Bring your own Protein shakes with you, the ones in the hospital are awful. Bring slip on shoes and comfy clothes. Bring a nice warm blankie for comfort. It takes about 3 weeks for major pain to subside. Sent from my LGMS330 using the BariatricPal App

I wasn't diabetic but I had wicked high blood pressure. My surgery date was 12/22/15 and I did not get blood pressure pills for my 2 day hospital stay. I went home Christmas eve and Christmas morning I took a blood pressure pill and nearly passed out. So I stopped taking the pill and on 12/30 I went to my primary and he officially took me off of them. I have been fine ever since. Sent from my LGMS330 using the BariatricPal App

RNY folks often find themselves needing their gallbladder removed. Idk what the connection is but it's common. Sent from my LGMS330 using the BariatricPal App -

12/2014 I woke up 40 yrs old; I was sick and sad. I needed to see a doctor for blood pressure refills and pulled up a map and located the closest doctor to my house. I wasn't looking to make any changes; but the doctor was so nice and non-judgemental; I felt obligated to lose weight, after all I was 402lbs. I started with high protein; low carbs and 1/2 phentermine. In one year I was down 99lbs and qualified for the RNY procedure. I am 3 months post op and down a total of 135lbs. I workout four times a week; sticking with rowing and cycling. I am 126lbs from goal weight and I have come so far. I am loving life and have zero regrets. Long way to go yet and I've come so far. Post-Op Day 5 Lots of Pain
nursesrock74 replied to clardoss's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I had RNY 12/22/15 and the general census is that the pain lasts about 3 weeks, especially at the largest site. Some people don't tolerate shakes well that is why my dietician recommends unjury Protein powder. It is clear, unflavored and can be added to anything. Just a thought.
