Hello all, I wanted to make a separate thread for all of the September sleevers to post updates and share tips. Of course any and everybody is welcome! I am 13 days post op and feeling great. Still on liquids, so my diet is mostly Water and Protein shakes. I'm not feeling hungry at all, and "head hunger" only lasted a few days. Tonight was the first night I have seen my close friends since surgery and everyone was betting on how much I've lost. It made me feel good and gave me a spring in my step. I haven't weighed myself and I'm waiting to see how much I've lost since surgery for my first post op visit on Monday. I can't wait to see who was closest. The only downside is I've developed a cold. It's irritating but I'm managing. All of the coughing has me a little concerned that I will pop a staple or something. I spoke to my surgeons PA and she was not concerned about that occurring. I'm on the upswing and expect the cold to be out of my system in a day or so. How is everyone else doing? I hope everyone is healing and resting. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Congratulations!! It's amazing how life changing this is for all of us. The skinny comments are overwhelming. I had to buy new clothes a couple of times since surgery. I'm swimming in my old stuff. As for the pork comment. I was given a restriction on pork and beef until 4 months post op. They told us it's harder to digest. It sucks because I'm so sick of poultry. I'm dying for chorizo. I'm glad to hear you are doing well! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

I finally had my surgery after a minor setback involving a necrotic gallbladder two days before my scheduled surgery date. I am day two post op and preparing to go home later this evening. The hardest party as been the gas pains and gurgling in my esophagus and stomach. I was informed this is normal and its hair trying to escape the small space that is my new stomach. I have been very sleeping today since I have pushed myself to walk more then required. It honestly feels better to get up and moving. I know this is going to be a long road to recovery( 6 weeks off work at minimum). Any other September sleeves out there that want to start a group? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Help with protein powder choices?
Smashley23 replied to Shauny85's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
I love the Protein powder from PEscience.com ! They taste amazing and they are low calorie. They even have a cafe line if you are a coffee person. I am obsessed with the peanutbutter cup! If you use the promo code HANA you get 20% off. They were recommended by a coworker who is working toward a goal of a swimsuit competition, and her trainer recommended them. They are by far the best powders I have ever tasted. They also give you lots of free samples with your order. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
What brand are you using? I would suggest ones from PEscience.com , and if you use the code HANA you get 20% off. They are amazing and even have a new cafe line if you like coffee. I would recommend the chocolate cupcake or cookies and cream. I'm using the peanut butter cup now and it tastes like a Reese's. Another tip is to put them in the freezer after mixing for like 15-30 minutes. I don't know why but it changes the flavor and texture somewhat. I had to do that with a brand I did not like. I feel the same way. It is so weird. The only thing i really enjoy is Water. I've always been a water drinker so that's not any different. I did just have some plain ff Greek yogurt with a tbs of PB2 and that was Ok. I just don't know how to get the calories in. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Is anyone else having issues with taste? Nothing tastes good to me at all. It's to the point where I don't even want food at all. I'm only on puréed but I have no desire to eat. I made the ricotta bake today and I was excited to try it. It was just ok. I know I'm not getting enough calories in. I'm averaging around 500 per day. I don't want it to stall my weight loss. Any suggestion? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

I hear everyone is different. I only expected to be out of work a week. I teach at a university and figured that I could hang for a few classes a day. I couldn't do it. Even though I constantly kept hydrated I was feeling faint walking across campus. My dr advised to to take another week. I sort of listened to him. I stayed out 4 more days. Today was my first day back. And it was a much better experience. I did have to mix some G2 with Water (Dr's orders) and I made it through the entire day with energy to spare. Hopefully one week will be all you need, but prepare for two so you won't be too disappointed. Best of luck!!! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App I wish I could go back to work. My surgeon refuses to clear me for work until 6 weeks and one day! I'm an ICU nurse and we do a lot of heavy lifting. There is no light duty. I'm going stir crazy. Lol. I hope you are feeling better! Last day of liquid diet, surgery tomorrow!
Smashley23 replied to Butch Luce's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I'm glad to hear you are doing well! Keep on sipping those fluids and moving around as much as possible. You are doing great. You will be tired a lot, so let yourself rest. I napped a lot the first two weeks. sleep is good for healing. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
It sounds like you are having great results! I know it's hard but, worth it. Just remember eating foods not on your diet can hurt your new stomach. I've been craving salad of all things. I'm convinced my surgeon played some kind of subliminal messages while I was under. I feel like I need to increase my calories because I'm barely hitting 400 per day. I'm only having Water and Protein shakes. I think if I bump it up I will loose more. I'm moving on to puréed and in the transition phase. I bought pumpkin pie Greek yogurt and thinned it out. It was wonderful! Lol. Just remember it's only temporary. Those carbs will be there when you are at goal. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Last day of liquid diet, surgery tomorrow!

Butch! I'm so glad your surgery went well. Did they end up discharging you to home? I hope you are still feeling well. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
I was sleeved on 9/14/16 and I'm in a lot of pain too. My belly is very sore. Sent from my SM-G900V using the BariatricPal App I had pain pretty regularly for the first week at least. I made sure I took my pain meds to sleep and it seemed to help. Is it your incisions or just your belly in general? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Hmm.. soup is a good idea. It's hard especially this early in the game since we are so restricted. Will you still be on clears? Maybe just sip tea and tell her you don't feel well because of nerves. If your diet allows the eggs I would just go for it. It's so weird how every surgeon has a different diet to follow. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

I have been craving salad also! Do you feel like your tastes have changed at all? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Sounds like you are doing well. It took me about 4 days to be able to get a whole shake down in a reasonable time. I started pouring 4 oz into a cup and keeping the rest cold and drinking that every few hours. Now I can tolerate two in one day. I think 14 lbs could be some Water weight also. I know I was pumped with IV fluids until i was walking out the door(3days). I have to go buy a scale soon. Any suggestions? I just have avoided it because I didn't want to obsess over not loosing in what I feel like is fast enough during my 6 weeks off work. I can get a bit obsessive.. Having a cold for the first time
Smashley23 replied to Jobey's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I am 11 days post op and have a cold. It's not pneumonia because it's all upper airways that are effected. Still using my IS and walking. It's a Runny nose and cough. I spoke to my surgeons PA yesterday regarding meds I am allowed to take. They Ok'd liquid DayQuil and NyQuil. I'm concerned about coughing and my staples. She didn't seem concerned but has anyone heard of people developing a leak due to coughing? I'm doing everything right and I may be just a little neurotic in thinking I'm going to end up with a leak. Good Luck tomorrow!! I was in your shoes last Tuesday and had a bit of a freak out in the hospital. My surgeon had anesthesia pay me a visit per my request. They gave me some happy juice so my hour wait would be anxiety free. I Will be officially a week post op tomorrow and I am so happy I went through with it. Yes, even though I still have another full week of liquids. I can't wait for you to update us. I'm sending positive vibes your way!! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Hello from the other side..
Smashley23 replied to Smashley23's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
We definitely should start a group. Maybe on Facebook? We can make it private so only we can access it. Would anyone be interested? I might make a thread to see how people feel. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -

Hello from the other side..
Smashley23 replied to Smashley23's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I'm still on liquids and it's been hard getting enough in. I know I'm only 4 days post op so I am still pretty swollen. I feel like the hardest part is I can't tell what my body needs or wants at this time. My sleeve and I need to start communicating better so I know how to take care of it best. I don't know that I feel hungry but have a gurgling sensation from time to time. I do know what full and drank way too fast feels like. Both are not pleasant. How long did it take for some of you to become intune with your body post op? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
