    Hello from the other side..

Once they had all of my paperwork it took about 10-14 business days. Every insurance company is different though. They had a time limit to respond. Also once I got the green light from my insurance, I was able to schedule my surgery for about 10 days later. I just ran into some problems and had to bump the sleeve back. I feel like once your paperwork is all submitted it goes by so fast. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Hello from the other side..

Moving around really does help this pain. I just had my gallbladder out 3 weeks ago and didn't experience it. I anticipated having this type of pain based on the nature of the surgery. I'm at home now and feeling pretty darn good. Thank you for your well wishes! Laceemouse: when do you have your surgery? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    My Story

As far as Protein shakes go I suggest shakes from https://pescience.com/ If you use the code HANA you get 20% off of your order. The shakes taste amazing and have 27G of protein per shake. I love the peanutbutter cup and the Cookies and cream. These will change your opinion of protein shakes. As far as protein Water goes my NUT said not to use those as a source of protein. I guess they are collagen protein and are good for hair and nails. They do not have the right type of protein to build and maintain muscle. I'm just going off what they have told me. I absolutely love my protein shakes and look forward to drinking them. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  8. As far as Vitamins you can order liquid vitamins on Amazon or check you local health food store. They do not taste great but they should be easy on the stomach. My surgeon has a strict no pill rule that we must follow for 6 weeks post op. I've researched the liquid forms and from what I gather they absorb better then the pills. Getting sleeved tomorrow

Good luck! Everything will be just fine. You are on the cusp of the new you. Please keep us updated!! I have 10 days and I can't wait. I understand being nervous. It's a huge life change! Keep us updated. Sending you positive vibes! I love the phone comment. I am having mine do the same. No pain med induced texting if someone has your phone. I know how I get when I've had a few. I can't imagine what I'd be like on strong pain meds.. It's for my own good! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  10. Congratulations on getting your date!! It's so exciting but waiting is excruciating. I was supposed to be sleeved last week but had to have my gallbladder out. He was going to do both if it was safe at the time. I was bummed it didn't happen, but I completely understand. I was mentally ready for it. Now I'm just biding my time healing up for round two in the OR. High Protein low carb seems to be the way to go once you are healed. Also lots of exercise. I'm rearranging local personal trainers and hoping to have one by Christmas. I'm ready to rock this! We will have to be surgery buddies! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Newbie Here! My story so far...

Does your surgeon have a medical doctor that will be seeing you during the process? Mine did and I quickly made her my primary. I figured since she was following my through this and would know my inside and out it made sense. Plus you will have a PCP that understands bariatric patients and their needs. I hope all works out with your labs. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  12. I'm sorry you don't get to have the surgery you originally chose. There is a lot of success with the sleeve also. I have two coworkers that have had it and have had amazing results. I get sleeved 9/6 and can't wait! I hope you get your surgery date soon. Keep us updated! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  13. Hello! I know I should ask my surgeon, but my preop meeting with him isn't for two more weeks. I'd hate to bother him with this now. I had to have my gallbladder out 5 days ago and I'm getting antsy just sitting around. The lap sites are similar to the ones for the sleeve. I'm curious about what our limitations are as far as weights go. Is it ok to use small 3 lb weights while walking or just sitting and watching tv to help get a head start on working my arms out? 15. Hello! I have been ghosting on the forum for a while now, and feel the need to reach out. I was supposed to be sleeved with gallbladder removal on 8/16, but my body had other plans. Around 1 am Saturday 8/13 I began to have excruciating pain in my RUQ. It was so horrible I woke my parents up to come and pick me up( I live 30 minutes from them) to drive me the 30 minutes to the hospital I was to have surgery at. I am an ICU RN at the hospital and absolutely did not want to be admitted. I spent the 30 Minute drive in the most intense pain I have ever felt. Once at the ER they gave me pain meds and an ultrasound. The ER was going to send me home because my ultrasound didn't show any acute disease. Mind you my pain level was never decreased no matter what pain meds they gave me. They called my surgeon and he came in to see me. He wasn't buying that I was alright and admitted me for observation and bumped my surgery up to Monday. Two days of being NPO, IV antibiotics, fluids and constant visits from coworkers and friends later I was ready to go to the OR. Prior to surgery my surgeon explained he was going to take my gallbladder first then proceed to the sleeve if it was safe to do so. Upon waking up post op I was told he was unable to perform the sleeve. I was of course disappointed, but understanding. My gallbladder had died and was necrotic. He had to keep suturing it to keep it from breaking apart. I am truly blessed I had such a talented and proactive surgeon. I feel if he would have let me go home and did not give me antibiotics and have me rest my gut I would be in serious trouble. Here I am going on my third day post op feeling pretty good. My pain is managed, and I'm trying to stay positive. My surgeon's secretary called and we scheduled the sleeve for 9/6/16. I know this will be a long road. It's an extra three weeks off of work which might sound great to most but I love my job so I'm Bummed to be away for so long. I'm very nervous my recovery from the sleeve will be more complicated because it will be my second surgery in 4 weeks. Has anyone else experienced anything similar? I felt like I should share my story because I really feel like fate stepped in to ensure I have the healthiest recovery possible. Who knows what would have happened if he had sleeved me then went to preform my gallbladder removal and found the hot mess that was my gallbladder. In the grand scheme of things three weeks is not long to wait at all! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
