I do not know what you read but via Fitbit own website they say to NOT swim with it. It is water and splash resistant only.Read the specs on it. https://www.fitbit.com/chargehr Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G870A using the BariatricPal App

I just bought a Garmin Vivosmart HR today. I researched and researched. I like this one because it tracks heart rate, floors of stairs climbed and is 100% waterproof. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G870A using the BariatricPal App

When we go go Disney we beat them at the food game. We each carry a backpack with a 2 liter camelback Water bladder in it. We also have small kids type collapsable lunch bags with ice packs. We keep string cheese, apple slices, baby carrots as Snacks. For lunchs we will precook grilled chicken or left over steak cut into strips. The only thing fold wise we ever buy in the parks is popcorn or a frozen Mickey ear ice cream bar. Good luck and have fun !!! Oh, at 280 you will fit into pretty much everything. When I was that size years ago... I did. At Universal they have a few "bigger seats" at the back of the more intense roller coasters. Asides from those you'll be fine for everything at Disney. Even Space Mountain. The new 7 Dwarfs Mine Train is supposed to have smaller seats but I can't report on it. Haven't been on that one yet. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G870A using the BariatricPal App

Wound up going to Gordo's and then Lofty Pursuits. Check those two off the food list. I did walk up 10 floors worth of stairs today and down 22 floors. I'm wore out and in bed already! Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G870A using the BariatricPal App

We use the Premier Protien 100% whey in powder form. We get the bags at costco. My wife and I have been having a shake for Breakfast for the last two years. The bag lasts about 2-3 months. That time frame will shrink once I have my surgery but so be it. We mix it with milk amd have found that making them the night before tastes better. I make mine with a scoop and a half, she does one scoop and then a half scoop of Ovaltine. Both chocolate flavored. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G870A using the BariatricPal App

Exercise class kicked my butt hard and now feeling defeated...
SamBwaR3 replied to heidikat72's topic in Fitness & Exercise
Let me ask you this...... before this class this morning when was the last time you exerted yourself ? We are in this together and we are doing this because we are out of shape. Not a single one of us would be here if we had been running marathons, being in the gym everyday or doing laps in a pool all the time. Hell, a few weeks ago we had a fire alarm go off and I had to run up 3 stories to clear the floor that I am responsible for. I WAS OUT OF GAS BY THE SECOND ONE !!! And I felt it in my legs the next day. We are all in this together !! Keep your chin up because you can do THIS !! Screw anyone that looks at you sideways or thinks otherwise. As you go through this 12 week class you will get faster, more flexible, stronger and have better stamina !! Think how amazing that will feel ! Then after your surgery you will be walking. Then after awhile your speed will increase. Faster and faster until you break into a run for a minute. Then 2 minutes.... Then 3 minutes.... You got this !!! -
Skin on my chiny, chiny, chin, chin.

Great question !! A very good friend of mine was 460 when he had his surgery. As he lost he made sure to take his supplements, drink his Water and exercise. As he went his skin tightened up. Yes, some areas took longer but he is 20 years post opp and you would never know he had surgery unless he told you. Skin is normal and other than being a human chia pet he looks great ! -

I have been thinking about this same situation, we have a large social circle and frequently go out to eat. I have a feeling that soup will become my new friend when at restaurants for a while. -
Yep, I told the girls last night that after this gets done, there will be now more Pasta or rice in the house. They are going to eat veggies whether they like it or not ! Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G870A using the BariatricPal App

Little changes start early and become habits right ?? WEll, I am steadily sipping water all day long and have made it a habit the last two weeks. Every time I have to empty the bladder I hit the stairwell across the hall from the bathroom and do two sets of stairs. It is 30 steps up and 30 s teps down. So 60 setps a set and I am doing two sets. So 120 steps ata time. I am averaging 4 trips a day so for 480 steps. or 240 vertical steps. Tomorrow before leaving I will do take the elevator up to the 22nd floor and come all the way down. Baby steps !

I have to say that I work with a great bunch of guys. I am getting more support from my workmates than my spouse. Any of you experience this ?

My daughter is now 9 but when she was 7 my wife underwent 2 brain surgeries. I explained everything to my daughter in very simple and broad terms. She grasped exactly what was going on and then asked more detailed questions. S a resupt, she waskt afraid, knew what to expect when mommy came home. She was my little rock and i was her big rock. We've never hidden anything from her and do not candy coat things. She is smart as a tack. I'd explain it to the older two. Kinda explain it to the younger one. The baby.... well, they aren't going to remember a darn thing. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G870A using the BariatricPal App -

Vent: I'm in LAST place in the weight loss challenge! Really?
SamBwaR3 replied to Essence46's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I know that if I eat 5 small meals a day, 1/2 cup protien and 1/2 cup veggies my metabolism will jumpstart and I'll drop weight off just with my daily routine. I am wondering if that applies after surgery as well. Granted those amounts may be too much for you. But more in will get your body out of a starvation mode if your not taking enough in. Will do!! You'll see me, just look for the fat guy!! In all honesty, it'll be nice to keep in touch and have someone on the journey at the same time to commiserate with. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G870A using the BariatricPal App

@@swinglifeaway, and that is what she told me as well. I knew about he deficiencies and that steered me away from the full bypass but now that I am seeing and hearing more long term (10+ years out) I do not want the sleeve. I will see her on the 20th of April for my Mandatory Seminar and then the next morning for an appointment and will tell her then. You and I are about the same size so it will be interesting to see how we go on this journey.

Is there a specific clothing store that you were gunning for once you reached your target/goal weight?
SamBwaR3 replied to Deleted Profile's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Ahhhh, that makes sense now. Never heard the term amd I've spent my fair amountbofbtime on the family farm. Guess I qualify as that one from time to time. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G870A using the BariatricPal App -
Question for the Dr. Lang patients. .. I am going to switch from sleeve to bypass. In all my meetings with her we've only discussed the sleeve but after doing more research and thinking long term I feel that the full bypass will be my best option. Did she reccomend sleeve for you all as well and what made you choose bypass? Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G870A using the BariatricPal App
