had to get a stronger med, this was making me feel more hungry before I swapped to Nexium. The horror stories are a small percentage and I would not focus on them. Everyone's journey is individual. Why not read Success stories instead, and focus on them. Good luck and I hope you have smooth surgery and recovery! -
It is normal to be scared and afraid of this surgery. It is a major surgery and life changing one. I was in constant fear for a week pre-op. Then the day came, I was given a nice relaxing cocktail of drugs, fell asleep, then had my op, and I was fine. Just bit of pain. As gina mentioned, maybe you can get something for your nerves. Or have a massage, meditate etc Good luck!

How have your taste buds changed?
OzRoo replied to Leather'nLace's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I have gone off: chocolate, beef and eggs, mainly due to bad reactions to them. I also have gone off Pasta, bread, rice, just don't need them. For few months post op I loved my brewed black tea, now I am back on green tea. I wish I could hate ice-cream ...... oh well, at least it is a monthly treat now Early post op I craved tomato and V8 juice, now I haven't touched them in months. I used to hate Stevia pre-op, now I love it, and stopped using Equal months ago. -
Is it true what I hear ?
OzRoo replied to bellabeans's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes, for me 2 things helped to finally not feel hungry: 1. a new PPI (Nexium) as my reflux was really bad 2. Going onto Soft/Mushy and then Solids phase. I also lost my appetite for few months ..... just wasn't hungry, but it is slowly coming back after 6 months. I am still measuring my portions. I can now guzzle Water too. And my reflux is gone, so I am off Nexium now. -

Tracking Food - My Fitness Pal?
OzRoo replied to Heatgirl03's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
@@Heatgirl03 I use the Free version. There is a Premium version that is not free, but the Free version is great! My dietician wrote out the calories, and % of Protein, carbs and fats, tailored for me. I then entered these numbers into "My Goals", and this will give you the daily grams allowed. You find "My Goals" in the "My Home" section. You can also make your food diary public or private. It takes a while to set it up, mainly entering different foods, but once you have your regular food in the system, it is much easier. Then you only add any new food, and with any food change amounts, if you have less or more of it. Yes, it is a great tracker! -

3 months post-op and having trouble with meat :(
OzRoo replied to ShelterDog64's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
@@ShelterDog64 I had issues with beef around the same time. Even though it was minced and with sauce, I ate it slowly and chewed well .... still dumped it straight away. I haven't touched it since. I was fine however with minced veal and minced lamb ..... Beef apparently is hard to digest, and many sleevers have issues with it. -
