  1. my date was 3/28 - if I eat too much/too fast even mushy food like cottage cheese I get stomach pains. I realized this happens every single time so I am now more conscious about not drinking at least an hour before and after i eat, and also eating only 1/4-1/2 cup of mushy at a time. sometimes over a span of 30 min. This helped a lot. this will eventually get better once 100% healed.

    Post op & work

One week- was sleeves on 3/28- back in work on 4/4. I can't just sit home- but I have a desk job. Only thing that was rough was the train in nyc in the mornings but only for the first couple days. I saved my time off for an actual vacation. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  3. We all know this is a lifestyle change. It would be great to know others experiences- not to repeat the same thing over and over again. We are each our own person if you don't agree- don't try to change others way of life. I damn well for sure know I work hard enough and deserve to unwind once in awhile. If my unwinding is different then yours so be it. Hope some more people have actual comments in this thread of past experiences. Jmc I would try the same question in the post op forum. I came in here on accident originally being a post op myself. Good luck! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  4. The first sentence of the post was not to judge- and the first response was just that. If you don't have something to contribute to the convo then don't post at all. In response to the original post, I have been asking the same question myself. I am 3 weeks post op on Monday. I haven't done anything but I am going to give myself 3 months for alcohol and 3 months for weed too. I just will need to control the munchies and drink Water instead which won't harm your stomach if you haven't eaten cause it will run straight through you. As for the coke, I'm going to a festival next month and will be doing some uppers probably Molly/E I think I'll be fine if I stay hydrated but I'll let y'all know. 5. Starting weight was 240 , day of op (on 3/28) I was 233, a week and a half ago i was 218 for nearly 2 weeks, and this morning the scale went down to 217. I have been struggling with the stall too. These forums have helped me sooooo much in letting me know it is normal, and to just keep on doing what your doing, and eventually your body will catch up. The worst thing to do is get discouraged, try to stay positive! Positivity is a lifesaver.

    Eating the same meals

you lost 78 pounds in 5 weeks?!? if those are the right stats, that's amazing, what are you eating?!

need to learn to slow dow

I am 2.5 weeks post op and I do the exact same thing! I eye it, and then measure only to realize what I think is 4oz is really 8oz!! I started to measure religiously now because when I just "eyed" it, I over "ate" and got sick. =/
  8. It was absolutely 150% none of my coworkers business at all.. but to avoid every single uncomfortable scenario that can possibly come up at work revolving food/people offering me food/people talking about food... i decided to tell about 10 people in the office, who I most associated with. My surgery was 2.5 weeks ago, and people have been more then considerate and just really helpful and encouraging. It may be because I am one of the youngest at 25 AND work for a hospital, and they all look to me like I am the baby, but for whatever reason work has been easy. (except for lunch time when everyone food smells amazing). To tell or not to tell that is your choice, I agree with everyone else's comments as well, just do what works for you and good luck!
  9. For those of you that got sleeved on the 28th and stalled, don't worry! After being down and depressed and asking myself why? What am I doing wrong?! The answer is nothing! Just let your body catch up. I just broke mine after a week and a half! Stay positive!!
  10. Omg..same date, same issue and I'm feeling tired again Same here!!! It's almost the end of week 3 and I've lost 22 pounds and stalled hard. Don't get discouraged!!! I've been really down over that too- and I'm just staying positive that you'll body will catch up with your weight loss and you'll start losing again. I'm just patiently waiting! 11. Do you know if that would be the same timeline for alcohol as well? I really miss my glass of wine once in a while and have yet to get a chance to ask my Dr. or NUT.
  12. I am not sure exactly, but my plan is to stay away from caffeine for as long as I can. I kicked the coffee habit pre-op and I would hate to start up again! Between coffee costs (in NYC a cup is like $2 bucks) and staining teeth =/ If anyone knows, it would be great info to have just in case the cravings come back!

    Women....painful sex after WLS?

That sounds more like a UTI then. Should def go to GYN just in case,

    sick after eating

I got sleeved on the 28th and I'm still on full/clear liquids. I tried mushy food (cottage cheese) on Saturday and was in pain and threw up as well. I will not try again until this weekend. I have been feeling better the last couple days since reversing back to soup, broth and protein shakes. Maybe she should try going back to liquids and waiting a bit before trying soft food. Everyone heals differently so even if your ok with food by this time she may not be. Hope she ends up feeling better!

    Women....painful sex after WLS?

Its probably a mix between dehydration and hormones. I know after a rough night of drinking - me hungover and dehydrated, and him ready to go like a dog in heat in the morning, my body says no no no - get off me. Haven't tried it yet after the sleeve, but if I was you I would put it on hold, or just grab some lube and have a try at it again. Also yeast infection is very possible, I started to have one, but thankfully it passed without needing attention.

How fast do you see results

I had mine on 3/28 and almost the exact same has happened to me. I was 240 to start, surgery date 233 now 218. But i have been that way for the past week (i got my period). I weighed myself and I was 219 today! I dont get it. I really dont think im getting in enough protein or fluids, and far less than the calories I am supposed to be taking in. So I am assuming it will even out. But to have a week of no loss after all this, is frustrating. Im hoping the scale jumps down when my body catches up to itself. Please let me know what the doc said!
  18. Hey guys, I'm only 2 weeks post op - had surgery on 3/28 like a lot of you. This past weekend was the 1st weekend I was out and about - walking, doing laundry, food shopping - since surgery. And even so, I have been feeling really sad/depressed/frustrated. Yes, I have been taking my Vitamins (i know that can effect mood). I'm the person who everyone else comes to for help/support, and when people ask me how I'm doing i say fine, even if its not true. I used to have multiple crutches when I was feeling down - whether it be food, alcohol, cigarettes, and other things to cope, and I stopped all of that for this. I am by no means complaining because I know this was the right decision, I just am wondering if anyone felt this way post op, is it normal & will it go away? I'm down some weight, look and feel better, but still cant get out of this mental downward spiral. I plan on going to a post-op support group in my area, but any other words of encouragement would be great.
  19. How much food/liquid are we supposed to be able to hold at this point. Sleeved on 3/28. I had about 8oz of tomato Soup today and about 1/2 cup of cottage cheese throughout the day. I felt like it was coming back up and actually threw up in my mouth. But I don't know if it's possibly acid reflux? Or if I "ate" too much. I'm on the mushy food stage. I'm desperately trying to get down 64oz of Fluid and 60g of Protein and it's near impossible. Yes I've been trying to do Protein shakes but after doing it for 2.5 weeks I got sick and tired of them. Any suggestions for this mushy food phase? Maybe not dairy? I only lost 22 pounds and then hit a plateau already. Anyone else having the same issue? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Hit the 50lb Milestone!

thank you for the info!! that sounds like a really great routine. I'll be 2 weeks post op monday, but am feeling good. I have been walking when I can, and have been trying to stay active. I do not have anything to monitor my activity like a fitbit I think that would be good to get! I think I should be ok to start lightly at the gym by the end of the month! Thanks again for the motivation, great job & good luck!
  22. I honestly cannot wait for the feeling when people look at me knowing they are not looking at me because I am fat. I have got the comment "but you have such a pretty face." for my ENTIRE life. I am OVER that FOREVER. I am looking forward to people looking at me knowing they are looking at me for any other reason. Being able to shop in places other than Torrid (even though they have great plus size clothes for younger people - but way overpriced). I am looking forward to amusements parks, not being made fun of by family (whether jokingly or maliciously), being out at a bar and getting hit on, people being nicer to me! (2 weeks post op I already had a man give up his seat for me on the train), getting smiles from random strangers instead of gawking stares, not like this would happen now - but being able to eat "unhealthy" food without someone saying "are you sure you should be eating that", not being worried if I can fit in a seat on the train ( I live in NYC), and the looks people give me when I spill over into the other seat. I am just looking forward to being treated like a "normal" individual not like some menace to society, and above all of this other nonsense I am looking forward to finally being happy AND healthy for life. Rant over

    Hit the 50lb Milestone!

congrats thats awesome! How much time did you wait before getting back in the gym?! I am nearly 2 weeks post op, and was going to give myself another 2 weeks.
  24. Hello all, so just a quick background - I am 5 ft 4 inches, female, 25 years old. My pre op weight was 240, my weight day of surgery was 233 and now I am 218 (surgery date was 3/28/16). I am planning on meeting someone for the first time (kinda like a long distance relationship- long story) in July/August of this year. I understand weight is a number, and everyone's body is different, including bone structure, etc. But from past experiences and those who are already 5+ months post op, how realistic would it be to set my goal to be 170 by that time. I am feeling great, and am ready to get back to the gym as soon as my doc gives me the approval (i was fairly active pre-op as well). Please do not lecture me about asking this question, I understand it will all come off in time, and that I need to be healthy, etc.. I am simply just asking for others experiences, and those with similar height/weight if you think this is doable or an unrealistic goal. Thanks!
  25. I was sleeved on the 28th and I'm also still on clear/full liquids - my doc said 2 weeks liquids (first clear, then moved to full), 2 weeks mushy food then I can start on real whole food. I have no problem with that because I cant even get my 64 oz down! I found that coconut water, and V8 vegetable juice are a godsend. One of the only things I can drink without consequence - well those and chicken broth. My plan is to start mushy food next week, things like blended cottage cheese, and blended soups. I'm excited but nervous because even when I drink too fast, it hurts. My large incision is also a bit irritated but hoping this goes away soon. I was back to work Monday, and almost starting to feel like myself again, just a bit lightheaded at times due to lack of energy/protein, but I will get there in due time. Down 22 pounds as well! Glad most of you are doing well and most importantly happy! I sure am =)
