Cake after being sleeved
miss_smiles replied to LMSWNYC's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am a person where "everything in moderation" does not work. Quirks of having an addictive personality. That goes with smoking, drinking and of course eating. So I stay away from ALL sweets, ice cream ,cake, candy, chocolate, etc. But that mug cake sounds amazing and is perfect for special occasions. Thanks for the recipe! -

Alcohol and drugs after surgery
miss_smiles replied to jmc534's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Just an update for whoever wants to know. I had the surgery on March 28th and I went to a festival this past weekend. I ended up doing Molly and was 100% fine i just stayed hydrated. It honestly felt the same as it did pre-surgery. I also drank a lot (6-8 drinks) non carbonated Smirnoff filled with sugar (unfortunately) and was fine as well. The only thing was it hit me faster, and less alcohol got me drunk (also could of been because I did not eat). I also tried wine and was fine with that. A sip of beer did not sit well bc of the carbonation. I also ended up smoking about 2 packs of cigarettes in 2 days ( i was a smoker pre-op). But overall, I did not get sick, I did not throw up, I am back to normal, although it took my body a day to recover (which would of been the same pre -op). Everyone's body is different so please don't think you will have the same results. Just wanted to share my experience. The only bad thing was that I didn't really eat for two days trying to counteract the calories from the alcohol, and it messed up my weight loss progress and set me back about a week - because in addition I didn't make it to the gym. My ending point is, I had tons of fun, and I do not regret anything but for me, I will def stay away from that stuff again for awhile to continue on my weight loss journey! -
I am 7 weeks out and only 35 pound down. Stay off the scale it is your WORST enemy. I do weekly weigh ins, and it is so much better.

I am six weeks out...stalled for 10 days...and starting to regret my decision. Anyone else?
miss_smiles replied to KLSUMM's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am 7 weeks out, and I just went to a group therapy session for post op patients, with my number one problem being the social divide I now feel from friends and family. EVERYTHING revolves around food, or alcohol for me. Just think that it will eventually get better, and you made this decision for YOU to be healthy and happy, and nothing can get in the way of that. Stay strong and happy because the same reasons you had this surgery in the first place are still there, you just need to look back and find the strength to bring them back to light. I am going to a festival this weekend, with LOTS of alcohol and food, but fuck it.. because I know I will still have fun. I realized I was part of the problem dividing myself from others- changing your way of thinking may help - and it never hurts to explain how your feeling to the fam. If they love you they will understand.. Good luck! -
I had the surgery on March 28th... I stalled not once, not twice but three times so far. I'm down 35 pounds so far, and am currently in my 4th stall. My body is in a routine of staying the same 1.5-2 weeks and then randomly dropping 5 pounds in one day, just to do it all over again. Its normal, just keep doing what your doing, stay positive, and the scale WILL move, I promise!!!!

Stretchmarks and Surgery Scar Removal Creams
miss_smiles replied to IJustWant2BeALoser's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Vitamin E oil. I have been using it since post op day 1. My scars are visable but its only been 6 weeks. Just make sure to put something over them if you go tanning, because that makes them darker =/ -
Dry mouth and bad breath every morning.

I'm going on 6 weeks post op and I have been waking up every morning with dry mouth, a bad taste and bad breath. Thank goodness I sleep alone- I think it's ketosis or something? But any ideas when it will stop? It's really frustrating. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
Quick and easy high protein healthy snacks/meals?
miss_smiles posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hey everyone! I recently found a great snack/small meal and I would love to share. One medium banana 1/2 cup high Protein plain Greek yogurt 1-2 tablespoon of PB2 powered Peanut Butter Mix the pb2 in the yogurt- and your done! You can use the yogurt mixture as a dip for your banana which you can cut up and eat with a fork/spoon slowly. It's low calorie- very high protein. (About 20g depending on how much yogurt and pb2 you use). Anyone else have great quick and easy snacks/small meals they make?! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
Is it possible to not have loose skin at all? That is my biggest fear. I'm 5 weeks post op just started back at the gym - for cardio- will start weight training once I get Dr. Approval. I don't want surgery to remove it. Anyone here not need to get surgery to remove the skin? And just firmed it naturally? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

@@Stevehud I think your projecting your inner issues on other people here. Maybe you failed at some point and your trying to help others by giving advice- but you may want to consider using your words more wisely. It comes across as sarcastic, and just plain rude. This is a support community first and foremost. I have tons to say about this topic but I am not even going to entertain this thread- especially when it's being ruled by one individuals comments, who appears to think he's some type of weight loss God. Good luck in your journey everyone! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Looking in the mirror
miss_smiles replied to Lisa_85's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am in my 5th week post op and I feel the EXACT same. Lost 28 pounds so far and EVERY time I look in the mirror I see more and more imperfections. I just started going to the gym so hopefully that will help, but it is rough. We are our own worst critic. Everyone keeps saying I look good, and I know even more weight will eventually come off but it doesn't help. Mentally I'm still damaged, even though physically I am improving. I feel the mental battle with boosting confidence and self esteem from within is going to be more difficult then physically losing the weight. Which has proven to be the case for me so far. Stay strong! You are NOT alone. <3 -
March 30 Sleevers?
miss_smiles replied to HotLady34's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Mine was March 28th. I am on soft food now, but sometimes I will still have mushy food. I am doing ok with Protein and Water, essentially 60g of protein and 64 oz are my targets. Some days are better than others. I started up at the gym this past Saturday the 23rd. So far I have had one stall, and am in one right now. But total lost is 28 pounds. I'm feeling almost 100%! Best decision of my life. -
I'm eating 4 oz about 3 times a day and getting in the Protein through food and Isopure drinks. You need to make sure your getting in enough food. When I went from the mushy phase to soft food phase I actually lost Weight. 4 weeks post op and headed to the gym tomorrow. Keep up the good work Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
