    PCP anti wls

I was fortunate that my PCP, pain management, neurologist, and endocrinologist were all supportive of my decision. Even though I did not require their approval, it was great to have their support. Sent from my XT1096 using the BariatricPal App

    Really Regretting it.

@@rfox77 What a difference 40# makes. I did not do any pre-surgery photos or measurements or any along the way to goal. I am very sorry I did not do this, but I have saved a few outfits so that is something. I am four years out and 125# lost. I did regain 35# last year due to medical issues, medications, and slacking off on logging my foods. Took about 6 months but I am now back at goal and faithfully logging my foods. Best wishes on your journey. Sent from my XT1096 using the BariatricPal App

    Really Regretting it.

LOL, I'm grinning while reading this because you sound so much like me. I felt like I was going to die when I first woke up, too. There was a bubble trapped inside my esophagus and I woke up and said, "Uhhhh I can't breathe..." in the most whiny tone. Bleh, I never whine, but I was scared and vulnerable. Also, when I first got to have tomato soup, it was like eating a high quality steak, lmao!My first broth was tastier than any steak I've ever tasted. Guess that's something most of us remember is our first liquid and real meal. Sent from my XT1096 using the BariatricPal App

    Surgery tomorrow..

Nerves and fear of the unknown are very real but normal. It is difficult to have patience during the process. Just know you always have support here and most of us are so glad we made the journey. I am 4 years out and 125# lost. Sent from my XT1096 using the BariatricPal App

  8. They are swimming..dad us okay just lots of standing river Water in road. That is pretty normal for the area..draining design and tree debris don't help much. Sent from my XT1096 using the BariatricPal App
  9. You don't have to experience pain and you don't have to finish your plate. EVER. The responses you receive suggested going slower and taking smaller bites/spoonfuls. Try it. Don't panic.I have difficulties eating slower and frequently pay for my hastiness. Sent from my XT1096 using the BariatricPal App

    Oranges 1 month pre-op

I had a couple of orange slices at 3 months out and barely made it home before getting sick. At now 4 years out I can eat an entire small tangerine but oranges and OJ still give me a problem. Sent from my XT1096 using the BariatricPal App

Did you sweat less after surgery?

I am colder most of the time and do not go out without a long sleeved jacket. I am four years post surgery and have been this way since about four months. Sent from my XT1096 using the BariatricPal App

    Any Long-Timers here

I am 4 years out from sleeve surgery and 125# weight loss. Due to a medical problem, I was bedridden for about a year and gained 35#. Took 8 months to lose the weight, but I am now back below goal. Absolutely no regrets.

Some foods have strange tastes and smells

My sense of smell was extremely heightened for about 4 weeks after surgery and most made me nauseous. I compared it to first being pregnant. All returned to normal after about a month, but my tastes changed from before surgery. Sent from my XT1096 using the BariatricPal App

Ok so how bad is this gonna hurt?

I have had many surgeries and this was one of the easier recoveries for me. I had bad gas pains in my shoulder for a few days, but once that dissipated I felt only discomfort. To me if a wisdom tooth was a 10, this was a 4.

First night banded... 14 hours in.

As has been said, walk. A heating pad was soothing to me as well as gasX strips (but check with your medical team first). I had very little pain except for the trapped gas in my shoulder. Don't be nervous or scared. This is a process no matter what type of Bariatric surgery you have. Best wishes on a speedy recovery. Sent from my XT1096 using the BariatricPal App

    Accountability

As Djmohr stated I would be glad to provide support and accountability. Please PM me with a few more details..date and type of surgery, is there anything specific you are struggling with (weight gain, no weight loss, lack of protein, etc.) I am a 4 year veteran of the sleeve and have lost and maintained a 125# loss. Aug 1st is the day

My incisions were not painful, but I had a difficult time the first week with gas pains and nausea. Each day was better. Now 4 years out and every bit of discomfort worthwhile. It is not easy, especially in the beginning but form good habits early and they will stay with you. Sent from my XT1096 using the BariatricPal App

What I wish I had known...

What I wish I had known...

@@dnlnext I am 4 years out from sleeve surgery. Had a great surgical team, but moved cross country to a very small remote town. I was on my own and relied a lot on this site. You can do it, but it takes a LOT of willpower and being self-sufficient. We have moved back again, and I am seeing a Bariatric doctor again this week. My primary doctor always ran my Bariatric labs and they were good. It was difficult but you can do it. PM me with any questions or concerns. Sent from my XT1096 using the BariatricPal App
  21. @@Ruby1, I have lost 125# and moved cross country shortly after my surgery. Fluids are the most important early on. It is natural to have nerves and be scared, but you will be so happy that you made this decision. Best wishes on your journey. Feel free to PM for any questions or support. 22. I was 58 when I had my sleeve surgery 4 years ago. Those first couple of weeks are rough on everyone but it gets SO much better. I am at goal and loving my healthier lifestyle. I am not sure that older means slower healing. Everyone is different and progresses at their own pace. Just remember you are an individual and do not compare yourself to others. Follow your doctor's plan and you will do fine. My only regret, like many others, is I did not do it sooner. Sent from my XT1096 using the BariatricPal App
