Foods you no longer enjoy
Julie2879 replied to MerryMarie's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am 9 months out, and my food tolerances and likes/dislikes are still changing. I can no longer eat hot dogs or sausages, they make me nauceous. I used to LOVE pizza, but turn my nose up at it now. Sweet items, I can't eat much of, nor SHOULD I. I told myself from the very beginning that I was not going to 100% cut anything out of my diet, just make better choices. I am making good choices as a whole, but once in a while I allow myself something off of the "diet". It's also about portion control. I used to be able to finish off a pint of ice cream. Now, I get Halo Top ice cream and eat a tiny bit, and I am more satisfied. -

Relationship changes
Julie2879 replied to Shereseed's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My husband has supported me from the beginning. As a matter of fact, he was the one to even suggest the surgery. He had always seen me so depressed and down, he figured he would mention it to me as an option, he knows someone else who did it. He would love me no matter what I decided, and would support me in any decision. It has been 9 months since my surgery, and things are better now. He comments on how great I look now, but he always also says that he loved me back then, too. I couldn't ask for better support! -
How did you feel when you woke up?
Julie2879 replied to fatnomore2017's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
When I woke up, the only thing I remember thinking was why did I just go through with this, because I just did something that would change my life forever. I really had minimal pain. I only had Tramadol once, and that was because I was afraid I would be in pain. Other than that first dose after my surgery, I had no pain meds. -

How do you manage changing clothing sizes?
Julie2879 replied to Phoinixe's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I like to shop at consignment shops. I recently bought a pair of Ann Taylor dress pants for $3! Check on google for sales in your area, some shops do consignment expos and you can walk out of there paying barely nothing. You can also sell your bigger clothes and get a little cash back. I have barely nothing to wear, so I will be going shopping once the tax refund comes in. My chest was one of the first areas I noticed a difference in. I have gone down a cup size in the past 4 and a half months, and still have about 50 more pounds to my goal weight. -
Gallbladder issue?
Julie2879 replied to Belladonnis's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was sleeved on 10/13/16 and had a gallblader attack on 12/07/16. Had gallstones and gallbladder was taken out on 12/22/16. Those 2 weeks I was having pain was hell, but woke up from anesthesia feeling the best I have in a while. Smooth sailing from then! -
Am I eating too much?
Julie2879 replied to chewbug26's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have found a cheese made by Cabot brand, it is sharp extra light cheese. It has a lot more Protein than most, and the fat is lower. It's a pretty good cheese, I eat it for a snack! -

Corn chips and crackers
Julie2879 replied to P.R.Jones's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have actually tried dehydrated cucumber slices. If you have a dehydrator, slice the cucumbers in about 1/8 inch rounds and put them in. When they are done, they have the crunch you are looking for, and they are far better for you than chips or crackers. That's the thing with these cravings, most of the time it's for something we shouldn't be eating. I have found that if you are creative, you can usually find some alternative and healthier. It's all about our choices. Sometimes we do slip, but this is also a learning process. A lot of us are so used to eating whatever we want and however much we want of it. This is a whole new world, and we are in this together! -

"The Stall" has lifted!
Julie2879 replied to Julie2879's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes, I hear it is quite normal to go through a few of them. I learned not to worry, as long as I am following my diet, because I can see the inches melt off. I think we get so worried about what the scale says, we don't pay attention to what the clothes show. I am fitting into clothing I have not been able to even fit passed my shoulders in YEARS. It's just unreal, to know that as long as I do not allow myself to stray, my loose clothing can go bye-bye forever. -
So, I went about 2 and a half weeks with no weight loss. Thank goodness I read that it is perfectly normal, or else I would have been driving myself crazy! I decided I was going to stay off of the scale for a week, and when I weighed myself this morning, I had lost 4 more lbs. Needless to say, I was very happy, since October 3rd I have lost 37 lbs!!! We can all do this, and we are here for each other!!!
-
I am 4 weeks post op, lost over 20 lbs in my first two weeks and then stalled for a little over 2 weeks. Now, I weighed myself this morning and I have lost another 3 pounds. Stalls will happen, to pretty much ALL of us. Just don't get discouraged about it. Discouragement is what causes us to give up, and that is no longer an option. Cheer up and realize you did something wonderful for yourself!

3 week stall [emoji15]
Julie2879 replied to blackbenzjeep@yahoo.com's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am also going through a stall, have only lost 1 pound in the past week. and I am almost 4 weeks post op. I'm told it's normal, just a way of your body healing and catching up with itself. Don't get discouraged when looking at the scale, look more at how your clothes are fitting. After losing weight so fast, your body just needs to catch up with it. It may even happen more than once. Stay positive and realize you did something great for yourself. Keep up the good work and the stall will end. -
So, tomorrow morning I will be having my Gastric Sleeve surgery. I am feeling all sorts of emotions, which I think is normal. I almost started crying at the grocery store a few days ago because I couldn't have pretty much anything they had. I was ready to cancel my surgery and have a sandwich! I calmed myself down and got myself back on track. I am proud to say I did not have a sandwich, I have followed a liquid only diet FAITHFULLY for 10 days and have lost 13 pounds. I have a great support system, and am looking forward to being able to fit into clothes that are not plus sized! Oh, man...don't think I'll be able to sleep tonight!

I am on day 4 of the pre-op liquid diet. I hadn't really gone much the past few days, but today my stomache started hurting and I had to go. Not only is it the Protein shakes, but I think also just the shock to oyur body from going from eating to just liquids.

Day 1 pre op diet [emoji85]
Julie2879 replied to megnun21's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I, too, just started my 10 day pre-op liquid diet today. I haven't had any issues, just waiting for the headaches and everything else that goes along with not eating anything, and getting rid of all the unhealthy, fattening stuff I was putting into my body. WE CAN DO THIS!! -
Ok, so I was originally scheduled for October 20th, but now they moved it to October 13th! I am feeling every singe emotion there is out there. I am more excited than anything, but also scared, nervous, anxious...EVERYTHING! I almost cried today making a cup of pumpkin coffee, thinking about how I won't be able to have it for a long time. I am so ready to give up a lot of foods, as my eating of them in large quantities is what got me to this point. I have a super supportive husband, which is helping me out a lot. Just so many emotions!
