Hi. I am 39 but I guess in December I will have to start/join a fourtysomething thread. :cry: I am six months out from surgery. I have the smallest sized band and have not needed a fill yet. I still PB way too easily no matter how well I chew. I have lost 65 pounds since surgery.

What you want to get is Promethazine HCL suppositiries because if you do get some bad Water or something that makes you throw up then you will just throw the pill up too. However, a anti-naseau pill would be good pre-flight or ride if you suffer from motion sickness. Have fun! Serena

Based on current tax law they can be deducted as long as the surgery is medically necessary. It doesn't matter whether you had the surgery in the US or went elsewhere for it. I deducted mine along with all other medical expenses last year that weren't already covered by my husband's reimburesment account plan (medical savings account.)

What a coincidence that you bring this up. I just returned from a couple weeks visiting my sister and she put on a bellydancing exercise tape for the first time and we tried to do it. It was hard work but I say we burnt the most calories laughing at each other and ourselves. Serena

I am sure that I will be thin, which I consider to be a size 12 at my height (5'10.5".) However I don't expect to ever have a bikini bod thanks to my years of yo-yoing. The skin on my legs looks like it belongs to a woman 30 or so years older than I am (39) and I know it won't ever look good enough for a bathing suit. So far the surgical procedures for legs aren't all that spectacular. Even the lower body lift can only do so much and the inner thigh lift leaves scars you wouldn't want to show off in a swimsuit so it is better now if I accept that I am just going to have to do my looking "hot" fully clothed. I am a newbie (3 months out) so maybe I shouldn't give advice, however I haven't had a fill yet and I haven't had a single week since surgery without a loss. I am averaging 3 pounds per week weight loss. I eat between 1000 and 1700 calories a day but I do not eat the same amount for more than a couple days in a row. I might eat 1200 for three days, then 1000 for one, then 1700 for two, then 1300 for three, then 1100 for four.... If you eat the same amount of calories every single day it is easier for your body to get in a plateau because the body becomes more efficient at using that number of calories. It is basically the same as the advice not to do the exact same exercise day after day, month after month. Hi, Sunta, I am so glad to read that you are home safe. What helped for me with the gas, in addition to getting up and walking frequently, was to put a vibrating pillow on my very lower abdomen. It really seemed to help move things along. Best of luck with your recovery. Hugs, Serena

I was banded Dec 9th and I still don't need a fill. Yesterday was the first day that I was feeling hungry enough to even consider going in for one. I feel like some kind of weirdo because most everyone seems to say how hungry they are in the beginning. Serena 303.5/266/160

Make sure that you are eating enough during the rest of the day, especially your Protein, so that hunger isn't the reason that you are caving in in the evening. Serena

If I had been willing to fight with them for a year or so, no doubt my insurance would have paid. But I have the money and know a couple of people who went to my surgeon a couple of years ago and are doing great and have had no complications so I read everything I could and chose him. They recommended him to me after I mentioned lapband to them, not knowing at the time that they had even had the surgery. I hope that I don't end up regretting my decision but I think I would most likely feel that way no matter where I had surgery. I had not found or read LBT prior to surgery or I may not have gone there though. I am sure that if the insurance company didn't make it so difficult that I would not have gone to Mexico but they also would have had to be willing to pay for me to travel somewhere else to get surgery because the surgeons around my area have no experience and I personally know two people who have had bad experiences with them here. I just can't seem to get enough of carrots (raw) and beets (cooked). I hardly ever ate them before banding. Serena

I am not sure what your diet is currently but I was having that same problem with exercise until I started eating some Protein about an hour before I work out. It helped a lot and I didn't get that big dip in blood sugar right after exercise. Good luck. Serena

The doctor in Pittsburg that does the total body lift is Dennis J Hurwitz, M.D., F.A.C.S. He wrote a book called Total Body Lift which is very informative. I haven't had the lift yet as I am just starting my weight loss journey but I am already doing all the research I can on this surgery because when I have it I want the best doctor possible.
