  1. Hello. I’m a post-gastric sleeve from March 1, 2016. I was 325 at my highest and 189 at my lowest. Even had 7lbs I’d excess apron skin and fat cut off. I’ve gained about 40lbs back and am getting scared. It’s my Surgeons advice that I do a reset, a liquid diet for two weeks and follow the original post-op plan starting with puréed foods. Doing the reset doesn’t bother me and I know it’ll force me out of some addictions I’ve developed... but I cannot stand drinking plain water! It’s been over two years now and I don’t remember if crystal light or V8 was allowed on the original plan or not... and can’t get a hold of the surgeons office or the nutritionist to ask either. Help???
  2. Odd question but I've wanted to put my app in for a flight attendant, however I was told that 1) being larger, I wouldn't get past the interview, and 2) because I have visible tattoos (though tasteful), I didn't have a chance either. Best of luck on your surgery and recovery! Sent from my iPhone Well. I think the main concern is whether you can fit into the restraints on a flight attendant jump seat. Also it's a very physical job. If you can fit the restraints and you can lift and push and bend with ease. Then you can do the job. They can't discriminate against weight unless it compromises safety or service. As for tattoos... you can choose to not tell them when they ask, ( and they will ask). And you'll just have to always wear pants.. or long sleeves... I say just go for it. "Nothing beats a failure but a try.." <- my mother says that. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App I'm able to fly comfortably now and have gone from a 22, needing an extender to fit in the seats, down to a 10/12 (maybe less since I just had skin removal), and all restraints needed to be tightened. I think I will go for it since long sleeves and pants don't bother me at all. Thank you! Sent from my iPhone

    Is tis true...

No drain for the sleeve, but two drains for the skin removal from 12/21. I'll have them in until my office visit with him on 01/05. Sent from my iPhone

Has anyone had insurance cover plastics?

I actually just had mine done on Wednesday. I had a penniculectomy for the apron removal as it was causing nasty rashing and blistering. My insurance paid for it 9 months post-op and would have paid for it at 18 months without the problems. The pain now is comparable to that of the sleeve, and this time I was given drains (yay...). They removed a total of 6 1/2 pounds just from this procedure, and once the swelling goes down, it'll be a little more. I think the relocation of the belly-button hurts more than the staples or incisions for the drains. I have Blue Cross/Blue Shield, and even the new insurance with work, United Health, they would have covered it as soon as March. However because it was within the same year, that meant I didn't have to pay another deductible. Good luck to those who want to go for it. Highly recommend watching a video or two first to know what you're getting into. Sent from my iPhone
  6. 2 weeks out there was no way I could have traveled. I was sleeved on March 1, 2016 and up until a few weeks ago at 9 months out, I was still puking my guts out. Nearly. Every. Day. When I would travel for a weekend I made sure to take things with me that were "friendly." Greek yogurt and Jello have been the two things that consistently stay down. Best of luck to you on your birthday adventure, and do use your friends for support, whatever that might entail. Sent from my iPhone
  7. December 1st marks my 9 month post op for my sleeve and despite being sick for a good share of it (not holding much down still), I'm very pleased with the results! From a 22, to a solid 12... over 130lbs lost and MADE IT TO ONE-DERLAND! (I'm a big fan of Supernatural so photos below are ops I've had done with the cast) September 2015, my worst and no change from that when I went into surgery, July 2016 at my first 100lb lost, then October 2016... my most recent. Have lost maybe 7 or 8 lbs since it was taken. Sent from my iPhone

    9 months post op tomorrow

Thank you! Next convention I have a solo shot with Jensen/Dean I will simply ask him for the tightest hug he can give me. Hopefully it's an equal or better result than I have with Jared or Misha. 9 months post op tomorrow

I have lots of pics with Jensen/Dean as well as Misha/Cas. Just don't have digital copies to post yet. The pic with chuck is the first one I ever seen the "new me" and I cried. I lost my composure in the photo-pickup area at the convention and cried. It didn't look like me. It didn't register that it was really me. Sent from my iPhone

    9 months post op tomorrow

Also, December 21st of this year I'm getting the skin removal and hope it includes thighs. But the apron and muffin top will be GONE. insurance approved it early cause of issues with rashing/blistering. (TMI) Sent from my iPhone

    Exercise

Ask your doctor and they'll give you a timeline. Don't push yourself too hard. I was sleeved on March 1st, 2016 and down 133 at 9 months. I also got on the treadmill and walked only within a few days. (It was cold here and outside walking wasn't an option). Weights and strength training have been slow going and there are some things that still hurt to do, but I know that's because I haven't done them in months. Trying to personally get my legs and core as toned as possible over the next three weeks... December 21st I'm having the skin removal done. (Yes, already) and I can't wait. Sent from my iPhone
  13. No not at all. RNY October 6th tw365, sw350, cw209 and pain free Sent from my SM-G935V using the BariatricPal App You lost almost 150 lbs in under two months? Congrats!!! I just hit my 130 weight loss at 8 months out. Sent from my iPhone

    Food

Yes I started on 1 Oz protein shakes in hospital. Now on 4 oz...want food. This sucks! Sent from my SM-G900V using the BariatricPal App Whatever you do, don't try food. I made that mistake thinking I was ready for it about a week out and it ended in disaster. Not only did the one or two bites come back up, but I couldn't even handle a Protein shake for a couple days after. This too shall pass, sleeved on 3/1 and at three months I'm alternating between soft and regular diet. I still use protein shakes daily, lots of Greek yogurt, and oatmeal has been a life saver. Being three months out, I'm also down 60lbs and have 50 more to go until mine and my surgeons initial goal. Have faith in their plan, and don't rush yourself. Sent from my iPhone

    10 weeks out

Commenting to follow. Lost nearly 30 in my first week. The other 20 has taken until 5/07 and I was sleeved on 03/01/2016. Sent from my iPhone

    In the first month

Consider pain medication and swelling. You will lose, promise. I'm 10 weeks post op and down almost 50 as of today, also had the week 3 stall last about 3 weeks... It'll happen. Sent from my iPhone
  17. How do you still have 80lbs to go!? You look fantastic and hope you have every success your way. Sent from my iPhone

    I finally hit the 100's!

Congrats!!! I'm still a bit over 50lbs away from onderland but hope to be there by mid-August. I can only imagine how amazing it feels for the first number to say ONE Sent from my iPhone

    In the first month

I lost almost 40 in the first month and another 10 the second. I'm 4 lbs away from 50lbs post op... But I'm also 70lbs down from my highest point. I keep hitting plateaus but then slowly break through them. I'm okay with that and still hope to lose another 60 over the next few months. Warmer weather means more walking and a steady schedule allows me gym time now. Sent from my iPhone

    Alcohol

I thought the same thing! However I think I'll just follow his original advice and stay away from wine and mixed drinks permanently. Sent from my iPhone

    Alcohol

Talked to my doc today cause I had for turn in food journals for other reasons. My 3 week stall lasted for 4 weeks (and begun a week early), then 10lbs came off over 3 weeks and I'm stalled again... Anyway, I asked that since I'm 2 months out and on a regular food diet (yay! No more purréd or soft!)... About the diet, if I'd be able to have even half a glass of wine with friends or anything. He reiterated the very hard NO, and insisted I attend an AA meeting since it's the 2nd or 3rd time I've asked since pre-op. No I'm not an addict, and it's not that big of a deal anymore I guess. It's not that I'm thirsty for a drink necessarily, but knowing I can't have something ever again is messing with my head. (Yet I was fine giving up ice cream, sweets, and 99% of fast food) maybe I do need that AA meeting... Even though I'd drink maybe 3 times a year. Edit: reading this back, damn I'm tired and ADD is running high. Don't care enough to fix the post though. Sent from my iPhone

    Alcohol

@ 2GoldenGirl, I was sleeved on March 1st, and the first trip I have is at the end of August. My surgeon was asking about it at my 4 week follow-up and insisted I not drink. I can see why though... Currently I'm almost 7 weeks out and still mostly on purréd and liquids. He'd rather I be on soft foods but my body just can't handle them. Sent from my iPhone

    Alcohol

You guys are lucky, my surgeon told me no more alcohol, ever. Not 6 weeks out, not 6 months out, never. I had told him about a couple trips I have coming up and how I wanted to reach my goal before them if possible. He'd asked if I drank, which the answer was yes... Occasionally... He said never again. Didn't ask what, but completely shut it down instead. Sorry for the rant, but even though I don't drink often, to have the option taken away was a surprise. Sent from my iPhone

    NSV

I had three NSV last week. A shirt I ordered deliberately too small fit, my work clothes are too large now and don't need safety pins to hold the shirt closed, and my jeans that I'd bought 2 years ago and barely fit then, now require a belt. I'd thought after being sleeved 3/1 that I'd be further than 37 lbs down (especially after losing 28 the first week)... But these NSV's are keeping me going for now. Sent from my iPhone
