    3 months out stall

I know I am late to this but yes, the three month stall got me too. Its ROUGH but i am trying to not let it get me down. As always, it will pass if you have more weight to lose. Patience is key! and to not get discouraged! i SHOULD take my own advice haha but glad I am not alone.

    Should I?

I am going on vacation tomorrow to the UK for two weeks, my question is - Should I take my scale?! I know I may not eat what I am supposed to all the time, and may be drinking somewhat. I want to have fun, but I also don't want to fall off the bandwagon. Ideas/Suggestions?

  7. Wow is it only me or does it get harder and harder to lose as the weeks go on. I just hit 186 - only 36 more pounds to my goal, and 46 to my stretch goal. Is anyone else less than 50 pounds away from goal and having a tough time losing even only after 3 months? You think this is just a stall? Am I freaking out for no reason?
  8. how did everyone do with the 4th of july weekend!? I did not do so great =/ had a few things I was not supposed to eat! The scale said i gained 4 pounds from Friday-Tuesday. I doubt that is actually possible. I guess I will see over the next couple days!. Ugh holidays suck now.
  9. Hey all! So it has been 3 months since having the sleeve. I was just wondering where everyone is in terms of weight loss, exercise, eating, emotionally, socially, confidence wise, etc. Essentially how are you doing?!
  10. So I started at 240 lbs, am 5 ft 4 inch, 26 yrs old and down to 189 lbs. The loose skin isn't that bad, I feel i notice it more than others. Its just around my underarms, stomach and thighs. But I have been going to the gym every day, taking my Vitamins, drinking lots of Water, and also applying skin firming lotion (like jergens or nivea) with a few drops of Vitamin E oil a couple times of week after the shower. Doing all of these things for me has definitely helped (i remember a few years back I had lost weight and my skin wasn't as tight as it is now). There is really no way to completely avoid it, but you can do these things to make it better. I have another 40 pounds to go, after that I will decide whether or not skin removal surgery is necessary, which is always an option.
  11. question! are you paying out of pocket for plastics? or is there anyway insurance covers this?
  12. Hey guys. So I struggled a bit pre-op with eating disorders, mostly bulimia and a binge/purge habit. When I did my psych eval I didn't mention anything of it. I am almost 3 months out, down almost 50 pounds, but recently I have been falling back into old habits. Sometimes eating too much, slider foods like ice cream and them throwing it back up. Has anyone with past bulimia experienced this now that you have a sleeve?

    Eating Disorder - Bulimia

I would never want to undo my sleeve, I was just asking if other people had same/similar experiences. Guess not. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  14. I agree it def takes a couple days to get back to normal, but on a couple occasions it has broke a stall for me because I feel i was restricting too much carbs/sugar. I don't even know if that makes sense, but either way moderation is ok. and congrats on almost reaching goal! I still have another 50 to go!!!
  15. reaching 199 is an AMAZING feeling. I just hit 195 i never want to see a 2 on the scale AGAIN! keep up the good work everyone! and keep this thread alive for months down the road as well. It is great support still to keep eachother in check and motivated.

    Beer

Got sleeved on March 28th, so just 2.5 months post op. I have been dabbling in alcohol quite a bit. A couple of things I've noticed: - I was a HUGE beer drinker pre-op, the carbonation does bother me, and beer has the most calories especially the IPAs I LOVED. So now, I avoid it if I can. Will most likely try beer again in the next month or two. - White wine for me is life. A couple of glasses and I'm set. The acidity doesn't affect me at all, it goes down like Water. Bloody Mary's for brunch are great, but heavy so you may only be able to have one or two. - Liquor is also fine. Whether it is shots, or mixed with some juice (not soda). Tried Rum, Vodka, Whisky, haven't tried Tequila but I am assuming I will be fine with that as well. - When I drink, I usually don't have enough room to eat, so my calories in alcohol end up leveling out. Maybe some chicken or a Protein bar, other than that, I definitely do not indulge on food when I drink to maintain weight loss. - The buzz hits quicker, but doesn't last as long. I can have a bottle of wine, a couple of shots and still be ok in a night, you just need to pace yourself and remember to DRINK WATER! most importantly. Not trying to condone drinking just sharing experience. It will not stretch the stomach, but it will hinder your weight loss a bit IF you over do it. But, I'm almost 50 pounds down, so hasn't been a set back for me. Best of luck to ya'll!
  17. Ok guys 2 weeks marks our 3 month! I'm almost 50 pounds down, but have went against the docs orders and have been drinking somewhat on the weekends just to de-compress a bit. Can anyone relate to that? I also have a brunch this Saturday and this is the first time I will be eating out at a restaurant since surgery on 3/28. Am a bit nervous! How is everyone doing? Great? Struggling? Stalls?

  19. Its been awhile. Any updates on stalls or total weight loss to date? I need positivity! I'm down 40 pounds but the scale wont budge for the past 2 weeks again and summer is here! ahhh
  20. awesome! mind sharing your food intake/diary?
  21. Once you move from liquid, then to puree, then to solid, you will see more movement on the scale. Also your body is catching up and realizing what the hell is going on. The scale will move just be patient. I was obsessive over it and it got to a point where my roommate had to take the scale away from me. Don't let it get that far, the weight will come off. Just be positive and know your doing everything you possibly can, and let nature take its course.

    Alcohol

Had my first drink on May 13th, being sleeved on March 28th so figure 7 weeks post op. Was a heavy drinker pre-op and I wanted to test it out - so I went to the bar, where my friend works (free drinks - yikes). Ended up having 4 glasses of wine and 2 shots of rumchata. The first drink I drank very slow, I felt it hit hard, and then leveled out. But as number 2, 3 and 4 went down quicker, I could def feel the buzz. After that, the shots put me over the edge and I was drunk. Ended up having a hangover and needed Tylenol and water the next day. Pre-op - 6 drinks would of made me buzzed, if that - not even close to being drunk. I do agree that it hits you faster, and harder in less amounts. But you also need to consider how fast you drink, if you are drinking on an empty stomach, and the type of alcohol, wine vs. hard liquor. Just be mindful of these things, and you will be fine. Oh and of course, the super mega added calories. When I drink on a weekend, I expect a few days of a setback in weight loss. Sometimes it is worth it in my opinion, other times, not so much. But for a celebration like memorial day weekend coming up, I will give myself a few glasses of wine. Cheers everyone!
  23. I am almost 2 months out (sleeved on 3/28) and down 40 pounds from one week pre-op. I started going to the gym one month post op, and have religiously been going every day (except for maybe like 3 or 4 times) just doing cardio (have not done weights yet). If I miss a day, I feel guilty. If I am not there for at least an hour, I feel guilty. Also, I CONSTANTLY think about food, what I will have for Breakfast while in bed at night, what I will have for lunch in the morning, what I will be eating tomorrow for dinner when I'm at work, etc. I am constantly making a food shopping list of things I need, or want to try (when I find recipes), etc. When I need to go to a special occasion, I think about what the food situation will be, and what I may or may not be able to eat. I am paranoid of being hungry because there will be poor food choices, so I usually eat before I go. My question is, is this normal? Or at this point, do you think it is a bit extreme? Just a background, I do have an addictive personality, I was a binge eater, a smoker, and a heavy drinker pre op, and that saying "everything in moderation" never worked for me. I know this can be a good thing, I just don't want to get carried away, and let this get out of hand before its too late. Thoughts? Comments? Similar experiences?

    Too much restriction?

At 2 weeks post op I could not even eat food at that point, just protein shakes. But at 2 months post op - when I'm not drinking fluids I'm eating. I get between 500-800 (shooting for 1,000) calories a day. At the gym, I have been burning between 4-500. I need to eat more to lose in fact I was in a stall, and started eating more and broke the stall. I have between 5-6 meals a day all small in ounces (between 2 and 4 usually, 5 oz is pushing it), but all jam packed with protein (tuna, chicken, Greek yogurt, cottage cheese, low fat cheese, etc). My doc said I should be eating 3 meals a day and no snacking, but I can't do that and get enough food in. So I have been doing this, and nearly 2 months and 40 pounds down, I would say its working. Maybe try to look on here for other recipes, and things you can eat at your stage. Everyone's body is different. It will get better! Good luck!
  25. LOL. 2 months out and 40 pounds down I beg to differ. When I do more drugs later on in the year, I will be sure to update the thread so that people who WANT to know MY experiences can read. Cheers.
