Day 3 of liquid diet... seems to be easier today.... or I'm delusional. I'm already tired of sweet stuff. I do really like the no carb Isopure drinks fruity though they maybe. I haven't murdered anyone but I did get a bit cuss-wordy yesterday when a friend snapchatted me some home baked tasty rolls. cuss-wordy is a word right.....

Start my preop liquid diet tomorrow surgery 7/25 at 1030am. I'm so excited I'm not even worried about it. I just can not wait to be on the losers bench and get on with my life. I have been very open about my surgery with my friends and co-workers. When the nay-sayers ask if I'm sure my response is as follows: I have so many things I've put off because of my weight and they are my inspiration whenever I think of how overwhelming this decision and process has been. Yes, its a big change. Yes, its going to be a major adjustment but what I'll get in return will be worth so much more then the slice of cake I couldn't have or the cup of coffee I missed out on. Luckily my friends have been even more supportive then I had imagined them to be and I am very grateful for them and ALL OF YOU!

Apparently my boss decided to have a meeting with my director about my surgery. I was then pulled into his office and told if I insisted on having my surgery on July 25th then he would have to cancel some of my coworkers requests for time off. He was basically trying to coworker quilt me into delaying my surgery. He told me about the long conversation he had with my boss and how it just wasn't the right time for my surgery. He asked me to move it to 8/15. I told him that 8/15 would have been perfectly acceptable when I was trying so hard to work with my boss but that now it was too late. My surgery has been scheduled and my FMLA paperwork had been filed. He had no idea that I had asked my boss for appropriate dates and that I had tried to do what was best for the department. Scheduled my surgery today for July 25th. Told my manager and he started to argue and get angry and then I told him I was approved for FMLA and he just said "OK then." He was really mad. Here's the thing with the 9/12 date. We have a new system going live that month and there is talk of freezing all time off for it. I do not have a date yet but will very soon. I just wanted to have it as soon as possible but was will to do it the first part of August to give them over a months notice but they said no. So now I'm in the mind set that I will have asap regardless. I tried to work with him, kept him updated every step of the process with time lines and test results. He was even angry when I told him I didn't have sleep apnea because he knew it would delay my surgery 6 weeks to show compliance with the cpap. While we do have a union at my hospital we are not union for my profession. I have tried to work with my boss, first asking for good times for three weeks off and when he said that just wasn't possible then I asked him if he had any availability for only two weeks off. The answer was a flat out no. I do qualify for FMLA and while I don't want to "anger the bull." This manager is notorious for trying to keep me from taking any time off at all. Here is my reasoning for this: I work all the areas in my department and I work day shift and afternoon shift. I am known for picking up extra hours whenever they need me too and I do special projects for both my manager and others in my area. I am in great standing as of attendance and my work ethic and it just seems like the punish the good workers and let the lazy ones do whatever they wish. I asked for two weeks off last Feb to go to Ireland and it was a huge fight. In the end they didn't have a reason I couldn't go other then they didn't want me to and our dept director approved it. I gave them over 6 months notice and they still weren't going to let me go. Yet another coworker took two weeks off at Christmas and Noone batted an eye. I want to have this surgery as soon as possible both for my health and so that as soon as I get back on my feet and good and healed I can quit. I have an appointment next week with my surgeon and nutritionist to set a surgery date and talk about pre-op diet. I asked my manager to give me the best calendar dates for surgery in July or early August as a fellow co-worker has vacation in late August that I do not want to cause any issues with it. He said I absolutely couldn't have it until 9/12 at the earliest. I will only be taking two weeks off and he refuses to allow it before that date. Even though there are no scheduled vacations posted during the next two months that would interfere with coverage and people here take two to three week vacation all the time. I get the feeling he does not approve of the surgery and doesn't consider it important.
