  1. 6 hrs until I report to the hospital. I'm nervous as hell! Sent from my SCH-I545 using the BariatricPal App
  2. I had that moment of realization this afternoon that I'm only 2.5 weeks away from my surgery. I went from being extremely excited to now being nervous as hell! Most of the nerves revolve around the surgery itself. I've never have had a operation before. I'm always the one that likes to have control of a situation and with this surgery, you are putting your life in the control of the hospital staff. I have complete confidence in the Dr. And the team/program but the unknowns are what making me nervous as hell! I'm sure these are normal pre-op jitters. How did you all overcome these? Pain/Pain Management after surgery

Dmedic72,Were you on a "pain pump" post op? Sent from my SCH-I545 using the BariatricPal App
  13. I have my VSG scheduled for November. I'm a little concerned about the post op-pain management. My dr. has already indicated that I will be in the hospital "2 days to keep me comfortable" I've had 4 knee surgeries, 2 of them were pretty extensive procedures that resulted in some pretty extensive pain after words. I'm just wondering if this pain is on par with something like that? or totally different? I know its a different area of the body but in all honesty I had such a rough go of it during my last knee surgery. The pain was horrible. I wasn't able to keep food or liquids down. So I'm just trying to mentally prepare myself to what is ahead. Any Feedback would be greatly appreciated Thank You,
  14. Hi, I'm new this forum. I began my process on January 4th of 2016. After many Dietician visits, Psych. visits, sleep tests and Primary Dr. visits I was finally told that after my next dietary visit I would be green lighted for surgery. I met with my Surgeon this past Friday. He was very nice and answered all mine and my wife's questions. Reality is kind of setting in with me. I know this not a surgery I want to do but need to do for my long term health. Heart disease and Diabetes run in our family so I'm trying to be very proactive with my health now vs waiting down the line to do a procedure. My main fears are the surgery itself. I HATE DR'S and HOSPITALS! I have had many operations on both my knees due to college football injuries so I kind of know what to expect on the day of surgery as it pertains to pre-op, Anesthesia, Etc. Can anyone tell me how you felt coming out of surgery? My surgeon has told me I will be hospitalized for 2 days. How was pain? I've had 2 major knee surgeries so I know what real pain feels like. I've seen so many conflicting reports about pain post VSG. I have complete faith that I will be kept as comfortable as possible but am more or less trying to prepare myself for what lies ahead after the surgery. Protein/Vitamins Does anybody have recommendations on Protein/Vitamin brands/Flavors? Thanks for your feedback, Steve
